TV Cook Paula Deen Hit with Flying Ham

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Zap2it: CBS Atlanta was on hand to record Deen's act of charity, delivering more than 25,000 pounds of the swine to Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless. Deen claimed that when she was holding the ham, she was reminded of the heft of a football. Well, there's a reason why it's called the pigskin. After she had tossed a ham to her friend Eric, she had turned around just as he said "Back at ya," and lobbed it back -- into her face.

Obviously that ham was out for revenge.

God Bless You, Paula Deen and I hope you were not badly hurt! You are so generous to the poor and feed many people over the holidays. Thank you for all you do. God Bless.

Not even this will shut her gabbing mouth.

DA BEARRRS   November 24th, 2009 - 6:48 am

The way she threw that ham, I’m surprised she doesn’t get a try-out offer from the Washington Redskins.

What’s Johnny Knoxville doing standing-in a giv-away food line in the first place, is what I wanna know?
Was He just there to hit Paula in the face with a frozen Ham?

Oink   November 24th, 2009 - 9:20 am

It’s pig on pig violence.

H2K   November 24th, 2009 - 9:40 am

…and for a split second, she lost that fake accent as she shouted “W T F!!!!”
Seriously, I hope she’s doing well.

Hooter   November 24th, 2009 - 9:40 am

Well, lucky it wasn’t a canned ham….

Other   November 24th, 2009 - 10:11 am

She made sure she got more face time in front of the camera afterwards

RobbieK   November 24th, 2009 - 10:20 am

Check the thrower’s Registration card. I’m sure it reads “DEMOCRAT”.

HWP   November 24th, 2009 - 10:28 am

Well, all I can say is I’m sorry that happened to a very nice person. And thank you so much Paula for helping people who wouldn’t otherwise have food for Thanksgiving Day. Maybe they could wait onthe government food stamps.

Who cares? This is an unbelievable attempt to get news coverage so did anything else happen?

Paula Deen is a great American success story. From poverty to great wealth. I love that she didn’t open her first restaurant until her late 40’s!! She also shares her wealth and time – this event was part of her work to feed 2 million people. It shows people aren’t able to to be compassionate even when pigs fly!

jason   November 24th, 2009 - 11:33 am

They shoulda given her a free shot “back atcha”!

Makes sense to me...   November 24th, 2009 - 11:55 am

The guy was a liberal Obama supporter… I just saw that on CNN. He was outraged over the size of the ham being too small. Paula doesn’t have any right to give away small hams. This is a perfect situation where some serious redistribution of wealth needs to occur.

Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Husain Obama!!! 2012!!!!

Other   November 24th, 2009 - 2:06 pm
