Pure Marxism had three main characteristics. First of all, there was to be no government, no central controlling body allocating resources. If something needed doing then some person or group of people would just do it for the good of all. Second there was to be no private ownership of anything. All things were to be held in common. If you needed something you would just take it.

Socialism is any form of government that takes control of various industries away from the private sector. All governments have some elements of socialism in the mix because there are just some things that the private sector cannot do.

lol, you know i used to watch SNL when it was funny, will ferrell, horatio sanz, cherri oterri, molley shannon. then tina fey came on and they tried her out, but she wasnt consistently not funny. like every time she was in a skit or delivered a line no one laughed. so they eventually just let her do the weekend update because she had a dry voice and couldnt act, she could only read. i find it hilarious how tina fey continues to make fun of sarah palin given that if it werent for sarah palin tina fey would most likely be working at jamba juice. she was kicked off of SNL, she had a tv show with terrible ratings, and no hope for a movie career. than sarah palin steps in the spot light and its as if she thinks she was always a star and people always loved her. they didnt, and they still dont. the only reason shes stayed employed is because she looked like sarah palin, and shes the most liberal person at NBC besides all of the MSNBC commentators, and alec baldwin.
