More central planning to fix the central planning that didn’t work so we will get more central planning to fix the new central planning which won’t work. Good to know the we have entered the Marx death cycle. Worked so well in the former USSR and Cuba. How many stupid Americans does it take to destroy our nation? A. 51%
Has this genius ever heard of a bill of attainder?
The answer, probably is yes. But it’s so much fun to get all this publicity – great for the ol’ re-election campaign.
I think the bonuses stink as much as Cong. Welch does. But maybe, just maybe, he can spend less time mugging for the cameras and more trying to find a legal way of doing something about them.
Nothing like our Congress that takes our money and rips us off. Maybe the Congress should stop voting themselves pay raises that they have not earned and tax themselves 50 percent. You notice this ass is in the Burlington International Airport where the TSA Gestapo can protect his stupid ass.
Is everybody at G.M. going to get their bonuses taxed this harshly?

The banks shouldn’t have taken the money.
You think all of this is going to stop there?
Nice scam.
The government takes money from citizens via taxes. And it borrows money from other nations obligating future taxpayers to repay the borrowed money.
The government then loans the taxes and borrowed money to any and all deemed worthy by the government. This usually consists of those who contribute money to the people in the government, their business associates, relatives or friends.
Now the government levies a 50% tax on the individuals of the institutions who received tax/borrowed monies.
Now who believes that those who funded the treasury in the first place, along with those who will be obligated to repay the borrowed money, will will ever see a penny returned to their possession.
Government as Black Hole.
Joe Ryder I agree 100% Congress has done a piss poor job. They are not earning their money and do not deserve a raise let alone a paycheck. It is time that we vote these people out of office.
How can I introduce legislation to tax politicians and their staff 98%
People get so hung up on the word ‘bonus’ as if these people are getting patted on the back for doing a great job. The company writes a contract that says something like “We will pay you somewhere between $110,000 and $390,000 this year depending on how well your portfolio performs.” According to how that monument to simplicity, the US tax code, works this is a $110K salary and a bonus of up to $280K.
Once signed, these are legal obligations that the company can’t get renege on (legally). Congress has been particularly hamfisted in how it has treated these bonuses so far, since people at AIG got to keep theirs, people at other banks didn’t, so much for equal protection and all those old-fashioned notions of being a nation of laws not of men.
If one’s gripe is that these people are overpaid, blame the executives and boards who approved the contracts. If one’s gripe is that the financial incentives lead employees to behavior that’s risky for the bank, blame the executives and boards who approved the contracts. If one’s gripe is that contracts seem less reliable and there is a brain-drain from the TARP companies (you know, the ones partially owned by taxpayers), blame the Congress for getting involved in things that are way to complicated to be argued in soundbites.
Taxing the bonuses away doesn’t seem to address either concern.
okay, I can go with this as long as the Senate , Congress, Frannie fraud and Freddie butt head get them same laws.
Rep. Welch the same man who allows child pedophiles go free in his state. I guess the Socialist party loves taxes and child rape.
50%…Only 50%? Why not 99%?
does ANYONE still believe that these lefty dimo aren’t marxists? if these banking executives don’t cut and run from vermont they’re nuts!
SOCIALISM…
He is a “trust fund baby.” He does not have a clue about job creation and incentives to produce. The best and harder workers should not be punished. Oh yeah, I met the guy. He is out of touch and a true cool aid drinker. You should hear him. This is only the tip of the iceberg. He is Bernie Sanders junior. I met him too. Sanders is certifiable crazy.
First the Wallstreet bad guys then the rest of us. It will not stop because the liberals need to fabricate any means to support their insatiable spending. Stop them now – by any means if the the ballot box doesn’t work. We need to implement ” CHANGE THAT WE THE PEOPLE CAN BELIEVE IN “
IN VENEZUELA, HUGO CHAVEZ IS DOING THE SAME THING.
