Third-Grade Energy Czar Keeps Tabs at CT Elementary School

NBC Connecticut: At Wolcott Elementary in West Hartford, less is more. That mentality that won them the district's Conservation Challenge. Every school in the district competed for the top spot by trying to conserve as much energy as possible during the month of November. At Wolcott, the man in charge, the Energy Czar, is third grader Matt Cariseo. He conducted audits of the school, looking for any place there was waste.

Hey, who shut off my iron lung?

So… It took a 3rd grader to actually teach supposedly adult, governmental idiots to turn out the lights when nobody is using them. Of course, when government lackeys are spending other peoples’ money, it’s easy to ignore the cost.

‘Bama should get this guy in his collection of czars.
I notice he didn’t turn off the lights in the other room in the background.

Junior Commie. Maybe he will call the Dept. of Energy on his parents for leaving on the porch light.

public school is a waste of energy not to mention a waste of taxes and a waste of time… vouchers are much more efficient

I’ll bet anything there will be a negative correlation between energy use and sexual deviance at that public school. As the number of lights being used decreases, the number of kids caught having oral sex will increase. The same thing happens with light use and crime rates in any metropolitan area.

That kid reminds me of the children acting as thought police in George Orwell’s 1984.

It takes a 3rd grader to teach the government how to cut waste. Time to elect them to congress and put them in charge of medicare.

I don’t understand the hate on the kid. He might be a bit eccentric, but at least he is trying to do something he thinks is a good idea. I know our school district leaves all the hall lights on 24 hours a day. Its like a Christmas tree all year long, and is a complete waste.

AlBama   December 7th, 2009 - 9:07 am

If he’s so good a finding waste, the O should ask him to check the health care bill.

Onward Christian Soldiers!

I like the principal, “theres no end to the ways we could use $150,000″ … how about giving it back to taxpayers?
