In the 1980s I did a morning radio show in New Haven, and the show’s biggest fan was a guy by the name of Jim Thomas. What made the situation unique was that Jim, an extremely honorable man, was the assistant dean and director of admissions to the Yale School of Law. As sole arbitor of who got in and who didn’t, Jim (who is now retired) told me over lunch one day that when the show was not funny, kids who should have been admitted weren’t, and on days we were funny, students who had no business getting in got in. I fear I may have indirectly had a hand in Van Jones being admitted. Forgive…..FORGIVE!

Given that four of five Obama’s early nominees failed to pay taxes and would have never passed muster, he resorted to bringing the help in through the back and cellar doors, without vetting, without Congressional approval and without any resistance whatsoever. Until Van Jones, that is.

Obama believes, as many ill-fated corporate executives have in the past, that flattening out his administration by increasing the number of direct reports will eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy and bottlenecks and help him solve critical problems that much faster. Unfortunately, no one – not even “the messiah” – has that much quality “free time” and that great an attention span to first query and then listen to each direct report, get involved in the nit-grit of the more critical details, think about the ramnifications, shortcomings, alternatives, etc. associated with each direct report’s opinions or recommendations and somehow manage make quality decisions. Obama himself then becomes the biggest bottleneck.

Far better and more experienced lifelong executives than Obama have tried and failed. No shame in working with a practical and efficient hierarchy.

The managerial overwhelm from so many direct reports – add numerous Cabinet members on top of the czars – is eventually compounded when important details are either innocently overlooked or deliberately left out by the direct report in the interests of time and progress. Or, communication just breaks down because of inattention or lack of time.

Lastly, snippets of data – not yet information – somehow magically transform themselves into being facts to run with. The last person standing next to Obama at the urinals in the mens room during the pee break away from the meeting ultimately sets the tone for the meeting once it resumes. Disaster is inevitable.

As a rule of thumb, a good executive should strive to have even better executives working for directly him or her, not ideologues, social malcontents, radical thinkers, loose cannons and career theorists. The better they are, the more concise and accurate the information becomes.

In my 35+ years of being a manager, I have seen very good executives succumb to the flattened out management style once their number of direct reports exceeded say 6 or 7. And 6 or 7 direct reports – at that high a level – is a very full plate indeed. Imagine the plate of a POTUS!

He did what the MSM reporters do and that is artificially constrained the questions to arrive at a desired outcome.

He said we can look at this “ONE OF TWO WAYS”…either the vetting process broke down or the job wasn’t a sufficiently high-ranking position to warrant vetting.

That’s about as bad as Administration responses…don’t answer the questions…direct the attention to provide a planned and controlled outcome.

This was BIASED Reporting! There are a number of additional issues that are raised here. More than “TWO”. Here are just 3 more…there are others.

“Plausible Deniability”: the Administration might not have wanted VJ “vetting” to provide a documented response so that they could claim ignorance if something unacceptable was later “discovered” and brought to the public’s attention. Perhaps they knew something?

“Low-Key”: by not using the questionnaire the Administration might intentionally have been trying to keep VJ’s appointment “under the radar” as much as possible, and hope VJ wouldn’t be exposed to as much scrutiny as other appointees, effectively hiding potentially undesirable affiliations from the public. Remember this is an Administration that continues to refuse complete access to the logs of visitors to the White House (even to Congress under secure conditions) while still claiming it’s the most open and transparent administration EVER. Pre-GWB these logs were NOT “owned” by the President, so transparency has in fact gone down.

“Misrepresent the Power of this Position to the Public”: This “advisory” position in fact wields tremendous power. Political and financial. It has a direct line to the President of the U.S. It has the power to virtually destroy the financials of companies, and arbitrarily limit energy and product choices available to the public. This is VERY similar to the way that Mark Lloyd intends to use the FCC to do an end-run around Congress and exercise control over broadcasting, satellite, news content, commentator content, internet fora, blogs, etc. etc. without depending on resurrecting the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” which has been shot down multiple times. Lloyd will try to use the FCC to impose “someone’s” political will on the entire communications landscape without any mandate or even oversight from Congress, and provide the control model for other “Czars”.

