Travelocity’s ‘Roaming Gnome’ Visits the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Salt Lake Magazine: Bottom line, Travelocity, a heretofore middling online travel juggernaut, expertly made social media its you-know-what garnering almost 300k followers—ab-so-lutely crushing it with this contest ...all for the price of one little trip for two.

The story goes like this an elderly couple who live in the UW district in Seattle awoke one day to find someone had stolen their garden gnome from their front yard. Sometime later (couple of months) the the elderly couple awoke to fine the garden gnome had been returned to the its place in the front yard along with an envelope with pictures of the gnome posed in various vacation locations around the country. The gnome had apparently gone along on a road trip with some of the local collage students. And had been photographed in places like San Francisco with the Golden Gate bridge in the background, in Hollywood on the sidewalk with the stars on it. Also on the beach’s, Las Vegas hardrock cafe, The Grand Canyon. Yellowstone Park and many other locations but you get the ideal. The best part about the story that I read in the Seattle Times newspaper years ago, was that the elder couple was completely dumbfounded, and then when the gnome returned home they were delighted.
