It’s actually a quite smart political move by the people of Iran. Europe and America are hemorrhaging revolutionary emotion but are restrained by their oppressive governments. Understanding why the Iranians might want to over throw their government, just as they want to overthrow theirs, the citizens of the west nearly unanimously support Iranian revolution.

I worked and lived in Iran for 2 years leading up to the “revolution.” I was not military. I lived among the people, ate their food, and learned the language. My friend’s apartment was blasted by random machine gun fire, and other friends were smuggled to the airport in the trunk of a Swiss Embassy car. I have a small amount of experience to speak from.
You cannot pin this on Bush, Consider that it was Jimmy Carter whose inaction prolonged the hostage crisis that was only resolved when Regan took office.
The Persians are enamored with their greatness of centuries ago, and have difficulty understanding that the Persian empire is gone, yet this historical nationalism is what Ahmadinejad appeals to. On the other hand, the demonstrators simply see that there is something better for them. The Iranians I speak to uniformly wish that the conditions that existed when the Shah was there would return–not the Pahlavi monarchy–but the progressive and prosperous direction of their country.
The US has no room to be smug. We currently have a congress that ignores the wishes of its people and and administration that calls segments of the citizenry “right-wing radicals,” thugs or losers (tea parties). Be concerned America. Be very concerned.

And people thought the right was exaggerating about “death panels”.
What else do you call it when your doctor recommends a crucial treatment and the government says – nope, not on the list, tough luck.
Canadians run to America when this happens. Where are Americans going to run to?

Rexter, you are sadly misinformed. There is NO SUCH THING as Palestinian people.
Your so-called Palestinians are Egyptians, Saudi’s, Persians, Sudanese, Balkan, Turks etc. nomadic gypsies. They were low-class nomads spit on and exiled by their own countries and shunned by most of the middle east until they were suddenly embraced when they proved a valuable pest to infest the borders of Israel.
The whole native ‘Palestinian people’ movement was fabricated simply to hinder the return of a Jewish homeland to the Jews in 1948 for the first time since the Romans drove the Jews out in 63BC.
The very word Palestine came from mis-use of the word Philistine. Do a little homework before you buy into the fabricated victimology. The modern day Palestinian people don’t exist; Yassar Arafat the father of the PLO was Egyptian for crikey’s sake.

The reason why Americans are fighting for their freedom (and their lives) against a radical leftist cabal in the White House and Congress (which is showing utter contempt for the will of 65% of voters on crucial issues like health care and Cap and Trade), is because the USSR influenced and funded and infiltrated many radical 60’s leftist groups
Actually, they did it in the 30’s and it is why that Commie FDR dragged the US in to WWII on the side of the evil Soviets.

The “right” is either a joke or non-existent in this country depending on how you look at it. Those interested in liberty and politically aware know that there must be death panels in the bill – it is the main reason for the bill. We also know this is not the end-of-life consultants which were included as a red herring. As if you are going to have a CHOICE! No, death panels are much more sinister but they do exist in insurance plans or any pre-paid system.

Well, the Chinese as a whole (though there are tons of smaller groups of ethnicity) own China. The Americans as a whole (made up of a whole bunch of races and nationalities) own a big chunk of North America. The Brits got the UK and their cousins got Australia. Africans (when they aren’t too busy killing off each other) has the continent of Africa, and a whole bunch of small groups of people own this piece of land or that piece of land throughout the earth.
As far as a certain color of people ethnically cleansing another, whites aren’t the only ones. That’s been going on for as long as we (as a people) have been around. Try not to pin it just on the good ol crackers. They have done some bad things, but so have blacks, latinos, asians, indians (both indian and native americans) and just about any race, color, or creed you wanna throw out there.
And as far as being pissy about israelis striking back. I’d sure as hell be pissed too if land I gave back was being used to launch shit rockets at me. The israelis are also the only ones who have given any land to the palestinians. The rich arabs just use them as a poster child for anything that suits them. They could care less if the palestinians get back anything.
I think this is a great tactic. Protesters should be run over by law enforcement whenever they block traffic. Hey there buddy, you seem to think that your cause, whatever it is, entitles you to stop me from using the street. Let me just make a quick 911 call here, and in a few minutes the cops will show up and toss your self-important carcass to the curb (literally).
The tolerance of the Middle East for cruelty is a shocking fact, even in the 21st century. But the laws of Cosmos are not suspended, even to gain political advantage or carry out some religiously sanctioned scheme. Those who cruelly and deliberately assaulted helpless civilians with vehicles must pay the penalty, and nothing and no one on earth can prevent that. The same experience will befall the ones who did it, to a greater or lesser degree, depending on their understanding of the act at the time they committed the act. This is immutable law, and the reckoning must come. No doctrine on earth can bypass the simplest of propositions: what you do will be done to you, therefore do only good.
Rexter. Why do you hate Israel so much for doing the same thing you are applauding the Iranians for? Besides, Israel existed long before Palestine. In fact, when Joshua led the Isrealites to Canaan, now Israel, the only people there were the Canaanites, and they were brutally eliminated. The palestinians are the garbage that filled the void after the Byzantines left in the first millenium after the rise of Islam sent people into jewish land. So historically, that’s Israel.
I’m not a fan of obama or the tyrant in Iran but I’ve got an important question we as Americans should consider: What do we as Americans gain by getting involved in Iranian politics? Will it make you safer? Will it bring jobs to the US? Will it reduce our deficit? Help close the trade gap? Does it do one positive thing for our way of life? Or are we being played by the military complex to force their agenda. How well did it work out in Iraq and Afghanistan? Consider the source, when was the last time CNN grabbed a story that didn’t further a bigger agenda. Don’t be played….
The sad thing is that when I read the link on the Drudge Report it was worded thus: “Police Using Vehicles to Plow Into Protesters…”
And, God help us, I immediately assumed this was happening in the USA.

If we are, how much would you guess you would take to continue to go out into a relatively safe area and risk being beaten to death by Govt. agents, run over by Govt. vehicles, and run the risk of having your family snatched from their beds at night to smoke you out? People, wake up…the Iranian Govt. is responsible for the deaths, they are responsible for the hostage situation over 20 years ago. The people by and large have no voice, they are simply gears in the machine, and the machine is revolting against it’s design.
Liberals and fascist Democrats are sooooo concerned about terrorist rights, and “alleged”, ding dong plane bombers, and care so little for oppressed people.