Examine each MSM source one more time to determine who advertises on or in them. Then, boycotts product sold by those the advertisers. I have admitted I should have been more vigilant when Bush was talking about keeping us safe but keeping the border open, medicare druge, and several other things. But, please watch some of the Mr. Jones videos and his calls to change our system. As he described himself a commmunist, statements like these are scary to people who believe in the constitution.

i just heard on Fox News that none of the czars filled out the forms discussed in this video. That means we have people advising the president that have NOT been properly vetted at all. What is with this country!!!! I have not heard so much racism and other kinds of hate speech thrown around since the ’60s!!! That was a very nasty time when a lot of people were killed because of race, religion, and their beliefs that that the government was pretty screwed up. Check this out my fellow humans, the world has this problem now. It isn’t just country-country-country anymore. Sooner or later we’re going to have to learn to get along, one way or another. Sure, every government has it’s ups and downs. Someone mentioned something about the “high quality of living” in the USA. That “high quality” is falling fast. Democracy is a pretty good concept for a government, but it doesn’t seem to be working that well anymore. And those who are freaking out about this country becoming socialist or something, we already are in some ways: the public school system, postal service, FCC, Social Security, etc. are all government run which is a form of socialism/communism. So far those things have worked out ok, right? I’m not for going 100% socialist or communist because history has shown that those don’t work so well. Maybe it’s time for another concept of government? Something that entails the best qualities of every kind of government that has ever existed.

Your Mother, I said “when” unemployment is 50%,not that it is now. I am sure this president can find some way to get it there without much trouble. Its an old story but people need to remember it when they start discussing redistribution of wealth, and taxs.

Ten men go out for beer. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. He said, “Since you are all such good customers, I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.”

Whomever keeps talking about the FCC shutting down television stations, obviously you don’t much do you? The Fairness Doctrine doesn’t have any effect on cable news or other network outlet. It would just affect talk radio. So, before you spout off how you own (and I was confused – does that mean you personally own the FCC) the FCC, take time to read up to become a little more educated about this. See, the Fairness Doctrine only affects talk radio, not cable or network television. Cable and network are different from talk radio. So, Fox News isn’t going anywhere, nor is Glen Beck (esp. with his rating numbers). If anyone tries, I believe the protesting will be larger than what’s happening right now. And honestly, I think it will be the end of the Democrat party if they try to enact the Fairness Doctrine or any form of it.

Someone else mentioned it early but I have to agree. All policy initiatives need to be put on hold until congress has had a chance to review who these czars are. Are these the best and brightest in America to oversee some of the biggest fundamental changes we have ever gone through. Or, are all these czars just payback for helping Obama get elected? My worry is the latter.

I would like to see the rest of the 800 Billion stimulus money put on hold. We need to be assured some watchdog is overseeing who is getting the money and oversees that it is used for the stated purpose. All I keep seeing are massive custs in state, county, and city services and also private company layoffs. How exactly is this stimulus bill supposed to help fix the economy?

As far as Van Jones and all the rest of Obama’s “advisors” when did it become legal for a president to just create a position in the government, without the Congress voted to fund this job. He did not cause 9/11 but reacted to a threat just as they would react to a threat to their personal safety. He stood firm in the face of danger and we prospered. Business cycles kicked in and now another Pres. is using the wrong moves to correc the business cycle. Hard work does pay off and you don’t have to USE people to make it. Those are Republican values and we can bring GOOD CHANGE to our country.

All this does is tell me how truly sad the current administration is. Hey DavidToo: Van Jones is not an “attorney.” He has a law degree bestowed by Yale to meet its quota. A lawyer becomes an attorney when he or she is hired by a client. Obviously Jones has never been “hired” by anyone except the White House, and certainly not as an attorney.

Van Jones has a law degree but there is no evidence that he ever applied for or passed a Bar Exam in any State. So, he is NOT an attorney. He was a jive community organizer (in Oakland, CA) like Barry Obummer.
He was “recruited” by Valerie Jarrett and probably Michelle Obama. They knew EXACTLY who this Radical nutball was, and so did the “President.” He just didn’t think the “stupid” white people whould find out.

Valerie Jarrett is the same Socialist that told us that Obama would be ready to “RULE” from day one. Who rules or ruled? Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Kim Jong Il, Chavez, Castro, Pol Pot. Not the President of the US who is to lead the country. But not Obama, he is to RULE us, and he is trying his best to institute his Socialist/Communist policies at breakneck speed.

Van Jones didn’t need to be “vetted” or made to answer any questions or fill out papers because Obama knows he is a self avowed Communist. He fits seamlesssly into the Obama administration and the Democratic wing of the goverment as is now sitting.

