US Air Force Gives Big Contract To Brazil

Questions are being raised asking why the Air Force would go outside the US.

Obama supporting his socialist friends again I presume.

easye2984   January 19th, 2012 - 12:26 pm

Barack Obama is the worst president in the history of the United States.

TrueBlueMormon   January 19th, 2012 - 12:26 pm

Wow….what are we thinking !!!! can you say kickback !!!

BobSalem   January 19th, 2012 - 12:26 pm

Well, with Obummer and his cronies where did anyone expect these contracts to go…to Americans? The traitor in the White House is full steam ahead with his transformation of America.

45coltauto   January 19th, 2012 - 12:28 pm

Soros owns the company that is getting the contract. How much you want to bet?

mackycat   January 19th, 2012 - 12:28 pm

Obama = higher unemployment for Americans.

People who say the economy is improving are dumb.

If the economy is improving (and it's not), it's doing so in spite of the Obama admin, not because of it.

Just wait until more American defense contractors have to lay off workers thanks to the cuts in defense spending.

EricBrodin   January 19th, 2012 - 12:29 pm

First he nixed the pipeline, now this. Does Obama even care about jobs in the US?

jimgur   January 19th, 2012 - 12:30 pm

Htos1   January 19th, 2012 - 12:32 pm

This IS racist. Not a lot of whites running Brazil.See how that works. For some reason, native equatorials tend to collectivist systems,we do not.

Petroglyph   January 19th, 2012 - 12:34 pm

I would not take that bet.

It seems like anything which defames and destroys America leads back to that very man, every time.

HookedOnObonics   January 19th, 2012 - 12:35 pm

He said he would get America working…Unfortunately, he didn't specify that he meant South America

Obamarrhoids1   January 19th, 2012 - 12:35 pm

Whoever is even questioning whether or not Obama hates this country should have their genitals removed.

This punk is dead set on making the greatest country in the history of the world, irrelevant and weak.

ChiTownTom   January 19th, 2012 - 12:36 pm

Brazilians do the jobs Americans are too unemployed to do…

Nails it!

Deusexmachina   January 19th, 2012 - 12:40 pm

I'm sure Soros is getting a kickback…

theblessedresistance   January 19th, 2012 - 12:45 pm

i guess brazil is not a "right to work state"

9261964   January 19th, 2012 - 12:46 pm

It's not just the planes. There are generally long term parts and maintenance contracts that go with these deals and that's where the companies make lots of additional money. That's also usually where the fleecing goes on. It would be worth watching the figures once the outrage about this deal passes. An enterprising Congressman should make it his mission to watch this project, but I have a feeling those guys are few and far between.

Wigglesworth   January 19th, 2012 - 12:46 pm

Obama would rather give Americans food stamps.

MusicCityDawg   January 19th, 2012 - 12:47 pm

The Clintons had China funneling money into Bill's campaign and apparently Obama has Brazil.

R_Swift   January 19th, 2012 - 12:49 pm

No contracts for vital components to our military or anything to do with national security should ever go beyond our borders.

IronTigersVet   January 19th, 2012 - 12:51 pm

And from what I have seen, he nixed the pipeline from Canada. That right there would have employed quite a few people and sent more petrol our way instead of getting it from the middle east.

BHO is screwing the US as quick as he can just in case he doesn't win. If he does, it'll be even worse.

Navy Gentleman   January 19th, 2012 - 12:54 pm

That is a great slogan for Obama's Jobs Program.

NotKennedy   January 19th, 2012 - 12:56 pm

One word explains why they went ex-CONUS: UNIONS!

Strays   January 19th, 2012 - 12:58 pm

Redistribution of jobs = redistribution of wealth.

First Soros exported all oil jobs to off-shore drilling in Brazil along with a 600 billion Dollar investment loan.

Now all the aircraft jobs are getting exported to Brazil (and, if you just dig deep enough, you'll find another investment accompanying it).

Any questions?

Egfrow   January 19th, 2012 - 1:00 pm

I wonder how many Washington insiders within the Obama Circles have heavy investments into Brazil industries such as Oil and Gas, and now aviation or how many short sold shares of US firms in competition with Brazil.

Navy Gentleman   January 19th, 2012 - 1:01 pm

What is it with Brazil and Obama?

