Capitalism is fine to a degree, but if it is allowed to grow un-checked then it becomes a much worst beast then government.
The “free market” is also the same thing, and this HAS BEEN PROVEN to need serious regulation to keep it under control.
I’m all for someone making money, and if they can great! However, when they do it at the expense of other people then that is a crime more than a “free market”. For example, the economy crash was caused by the removal of oversight and regulations of the banking industry. The Bush admin instructed it’s departments to basically not perform oversight. The reason? “the free market will take care of its self” How did that work out?
It’s funny….. When a corporation sells you something that only costs $1 to make for $100 that is called capitalism, but when a person stands on a street corner selling sports tickets that he purchased for $50 for $1000 that is called scalping and a crime.
Capitalism is only as good as how it is run. By continuing to increase the CEO’s salary while cutting the workers pay, or in some cases firing them to transfer their jobs over-seas, is criminal. Why do they need to make x3000 what their workers make? Who is actually making the money?? Would the company be there without the workers? Would the company be there without a CEO?
So if a company can maintain a “fair” compensation for employees and a reasonable difference between the workers and CEO, then the “fair market” and capitalism has worked. Otherwise, it is a failure. And in the last 20 – 30 years it has failed HORRIBLY. How many people back then had to work 2 jobs, or have both spouses work jobs, just to survive? Compare that to today…… The workers income has degraded, while the CEO’s has skyrocketed.
It’s not “socialism” for wanting a company to pay a decent pay and to ensure that not just a handful of people in the company get rich. Everyone working should share in the gain of the company, after all the workers did more to make the company then did the CEO.

There is a DIFFERENCE between “standard of living” and INCOME! Though the standard of living has increased through technology, that
does not mean that the median of income has. In fact, the average middle class to lower class income has decreased or has been stagnat. Rather than a single person in the household being able to pay for all the increase in “standard of living” this requires most Americans to work either 2 jobs, both spouses work, or both. That is not an increase, that is a decrease. An increase is being able to increase your standard of living by the same ratio that your income is. Since the standard of living is increasing, the people are trying to maintain that increase and they can’t financially.
So yes, capitalism has failed. And yes, there will always be poor people. However, when we have people who have served in the military and now 200,000 of them are living on the street because of the “standard of living” and their income cannot even come close to sustaining them…… Well…. Then capitalism has failed.
As I stated, as long as it is heavily regulated then capitalism works. Those regulations are on the companies that DIRECTLY effect the economy or peoples lives. e.g. Hospitals, Banks, Oil Companies, Drug Companies, Food Producers. These are the main sectors that REQUIRE regulation. Then with that, the “free market” can work better by ensuring that the “little guy” can in fact effect the price. Right now, it’s only the wealthy that has the say and can manipulate the “free market”.

Are you surprised, you shouldn’t be. If you listen carefully, you will note that the Democrats are not that far from
where Joel is, which is also where authoritarian governments ends up. More control by the government and the elites, less rights for the individual.
Is Joel saying anything different from what Moa, Stalin and Hitler said (in the beginning)? It all sounds really good in
the beginning, but the outcome isn’t so good. If you are willing to give your individual rights up, follow the

prepared, Obama has a couple more years left, and I am sure there will be a crisis that he will be able to use to justify

No…. I want to return to the Constitution. You know that piece of paper that the Republicans hate so much. The one that you pay no interest in except when you feel it serves you. What do you think we have now with the Corporations buying the Congress? At least what I am proposing is putting more power back into the hands of the people, rather than the corporations. I memory serves, it is the Republicans who think its a great idea to give Corporations “rights”. It is the Republicans that have put them above the people, so I am simply trying to get us back to a Republic where “we the people” run the country, not Corporations.

Of course not, but if we make it harder and make the punishment more costly (to both parties) and longer jail time, then it will be greatly reduced. Also, having publicly financed elections will solve most of the issue with them being bought. It will also ensure that they are spending 75% of their time working for the people rather than working to get money for their re-election.
So you actually chose to destroy the middle class, because the middle class has already decreased while the upper class has increased and you can choose to ignore it, but I choose not too.
