Wha-Wha-Whaaat!?!

Ashen   January 13th, 2010 - 2:35 pm

What a scumbag. Did he call for any releif efforts or is this the only quote you have?

bodhi   January 13th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

hmmmm, sounds like mr. robertson is very, very superstitious.
instead of pointing the finger at the Haitians, mr. robertson should face the truth and ask the question:
why would his loving god allow this much suffering and carnage?

Roy   January 13th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

I agree. We must pray for Haiti. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. The Bible says to “Turn from your wicked ways so I can heal your land”

Justin   January 13th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

What a jackass.

Joe   January 13th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

This guy still talks with God??? He’s a nut case.

TYPGWB   January 13th, 2010 - 2:36 pm

Where was this NATIONAL pact that was made?

Pat needs to give actual examples.

This type of talk means nothing without backing it up

ian   January 13th, 2010 - 2:37 pm

Hey pat — just die already, would ya? Haiti got hit by an earthquake. have some compassion, ya dick.

Barry   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

Honestly whats wrong with him?

TYPGWB   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

CLICK the TYPGWB link above

JCindiana   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

What an idiot. I can’t believe people still listen to this guy.

bodhi   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

hmmmm, sounds like mr. robertson is very, very superstitious.
instead of pointing the finger at the Haitians, mr. robertson should face the truth and ask the question:
why would his loving god allow this much suffering and carnage?

for example one reason might be:
he is hallucinating and his tooth fairy doesn’t exist…

Mark   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

Well an even longer time ago, another Pact so to speak was made and the entire planet was cursed. Come on, let’s focus on charity instead of pouring fuel on the fire.

Steven   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

Why Pat? It’s crap like this that makes the right look stupid.

Brad Ryden   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

Pat Robertson, get off the bus and go away. There are real Christians who want and can help. How in God’s name could you have forgotten the grace of God and what the Kingdom of God is all about. This is not a time for words. I would suggest you get out of you multimillion dollar house and office and go down and get dirty helping for a week. But I don’t think you are either smart enough or courageous enough. BNR

James   January 13th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

WTF, Pat? “True story.” True story? I just have to shake my head at this one…

On a side note, countdown to overpaid Hollywood-type asking people with much less money than them to donate in 3…2….1…

Eddie   January 13th, 2010 - 2:39 pm

This wacko is one of the most irresponsible “TV Religion” hawkers who ever lived. Shut up Pat. Nobody is listening!

Jorge   January 13th, 2010 - 2:39 pm

I’ve been to Haiti several times in recent years. Pat hit the nail on the head. The Haitians that have turned to Christ will tell you so. Those of you who are not “born again” from above as Jesus said, can not understand this. The devil is real and he hates God’s most precious creation…humanity! And his assault is vicious and relentless. I pray that revival will be birthed from this is the hearts of the Haitians and believers around the world. Salvation first…life is temporal, all die, this too shall pass. But the Word of God remains forever.

MARK   January 13th, 2010 - 2:39 pm

THIS IS A GREAT EXAGGERATION. I HAVE KNOWN HAITIANS WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SATANISM. THEY LIVE IN A DANGEROUS PLACE, ON A FAULT LINE, IN FLOOD AND HURRICANE PRONE AREAS. WE HAVE THE SAME THING IN THE USA.

Brian Gamble   January 13th, 2010 - 2:40 pm

Saying Haiti was hit with an earthquake because they are cursed is a bit much there Pat. Nothing could be more untruthful and annoying than to speculate that weather or earthly phenomenon is controlled by God. When a tornado kills dozens in a Southern Baptist town in the south, I don’t say God’s wrath was behind this. When Jesus demanded the storm calm, did He go against God since God supposedly is behind weather? I think not and will pray for the Christians of Haiti as well as those who have not accepted Christ.

TYPGWB   January 13th, 2010 - 2:40 pm

They do however practice VOODOO!!!
Not a cool think since that involved human sacrificing!

Haitian Vodou or Vaudou (French pronunciation: [vodu], Anglicised as Voodoo) is a syncretic[1] religion originating from the Caribbean country of Haiti,

Google it!

Ian   January 13th, 2010 - 2:40 pm

Pat Robertson swore a pact to the crazy.

globalwarmer   January 13th, 2010 - 2:40 pm

Truth is always stranger than fiction. And so Mr. Robertson will be attacked by the Godless left for pointing out the fact.

