It sounds like you’re Muslim, so you won’t like that, but Islam is more of a threat to America than Judaism both ideologically and in terms of national security. O.k., see that I also find very disturbing if true. Our founders did not feel this way about the “Holy Land”, nor did America’s earliest theologians (Jonathan Edwards etc.) and would be turning over in their graves to hear this come out of the mouth of a Statesman. I am opposed to Zionism on a theological level, but honestly every nation thinks they have God’s blessing. Fine and dandy, just so long as they don’t come to my nation and try to blow me up to force that “blessing” upon me. I would venture to guess that most J3ws even in Israel are fairly secularized, as most “Christians” in America are, and have no interest in “world domination,” or fighting Palestinians, but simply want to work their 40 hours and have a few beers on the weekend. No problem with that. The real problem is folks like Hal Lindsey and their “dispensationalism,” who have brainwashed people that God will curse the Church if she doesn’t blindly support the modern nation of Israel and think the world is always on the brink of the apocalypse. Since the turn of the 20th century it has spread like a cancer in the Church to the point where most people associate Christianity with the “Left Behind” books, and think Kirk Cameron is an authority on the topic. As far as I’m concerned, Israel (like Saudi Arabia, or Germany) is an ally as long as we share a mutual trust and interests, but if that ever goes south, then whatever.
