Gates refused to present a proper ID.
The Cop didn’t arrest Gates in his house, the Officer walked out of the house to validate Gates as the resident of the home (via the radio) and Gates followed him outside acting belligerently.
Gates got out of control and needs to admit it.
Had the officer turned around and left without ensuring Gates was the resident and if Gates Family was being held hostage inside, then we’d be hearing about how the cops weren’t following procedure, weren’t being thorough, etc. Boom- Lawsuit.
Gates was probably having a bad day because he came home and couldn’t get in his house. But that doesn’t give him license to treat the cop like dirt, which is what Gates did.
Gates reminds me of those Pompous College Profs who think they are better then everyone else.

Being from MASS., this saddens me greatly.
I have always championed the UNDERDOG, with the exception of those being UNDER WATER.
Long ago, I was involved in an accident. Two cars were traveling down the interstate side by side and waving at each other. They later pulled off the same exit ramp I was. One pulled off the road and the other pulled only about half way which forced me to stop.
I turned my wheels to try and go around and was smacked from behind by another car (which almost sent me down the embankment).
When I asked the people in the two cars to stay until cops arrived, (I was a military policeman and this was not my jurisdiction), the first words I heard out of one of the women’s mouth was “You doin’ this because we black!”
She didn’t care that had they too pulled off the road, I would not have had to stop and SQUEEZE around and wouldn’t have been hit.
I finally got one of the guys to understand what I was saying.
The whole point is, why does everything HAVE to be because “they are black.”
All Gates had to do to NOT MAKE IT AN ISSUE was to not argue and go get his ID like most people would have done. At that point they *MAY* have wanted to check out his house to be sure he was not under duress. NPR’s Juan Williams even says this AND HE IS BLACK (and in the video interview, he relates his OWN experience when his home alarm went off in the early morning hours and police responded).
Williams also feels that Obama ‘Has Gone Way, Way Too Far’ in the Gates arrest.
You just don’t start off your comments with police in a confrontational manner. When has that ever ended in a good way regardless of race??
And if Gates *IS* Obama’s buddy, chances are that he felt more empowered to spout his racial crap and try to place some out of line race card instead of just letting the office do his job.

As a white person and an American I have the right to comment on anything I damn well please, it’s called freedom of speech. Coincidentally, I just watched a movie last week called “Einstein’s Big Idea” in which Gates was the narrator explaining the physics of E=mc2 This guy is not a fool or a guy put in his position by politics. Requirements for becoming a prestigious liberal professor. Go to school for an unusually long amount of time without really learning much. Be able to speak fluent PC. Be able to look past the truth and say something that sounds like an explanation (preferably not the truth). You get high bonus points if you are a minority. You must hate capitalism, conservatism and Christian and Jewish religions. Non liberals need not apply. BTW, if you can say “Does Your Mama Know Who You Are Dealing With” then you get extra credit.

During the video, I kept looking on the screen to see if the name of the anchor was displayed anywhere. I didn’t see it, and therefore, have no idea who he is. However, when I find out, I will add his name, along with that of Obama and Gates, to the list of those who are known to be racist against white people.
Some of the previous comments make reference to the fact that Obama’s mother was white, therefore, they conclude that he cannot be racist against white people. Why then, during the campaign, did Obama refer to his grandmother as “a typical white person?” His racism was on full display at that time. Can you imagine a white person using similar verbiage and saying “a typical black person?” The news media would crucify them.
See how hostile the black (older) CNN reporter on the leftside of the screen, I don’t see his name, is? It would be very difficult to have a discussion with him, because he will not listen, heh as his bias which comes through, to me, on air. I am black, neither of these so-called reporters are reporting, they are making commentary. One of them is getting ready to relate a PERSONAL event of his encounter with the police. This is suppose to be a NEWS report, not a antedotal chat over cocktails at a BBQ. I don’t care to hear what happened to Q-ball or Cutie-Tony when they met a cop 10 years ago when they were driving drunk or talking loud in a theater. No wonder CNN is falling in ratings.

If it weren’t for black news anchors like this, we would have no racism in this country. He and those like him (Jesse, Al, Louis, et al) are the culprits in keeping this 150 year old wound open and raw.

All we are prepared to say today in reference to the Henry Gates situation is this: The man is LUCKY he was black, because if he was white, a taser would have been involved in the conversation at the first sign of talking back. Since we don’t have to worry about white folks whining about us being racist or profiling, we can just pull them over and zap them with a taser if they get too uppity. Minorities have it good, and they don’t even realize it. Course, if we want everyone to be all equal, we would be more than happy to start tasing blacks, latinos, indians, and anyone else we can get our hands on.

It seems that now after these two mediocre newsmen, Obama and after Gates made their comments, noen of them want to talk about the content of what happened they just want to “ratchet down the rhetoric” – that was started by Gates and perpetuated by Obama. Libs like to make accusations and never be questioned. Now, they are being questioned and the facts are coming out – those facts do not favor Gates and nor by proxy, Obama. So, now they want it all to go away. If the facts were even slightly in their favor they’d still be whining. They want transparency – RELEASE THE TAPES!