Obama knew/knows he is anti-white, anti-Republican, anti-American and a hate monger. And Obama doesn’t care what we “normal folks” (as he likes to call us) think about anything he does. He has a “snitch” line all set up (and you are stupid enought to believe he took it down? LOL) so that Americans can “rat out” anyone that disagrees with the President’s policies.

I’m on that list I know, because I turned myself in. I’m not afraid of Mein Fuhrer. He can kill me but he can’t keep freedom loving Americans from excercising their rights, no matter how much he tries to browbeat us and tell us it’s “for the children”.

Van Jones? Just another Communist/Socialist lackey of the Obama administration along with Biden, Waxman, Boxer, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Dodd, Frank, Feinstein, the “next” Kennedy, Murtha, Daschle and the rest of them.

It’s time for REAL Americans to start voicing their concerns. Obama is already staging an “economic comeback” so that next November he can point to himself and say that he and the Democrats saved America. (Let’s see, when Bush left office the deficit was 1.3 trillion or so. Now it’s estimated to be over 9 trillion, in only 8 months). Yes, Obama is doing such a wonderful job.

Where are the MILLIONS of jobs he promised us? Where is the (no higher than) 8% unemployment he promised us? Where are the “no tax increases” he promised us (as my utility bill has doubled in the past 3 months)? Where are the mysterious “57 states” he speaks of (I thought the US was only 50 states)?

Why is it everytime he or his cronies speak they are lying or talking “down” to us? Didn’t WE ELECT THEM?

I saw the Kenyan Birth certificate. It is my understanding that if either one of your parents is an American it doesn’t matter where you were born. You are an American. Therefore, as much as I think this poser is as bad as it can get, he’s an American…who happens to have socialist ideals…

I am not one of the “Birther’s,” glenn, but I can tell you that all Presidents are required to be BORN IN THE UNITED STATES, unless they have a situation like John McCain, whose father was a Navy Commander and was stationed in Panama Canal zone when McCain was born there. IF Obama was born in Kenya, and I don’t know that, he would not be considered a Natural Born Citizen.

Obama administration will be a lame duck administration by the end of 2010. There is no way he can say he is not what he is.

They are televising the National Tea Party in Washington DC where hundreds of thousands, if not a million or more, citizens will march down Pennsylvania Avenue in protest of Obama’s Socialist agenda, spending, printing money, taxation, Illegal Czar’s, etc. We are taking back our country but you won’t hear about it on ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC or any of the scumbag liberal newspapers. It’s quite amazing to see comments like those of Tamika. Obviously she’s an idiot. Congress will not vote to change the term laws…and do you know why? Because they would like to get voted back into office and that would surely seal the deal on any idiot congressman who would vote for it…that is even if it came to a vote. We live in a country where you have to answer to the people. A lot of Democrats were fooled by Obama and voted him in. He will never win a second term. The problem with people like you is you think this president is going to give you more handouts when you should be thinking how you can be a productive member of this society. Tamika: The only way that Obama can be “President for Life” is to repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. You have heard of the Constitution haven’t you? It’s that pesky little document that the Founding Fathers drafted back in the late 1700s. It would take an affirmative vote (not to be confused with affirmative action- but I digress) of 3/4 of the states to do this. In the future, please know how the governing process works before you shoot off your mouth.

In the dark of night over a Labor Day Weekend the Obama administration once again shows it’s transparency. LMAO! And the media (except for FOX NEWS) is again silent.

You are kidding correct? So the FCC is going to shut down a single radio announcer and the congress is going to eliminate term limits. Since you missed civics in highs school apparently, congress can’t pass a constitutional amendment alone. You also need the states to agree. Passing a constitutional amendedmend is exceedingly difficult (see ERA amendment which still hasn’t passed), if not close to impossible. This is why liberals like judicial activism and interpreting things in the constitution which don’t exist; they want to bypass the hurdles that the framers designed by just declaring that it is in the constitution (i.e., they are intellectually dishonest). Second shutting down a radio talk show host because he disagrees with the people in power’s view is not only an affront to the first amendment (which actually is in the constitution) it might constitute a bill of attainder (making it unconstitutional for two reasons). Last I checked, you may control congress and the white house, but there is a conservative majority in the supreme court. So, see there is something we can do about it–go to Court. See that check and balance thing while inconvenient to your agenda is actually designed to prevent people who think like you from usurping power you should never have–to shut down dissent.