How much money have we spent on Brazil now?

Tomtom29   January 19th, 2012 - 1:01 pm

First Petrobras and now this. Obama is going to retire to Brazil, I guess.

Egfrow   January 19th, 2012 - 1:02 pm

Not exactly 100% proven but there is a loose link between Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry in China, which George Soros holds a minor stake in, and Embraer of Brazil. Not enough to point the finger but enough to perk your ears up, if you were a dog of course because humans can't do that. My Guess would be Embraer Brazil will sub parts out that China offshoot.

Deusexmachina   January 19th, 2012 - 1:03 pm

He's got a lot of 'investments' in Brazil…

and Natzi friends too…

Navy Gentleman   January 19th, 2012 - 1:03 pm

I'm hoping we can change that in November.

Capt_Knuckles   January 19th, 2012 - 1:04 pm

You can start with a name change like "ChiComTom" and Barry's moderators will seek you out for a paid position or maybe even a Czar!!
<joke> lol

OldmanRick   January 19th, 2012 - 1:05 pm

It would be interesting to know how much stock soros or other toddler friends have in the Brazilian company.

ChiTownTom   January 19th, 2012 - 1:06 pm

Yep…

ret_cpo   January 19th, 2012 - 1:08 pm

It has to do with a fellow named George Soros.

ChiTownTom   January 19th, 2012 - 1:08 pm

Czarships are a dime a dozen…I was hoping to get a position on Michelle's advance vacation team. They do work a lot but it is a union gig…

John Galt   January 19th, 2012 - 1:38 pm

Barack Hussein Obama ……….a.k.a Barry Soetoro………a.k.a. Harrison J. Bounell………..First of all, what the hell are we doing putting a man with several aliases into the Presidency.

Second, the Charlatan-In-Chief is going to give us another speech telling us how he is LASER FOCUSED on job creation as he sends more business overseas……..shuts down the Keystone Pipeline……and dances off to Disneyland.

I ask you, is it even possible to have a President who could be any worse? By the way Barack, it's now over one thousand days that you have been in office and we STILL DO NOT HAVE A BUDGET. You really should be impeached.

Gorio   January 19th, 2012 - 1:40 pm

Soros is a primary in the Embraer company. Headline should read "Obama gives USAF contract to George"

Gorio   January 19th, 2012 - 1:41 pm

Obama should be tried for treason for this move.

Give the contract to Brazil, when Hawker Beachcraft was not allowed to even bit. And they already have a trainer that passes Air Force spec…
So now no drilling in the Gulf when a chinese rig just parked off Cuba, no transcanada pipeline, no USAF contract, No more full military, and today the US comminuist org. called the federal govt. shut down 50 web sites… Guess that is Oblamers way of saying F U.

duh_swami   January 19th, 2012 - 2:19 pm

Brazil is getting hope and a lot of change, it won't be long til they too are ruined…Hope and change has ruined everything it touches…Lots wife looked at it and she got stoned…Look what it did to Ron Paul….

I live in Wichita Kansas, the Air capital of the world, Hawker Beechcraft did not even have any chance to bid on the Air Force contract thanks to our dirt bag Retard in the white house. I hope Hawker can when in court. This remnds me of the Refueling Tanker deal that was awarded to Airbus but was awarded to Boeing after a legal fight. God help the US of A and help us win our country back from this communist.

It's a turboprop with a 50 year old engine and a 1940's design…. They use them for training and target practice and to help great air forces like Mexico, Morocco, Greece, Iraq… An AK-47 could defeat one. Sort of a flying bullet hole. It's the plan you hope the enemy has. In the world of military aircraft, it's a rickshaw…

They were supposed to cost $3m each but cost over runs and mismanagement let them go for $6M… The military is simply got very tired of dealing with Hawker as a company. 1200 jobs for $1.000,000,000.00 – That is $833k per job…

Romney would buy out Hawker, fire everyone, and put up a nice Walmart… Let Brazil make these flying dinosaurs just like India still makes vinyl records. Turn those 1200 jobs into 33,000 jobs at Walmart….

Obama lends money to South America to build refinery now they are building aircraft down there. I love it!

