I’m sure this is just standard stuff. You don’t hang around ANY airport with a gun and if you do expect to get questioned by law enforcement. And if you go in the airport with a gun expect to get arrested and charged.

I’ve carried a gun nearly every day of my adult life. I’m soon to be 50. I’ve never harmed anyone in my life and I don’t go about threatening people either. I’ve carried a police scanner as well for many years and a CB radio. Today I also carry a cell phone. Does this make me a wannabe secret agent or something?

So far I’ve read in this forum that somehow carrying a firearm and a scanner means you’re a “loser”. The suggestion by others is that you (I) must be some sort of demented individual, possibly the next mass murderer, or the like for having a firearm, scanner, and maybe a Kojak lollypop. I suppose my family, friends, and associates, would argue that point since my life has born out what it has in community pillordom.

It’s certainly easy for some people to judge others with a cynical view, especially with a news report that has absolutely no information in it beyond an arrest and there doesn’t even appear to be charges filed.

About the only thing I can find out of place so far from what I have read here is the car being equipped with a siren. I suppose that there may be some reasonable explanation for that added to the existing combination, but as of this moment I don’t know what it is. Where I live a car equipped with a siren is usually either officials or active volunteers. Such things are very limited.

Still, without the actual commission of a crime of some kind, I do not see a case here yet. Not knowing the local laws for his area doesn’t help either. I just have to wonder though if the people who post to these forums automatically assume everyone is guilty of something. Not the mentality I would want to hang around with and definitely a mentality the leftists would love to manipulate.

I have a feeling there is a lot more to this story or possibly even less.

However this claim is curious:

I don’t see that there is anything illegal about having any of these items he had in his car, but that last item is damned curious. Was there a rifle with a scope in his car? If not it’s a non-issue. If there was it still isn’t an illegal act. I will be more convinced that he was up to no good if they had found maps and plans related to the airport, and a rifle with a scope etc.

It will be interesting to see where this leads. I have a funny feeling though that this man’s rights have just been violated.

Final thoughts; Kid was dumb to sit there given the fact that the security/media relations for BO is so high and likely over the top in looking for crumbs like this.

Someone gave a link from the NY Post and claimed the boy has “major issues”. Does the writer know the boy well enough to be able to say that, never having met him, and relying on third hand accounts? I read the article. The article describes the boy’s car as a “bogus police car”. I have seen photos of the car. He wasn’t impersonating a police officer. It is a serious ham radio operators car – antennas, etc. Nerdy maybe but not illegal. It’s also not a crime to be in an airport parking lot. Looks like he is a politically conservative ham radio operator, who likes scanners and legally owns a weapon. He doesn’t seem to be a threat to anyone. Police can make mistakes in judgement. It happens. Could the police have been overzealous here? And reporters trying to make a story where there was none on a slow news day?

Wow can you believe the terrorist videos this white guy had when he got arrested? I have never seen such terrible things this white man had taped. This man is a real Monster no wonder he is on 100,000 bond. This right here should be enough to get this guy the number one FBI terrorist even above Obama, opps I meant Osama.

My God this is the best news ever for South Park. South Park should create a show just as this episode played out. South Park got screwed by the liberals who broadcast South Park and they left the South Park writers out to dry or should I say out to die. The Muslims got Comedy Central to bow to them and they basically shut down Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I hope Trey and Matt tell the liberals to fuck off and they will keep making provocative shows that make people think. These two Liberals are the only two I have seen so far with Balls and I hope they turn conservative after they realize that only conservatives will speak up on their behalf.