Kev   January 13th, 2010 - 2:41 pm

Are fricken kidding me? Deal with the Devil to be rid of the French? All you need to do is say, “BOO” and French go running. Has Pat heard the term Plate Tectonics? I liken it to standing in the street. If you stand there long enough, your going to get hit.

George Boosh   January 13th, 2010 - 2:41 pm

It’s ignorant and delusional statements like this that make Pat Robertson a laughing stock for much of the US. It’s no secret this guy is a for-profit holy roller, and a fing ahole. What a jerk. Moron cites Haitians made a pact with the devil. The only other person who gets laughed at more is Sarah the idiot Palin.

Dan Adams   January 13th, 2010 - 2:42 pm

One word describes you Pat: Cuckoo!

Jason   January 13th, 2010 - 2:42 pm

This guy is nuts!

RobininSC   January 13th, 2010 - 2:42 pm

C’mon lefties, disprove that!

Steve   January 13th, 2010 - 2:42 pm

What a moron!

Joe Yancho   January 13th, 2010 - 2:42 pm

Silly old fool, moron

John   January 13th, 2010 - 2:43 pm

I went to Haitit on a short term mission trip in the mid-1980’s. When you observe at the people, talk to them, view the decimation (by the locals) of the countryside, etc., I have no doubt, that much of the nation’s woes are tied to the pacts entered into by Haiti’s past leaders.

DeFace   January 13th, 2010 - 2:43 pm

Typical Republican response. And they wonder why many Americans fear their part in the power structure. These prudish Republican bible thumpers are relics of Jim Crow.

Dave   January 13th, 2010 - 2:43 pm

It is horrifying that in this era of men on the moon, laserbeams, flying aircraft and advanced medicines that there are still people that are so stupid and so superstitious that they would actually believe the words that these religious zealots utter.
We haven’t come very far at all,in fact,if it were still allowed, these religious creeps would still burn alive those that disagree with them and their doctrines.

anon   January 13th, 2010 - 2:43 pm

So the babies born last week made a pact with the devil hundreds of years ago?

Jack Carter   January 13th, 2010 - 2:43 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, Christian love and compassion as interpreted by Pat Robertson.

Putz.

RBH   January 13th, 2010 - 2:44 pm

Pat,
In Jesus Name, please be quiet.

Vita   January 13th, 2010 - 2:44 pm

This is the kind of crap that gives Evangelical Christians a bad name. Stop with the “God is punishing you” crap and just get in and help!

Frad-a-Stat   January 13th, 2010 - 2:44 pm

It’s as good an explanation as any, Pat. Something is definitely frakked-up on the LEFT side of the island…left? hmmm..

Frad

Will Ryan   January 13th, 2010 - 2:45 pm

Pat Robertson: one of Satan’s ‘useful idiots’

Steve S.   January 13th, 2010 - 2:45 pm

Pat Robertson needs to get off the air waves. He makes Christianity look foolish too often.

sean   January 13th, 2010 - 2:45 pm

Well if Satan is real there is a good chance it’s Pat Robertson so I guess he would know if they made a deal with the devil.

“True story”, what an asshole.

Nathan   January 13th, 2010 - 2:46 pm

This is just disgusting. So much for compassionate christianity.

ieatcatlitter   January 13th, 2010 - 2:46 pm

pat robertson is an evil bigot and deserves to be tortured and then be dismembered by a wild pack of dogs.
you sir, do not represent the Christian religion or the teachings of Jesus.

RM   January 13th, 2010 - 2:47 pm

What an embarrassment.

Pat This!   January 13th, 2010 - 2:47 pm

SHUT UP YOU IDIOT!

Wanda Jones   January 13th, 2010 - 2:48 pm

Pat Robertson is such a fool. It takes a so called religious punk to come up with something as stupid as that. Pat Robertson needs either crawl back under the rock he came from or just do the world a favor and die a go straight to HELL where he belongs.

Chris   January 13th, 2010 - 2:48 pm

what an idiot. first of all, the Haitians got their independence during Napoleon I’s reign, some 60 years before Napoleon III. second of all, how does Mr. Robertson know what the devil said or did not say? third of all, where in the New Testament do we see God dealing with nations as nations?

do the world a favor, Pat, and retire.