Koropokkur   January 19th, 2012 - 2:39 pm

You are correct!!!
Soros owns a controlling share in Hainan airlines… Embraer/Hainan is a Chinese/Brazilian Joint Venture Airline and Soros is Heavily, if not, Totally invested!!!

Can you say PetroBras… Again?!!!

Obamaisatraitor   January 19th, 2012 - 2:41 pm

Make that marxist friends.

nceeno   January 19th, 2012 - 2:42 pm

Embraer won over Hawker Beechcraft, which is partially owned by Goldman Sachs.
$355 million for counterinsurgency aircraft. What the hell is that??
Sounds like something prop driven.

This was all for US-Brazil relations.
In an effort to get Brazil to dump Iran, we gave them a contract that will allow Brazil's Embraer to go global and give us 20 planes.
That's almost $18 million for each plane. Not quite the cost of a Raptor, but necessary??

Obamaisatraitor   January 19th, 2012 - 2:43 pm

Paying off his massa.

snailmailtrucker   January 19th, 2012 - 2:46 pm

Maybe we can get those planes to fly back some of the oil
Obama gave Brazil $2 BILLION dollars of my money to explore and drill for.

and the a$$ ho le in chief refuses to allow America to drill right in our own country.

Someone please wake me up from this liberal nightmare !

Nochangeleft   January 19th, 2012 - 2:51 pm

redlion   January 19th, 2012 - 2:54 pm

Obama and Soros want white American wealth drained out of this country. And, there are two ways to do it, one, by buying Brazil's soon to be developed oil and two, military weapons systems. After all, who consumes more oil and has the largest military budget in the world? And, who consumes a huge amount of oil in this country? The military.

We must face the fact that Obama believes he was elected to "level the world's wealth field" and this is just another example of how he's going about it. He was at Disney World today urging Americans to live in La-La land but in the deep recesses of the W.H. deals like this are being struck.

servantshart12   January 19th, 2012 - 3:06 pm

At first I thought it's a bad idea, but maybe He is trying to throw them a bone to keep the Chinees from warming up to them.

Mere words cannot express my disgust for this POS alleged president BO. I think more needs to heard from Larry Sinclair about now.
BO killed oil jobs, Boeing jobs, defense jobs, general aviation jobs, Las Vegas jobs, the pipeline jobs, and now more aircraft manufacturing jobs.

The good news is, there will be a hearing in Georgia on Jan 28th regarding BO's eligibility to get on the Georgia ballot. "from WND- The schedule for the hearings was set by Judge Michael M. Malihi of the Georgia state Office of State Administrative Hearings. In Georgia, a state law requires “every candidate for federal” office who is certified by the state executive committees of a political party or who files a notice of candidacy “shall meet the constitutional and statutory qualifications for holding the office being sought.”

Communist………….

jltjltjlt   January 19th, 2012 - 4:57 pm

There is definitely an intensified leverage of power between Washington and private American companies as both sides now dance between the options of contracting/operating within US borders or abroad. This "USAF granting a contract to Brazil" clip reminds me of another video I saw this week called "Outsmarting Obama" by "Wild Bill for America" where he presents a possible ultimatum if the Fed Gov does not recede on its excessive taxes and regulations of US businesses and industries:

guan_yu   January 19th, 2012 - 5:15 pm

Before everyone get too carried away chest thumping, here are the facts.

The airplane in question is the Super Tucano.

In 2008, the Navy and Special Operations Command tested this aircraft for use as light support platform for SEAL's. It won rave reviews and the Navy was preparing to order the aircraft.

The process was so far along that the aircraft was designated A-26.

The USAF saw the test results and decided to buy 100 A-26 for use in low intensity warfare and counterinsurgency. The Army has been demanding this exact type of plane for decades.

The Afghan Air Force also decided to buy 20 A-26.

The A-26 has a proven combat record. It has been in regular use against FARC and narco-terrorist in Columbia.

Right as the contracts were being finalized, in walks the Kansas Congressional delegation and union bosses who threw a wrench in the works.

Why?

They want the military to buy the Hawker Beechcraft AT-6 which is built in Kansas.

They demanded that the military conduct a whole new trial this time including the AT-6.

The military said they would not consider the AT-6 because it was too small, too short ranged, too slow and not designed to carry ordinance or electronic countermeasures.

