Yep Sandyjo53… I did watch the first part out of this TechCrunch Gathering…. It got worse.. from the beginning… First the CEO to me and others who blogged…. Didn’t seem quite the fit for what the BIG Yahoo is all about… I’m not saying she sounded confused yet it just appeared to me she was hovering near condescending in many parts of the interview. That’s fine.. perhaps it’s her ’style’ whether we like it or not… but it continues to emulsify into something as the above video represents… hence my ultimate Comments above. I think I’m siding with Carol on this one to be honest. It’s all well and good giving advice from the sidelines, but a whole world of difference when you’re the one in charge and ultimately responsible.
I worked in Yahoo! for a couple of years,a couple of years back, and thought Carol was a breath of fresh air, with regards to how determined she was to get things done. I only wish that would spread throughout the company.
She is talking to Michael Arrington. He deserves worse. He knows how to push peoples buttons. Since she did not walk off and we don’t know what happened before her comments, it appears that she was putting up with his crap not the other way around.

Haven’t seen much “exposing the regime” as to Obama/Soetoro from Yahoo. Their “grading system” on comments, also, is defunct and often doesn’t function when someone disagrees with Leftist comments (which seem to be the majority of yahoo users, Leftists from the comments I read there).
The site functions at a crawl, the place is badly designed overall, they completely lack customer service of much of any kind — what paying services I used to have with yahoo I long ago abandoned and it’s only gotten much, much worse with this woman as CEO.
Obama will be on vacation in Chicago on Memorial Day (f/k/a Decoration Day). He will be skipping the Arlington Cemetery Memorial day services. This is the president of the United States of America. He will be voted out of office in 2012.

I watched the entire interview and have to say, the interviewer started off badly by saying, “How the F…. are ya” She probably took that as permission to end it the way she did. Obviously most of you aren’t aware of Michale Arrington’s reputation; just look up on YouTube the clip of tech broadcaster Leo Laporte going off on him for his persistently “trollish” behavior. I’m not surprised she responded this way.
Something about a 50-60 year old woman saying f*** off that is just wrong. Diane Keaton is famous for those outbursts.

I don’t know the context, but the interviewer is slimeball former-lawyer Michael Arrington – and he is one of the more useless things the internet has spawned. Rather than engage, he baits. And he does it for no purpose other than personal grandstanding. So, I am quite sure that F off was, if anything, far less than the beating he deserved. Sometimes the internet raises denizens of the primordial ooze to semi-celebrity status. That certainly describes the interviewer, Arrington. And, judging from the clip, Yahoo’s CEO as well.
It just seems to me that we shouldn’t have to find a search engine company that does a great job without going to something akin to a religious values company to do it. Has the mind set of America so deteriorated that common sense, civility, respect, and at least some moniker of upbringing, can’t be represented naturally? Are these the kind of people we hold up as examples to our children to emanate?
I can make jokes as well as the next guy. I can even make a comment or two, tongue in cheek, that would delve into something a little racy. I just can’t find the humor in degrading yourself and everyone around you and then thinking that it’s OK.
I purposely do not use Google because of their betrayal of the freedom we so Cherish thanks to Google’s efforts in Communist China. When they turned in Chinese dissidents to the ChiComs it was no going back. How many people were tortured, imprisoned, murdered, due to what Google did? We many never get an accurate count, but it’s been far more than just one so far and one is enough. Google’s CEO and share holders all knew what would happen.
Surely there must be a company out there with an outstanding search engine whose people hold themselves to a higher standard. I suspect this video wasn’t expected to become a news item. No one expects all people to be Saints, but I’m reminded of the words of former Congressman JC Watts who so eloquently placed this in the realm of character.
In referring to character, He said, “You see character does count. For too long we have gotten by in a society that says the only thing right is to get by and the only thing wrong is to get caught. Character is doing what’s right when nobody is looking.”
Its good to know the full context here.. and not just only 50 or so seconds. It turns out the vulgarity started with Michael and not Bartz. That said, a CEO has to be smarter than to resort to this. There are many ways to verbally dissect a person than going for the over-the-top vulgarity. Apparently this woman isn’t as intelligent and suave as she thinks she is… unless her plan is to make yahoo the new degenerate, vulgar, porn search engine.
As for the ’small company’ comment. It is my understanding that Bartz did not create or build yahoo. She was hired there. Whereas this Michael fellow is running a business he started on his own. The interviewer came off as a total jerk right off the bat with crude remarks and backhanded insults. He really acted like a punk. The thing is that the Yahoo woman started acting the same way. She came off as arrogant, nasty, crude, and very unprofessional.
