Yes this is a crappy thing to do, and hopefully nobody is put in harms way because of these documents. But I like living in a country where the military should be responsible, and in a worst case, able to defend the things like this if it does. We'll still defend the military even if they do some bad things sometimes but I would like to know what they're doing and how we do it.

I have wrestled with the issue of either calling this guy a hero or a villian.
I have recently wondered, as a Christian, where patriotism fits in with the Bible and how I should view my citizenship (whether my citizenship in Heaven overrides my citizenship in the US). Personally, I have concluded that I must be for the truth at all times. One day I will die. Holding back the truth may extend my life and I may escape judgment on earth, but it only delays the inevitable…I still die and I still will be judged in the end. Is it worth losing my soul? I'm not sure God is worried about one country versus another. What is patriotism to God? What should it be to us? Nations have risen and fallen just like men when they are born and then die. Maybe our focus should be more on the eternal attributes of God such as compassion, mercy, redemption…and truth.

LA Times is a good example,
On one hand they leaked the existence of the program to gather intelligence from cell phone calls from and to the US to foreign parties with suspected terrorist connections. A very successful program that saved both US lives and the lives of foreign citizens in the US and abroad. The leak of this information, changed terrorist practices, reduce security, and endanger life and property. The leak was to advance the LA Times political agenda that is so apparent when one reads what passes for their editorial page (populated by writers that are better known for reviewing TV shows and movies, or wear big hats) that content reflects leftist ideology as low as defending the attorney of Omar Abdel-Rahman, leader of various terrorist groups, whom was responsible for the first World Trade Center Bombing, while attempting to fight deportation. Rahman's attorney Lynne Stewart smuggled his statements out of the SuperMax prison, thus enabling him to communicate with his followers and foment further terrorist activities.
On the other hand they sit on video of the Obama participation in the farewell party for Rashid Khalidi, a former PLO operative and best friend of William Ayers. The LA times has a video of Barack Obama toasting this friend of his, with Bill Ayers at his side, while attending a Jew bashing dinner, and they are refusing to release the video to the public under a supposed promise made to the provider of the video.
It is all so transparent and sad. In a recent discussion of the editorial stance of the paper with a person in the business/advertising end of the operation, I questioned whether the LA Times had studied whether the editorial page was hemorrhaging much needed subscribers when the operation is part of the Tribune Bankruptcy. The executive stated that he believed the editorial page brought in subscribers. Meanwhile, over the last 10 years of Tribune rule, anecdotally, I have been told by numerous ex subscribers that they dropped the paper due to its far left editorial stance.

Darrow stood trial following the conclusion of the McNamara case was found not guilty of bribery on a hung jury, it is unknown if he bribed the jurors in his own case. However, in the following trial Darrow plead guilty to juror intimidation and destruction of evidence and retained his license to practice law.
I bring this up solely for the purpose to propose that were General Otis and Harry Chandler alive today, they might well lead the mob action to blow up their own paper in reaction to what passes for editorial content today.