Basically it could not survive in a hostile environment.

The AT-6 is a basic flight trainer, a licensed built copy of the Swiss Pilatus.

While the A-26 is a purpose built combat aircraft.

What this story is really about is how crony capitalism is alive and well and maybe endangering the lives of our military.

Even more shocking is that Hawker is going to try to legislate in court what is a military decision.

….

Oh and by the way….

The Super Tucano will be built in Jacksonville, Florida. The avionics, sensors and weapons systems will all be American and the engine is made by Pratt and Whitney.
…….

Now if I had my way, I'd have them pull out the old plans and build some A-1 Spad's.

Sadly, that's not going to happen.

guan_yu   January 19th, 2012 - 5:38 pm

What the heck are you talking about?

The A-26 Super Tucano is in combat everyday against FARC and Narco-terrorist in Columbia.

Not exactly a easy threat environment for an aircraft to operate in.

It posses cutting edge countermeasures, sensors and weapons.

Last year it dropped a "smart bomb" that killed FARC's second in command.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.

Larse1   January 19th, 2012 - 6:33 pm

I said it was useful for some armies like those fighting against those 9000 savages and child soldiers in Columbia… It can't carry much fire power, But it can defeat a 10 year old kid with a Machete!! But what is a turbo going to do against an SA-18… It's just a military light trainer to the US. Something "cheap" the kids can fly and if they wreck it we are not out too much cash. It won't be long before we buy them from China… Good thing, because even Columbian tribesman might find a Chinese FN-6 when you forget to be very careful.

"It posses cutting edge countermeasures, sensors and weapons." – Like GPS and an MP3 player :D

Larse1   January 19th, 2012 - 6:51 pm

Thank you for explaining it far better than I could. The real advantage the Brazilian deal is the deal itself. You give them a check, they give you the planes… No other US Military contractor endless BS involved… Let alone the previous 200% cost overruns/delays… The AT-6 style plane is a commodity product. It's just COTS baby…

A very simple test for any aircraft anyone thinks is combat worthy today even against African tribesman. Fire an M2 50cal round into the side. If the bullet comes out the other side, use it for crop dusting instead…

hillranger   January 19th, 2012 - 9:15 pm

OK why does the US gov want a prop job , no way this plane can replace the A-10, these types of planes are used by the third world for putting down anti gov forces.

BIG SOROS BRAZIL INVESTOR GETS RETURNS FROM HIS MUPPET IN THE WH

We overlook Soros ties to Brazil & the Administration. That is the answer. MONEY

delchamp   January 20th, 2012 - 6:24 am

Well…like normal on this site your partly right but mostly wrong….the Buy American Act passed in 1933 by Congress and signed by President Hoover on his last full day in office (March 3, 1933) did required the United States government to prefer U.S.-made products in its purchases. However, since then ALL congresses and administrations (republicans and democrats) have watered this down. Furthermore, the DoD is authorized to develop memoranda for understandings for procurement of equipment and must report annually the amount of defense contracts awarded to foreign countries. Therefore, no LAWS were broken nor should people be placed in prison for the rest of their lives.

Before, you throw around assertions you should really read and understand what the LAW requires of our government officials.

I agree large defense contacts should stay in the US and not be farmed out to foreign corporations; but making false assertions is not good for our country nor the process.

EdTimperlake   January 22nd, 2012 - 3:51 pm

When Congressman Todd Tiahrt was in office he was proud of his action in stopping "Imminent Fury" requested by General Mattis at JFCOM and General McCrystal in Afghanstan thus delaying the introduction of SuperT into combat for two years

HBC with full knowledge of what they were doing submitted a non-production ready, developmental aircraft that continued to expend government funds during the selection process- The terms of the LAS solicitation precluded all that from day one–In other words they cheated.

They are now attempting to try the case in the court of public opinion in a very ugly way–To be fair and balanced the uncontested facts are the Super Tucano has been without a doubt validated by the world aviation market place (150 produced many in combat) , the USAF selection process , and the integerity of the AF process was validated by the GAO in their selecting the far superior aircraft.

Anything else presented by HBC to quote a famous line from the Bloody Red Baron is "rubbish."