Atruly great place to start to get OUR money back would be Congress itself. Put a 75% penalty on their Health and Pesnion plan. Put a 50% tax on earnings including monies from lobbyists and special interest groups. Cut their staffs by 50%, cut their mailing privledges by 75%. We elected these idiots and they of both parties are incompetent to run a car wash, so why do folks keep electing these morons? Wake up people, time for a reality check, before we lose more of our Country to the current crop of incompetent idiots, in Washington, same for State and Local government bodies.
If that is the case Congressman than I expect in the same bill you will require Congress and the Senate all to give back 75% of what you make to the American Taxpayer. You are only there 25% of the time we are paying for so by your logic you owe me money.
Cough it up or pay at the polls.
i think we need to have a 50% tax on all the pension benefits of these overpaid elite scum Marxist thugs stealing from the working American families pockets.
Only 50%? His comrade from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, must be very disappointed…
I want to see a bill that mandates congress live under all the laws they pass.
Remove the ability to vote themselves a pay raise.
Require that they all must have the very same health care they are trying to force on us.
Take away their “Golden Parachute” retirement package…
Why the F should public servants have benefits outrageously better than the very people they supposedly serve???
And at our expense???
They are pigs feeding of the taxpayers…
How bout we take 99% of every Senators under the table graft from special interest groups….
That would be fair…
How about taxing congressional/senate speaking fees and book royalties both while in power and after they have been voted out.
fifty percent! only
Can we tax moronic Reps. AND Sens. TOO!!!! What a dumbass….
The Banks RUN by the U.S. Government, Fanny Mae & Freddy Mac who caused the banking meltdown by bills, written by Democrats, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank and FORCED into effect at the time, by Janet Reno under orders by Bill Clinton are exempt from this tax AND the new rules OBAMA places on banks. Where are the Constitutional Lawyers on this?
Obama, can’t get the unions to help pay for their share of the Health-care bill so Obama changes the rules and fines the big banks for the money. Does anyone believe THAT money won’t go straight into the numbers to pay for Health-care. This MADMAN in the White House will see his party fall apart in a matter of months. SEND MONEY, VOTE SCOTT BROWN for Senator:

I wish he was as concerned about the child pedophiles in his own state as he is about taxing America to hell.
Putin Says Chlorine in Chickens Unsafe
by Dan Flynn | Jan 16, 2010
Getting another American chicken into Russia just got harder.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin weighed into the Russian ban on U.S. chicken imports.
“We haven’t seen any readiness to meet Russian standards on the part of some of our partners, mainly the companies from the United States,” Putin said. “If our foreign suppliers are unable or reluctant to meet our security requirements, we will use other sources.”
The Russians banned chickens from countries using chlorine in poultry processing beginning Jan. 1 2010. Putin made the Americans the odd man out saying that Russia was merely joining the European Union in banning, for food safety reasons, chickens from chlorine-using counties.
“One shouldn’t look for political background in this case, God forbid,” said Russia’s former President and one-time KGB agent. “No political background here!”
Putin attended a meeting on Russian poultry production where it was announced that the country would import a total of 780,000 metric tons of poultry in 2010, and then continue to reduce imports in the years ahead.
The American quota would be 600,000 metric tons for 2010, down 20 percent from 2009. Since the ban, however, prices for American poultry in Russia are up about 20 percent.
Putin wants Russia to be poultry self-sufficient by 2015.
Since Russia raised the possibility of banning U.S. chickens for chlorine use in mid 2008, the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council has tried to persuade officials in Moscow by sharing scientific studies. The poultry export market to Russia was valued at $825 million in 2008.
“The U.S. industry is committed to providing safe and healthful products to consumers in the United States as well as those in over 130 countries around the world, including Russia,” the USA Poultry and Egg Council said in a letter to Russian officials in late 2009,
The letter said the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) recommends the “use of hypochlorus (i.e. active chlorine) solutions as an effective antimicrobial.
“Based on a substantial body of scientific studies, FSIS’ best practices recommendations is to use 20-50 ppm of free available chlorine in immersion chilling systems.”
Before the prime minister got involved in the issue, many on the American side were optimistic about getting American chickens back into Russia. Now, however, Putin’s response to American arguments about the safety and science behind chlorine can pretty much be summer up in one word: “Nyet.