KoKoMo   January 13th, 2010 - 2:48 pm

He may be right.

Ryan   January 13th, 2010 - 2:48 pm

I’m a Christian, but I just wish Pat would shut his trap. Every time a natural disaster rolls around he comes out of the woodwork and blames it on divine retribution. I’m unfamiliar with the event that he referred to, but I find it hard to imagine that the entire nation, each individual citizen, came together under French oppression and swore allegiance to the devil. Maybe a room full of freedom fighters sure… but the whole country? Not likely. In which case this premise that the countries woes are payback from God is just ridiculous and makes Christians look mentally retarded and incapable of critical thinking.

Right   January 13th, 2010 - 2:48 pm

Pat Roberston is a racist ignorant jackass. These comments are ridiculous and shameful.

Brian   January 13th, 2010 - 2:49 pm

First of all, how do you even contact the devil to make a pact? Does he have an email address or a website? Second of all, what kind of crummy pact is this if Haiti had to throw the French out? They make a pact to get rid of the French and then THEY are the ones throwing the French out? What did the devil bring to the table? Couldn’t they have done this without the devil?

Teddy's SEARCH+RESCUE   January 13th, 2010 - 2:49 pm

OUR FOUNDER would be distressed to hear this comment. He cared deeply about those in dire need of life-saving assistance – http://www.FATBOY.cc

WarEagle   January 13th, 2010 - 2:49 pm

I am a very conservative Evangelical Christian and I sure wish Pat would shut up.

jac holtzman   January 13th, 2010 - 2:50 pm

Sounds like a decent bargain to me. Better to reign in hell than serve the French.

Fred   January 13th, 2010 - 2:50 pm

what a dope

John Doom   January 13th, 2010 - 2:51 pm

Pat Robertson what a whack job!

Biggibby   January 13th, 2010 - 2:51 pm

Sure he’s a nut, but he’s just running with old Haitian folk lore. Here’s the link

http://www.blackandchristian.com/articles/academy/gelin-10-05.shtml

Magda   January 13th, 2010 - 2:52 pm

Haiti and its people need to be surrounded and enfolded in Peaceful and Loving thoughts. I’m utterly disappointed in Pat Roberton’s choice of words in a time like this. Diminishes his credibility when a “man of God” chooses negative words instead of support and love in this horrible tragedy. What people need now is to cover their basic needs of shelter, food, and water. Not pontification from an office with air condition. Truly REVOLTING words.

Dear Ian   January 13th, 2010 - 2:52 pm

ian – i guess you didn’t notice he’s organizing a relief effort. And to say what he is saying isn’t placing blame on the people that are there now. It’s just telling the story of what happened. Scheez.

OBAMANATION at NOTRE DAME   January 13th, 2010 - 2:52 pm

The Devil has infiltrated NOTRE DAME too – http://www.FreeTheND88.org

gardenbuzzy   January 13th, 2010 - 2:53 pm

Pat, please just shut up and go away!! You make the rest of us Christians look bad. We don’t share your views and you do not speak for us.

Jd   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

Pat Robertson should shut his mouth he has no right to talk in this situation considering the fact that he’s a war criminal based on his actions in Liberia. there’s no curse in this situation what it boils down to is corrupt governments have beaten and kept down the people and that’s why Haiti is suffering right now.

Will Robinson   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

See … see! You GO Patty! Look what happened to Michael Jackson when he didn’t repent either!

Matthew   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

All ghost stories are bs. Religious people are just those who have been either 1) born into it, so they know no better, or 2) cowards who need a place to hide from life.

Gerald R.   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

Pat Robertson is a lunatic. He’s just one of many reasons why I swore of religion some years back. Robertson belongs in the middle ages where everything bad that happened was blamed on curses and Satan. If it’s bad it comes from Satan if it’s good it comes from God. That’s toally medival thinking. Did it ever occur to Robertson that the reason why Haiti is so bad off and the Dominican Republic is prosperous is because of the types of governments they have? And I guess the quake fault line was just put there by God billions of years ago by God because of this curse. With Robertson and his ilk, reason and logic are done away with.

Breasley   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

One word Voodoo!
Case closed.

Jerry   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

Haiti is cursed. The Black people who were brought out of Africa that became Christian and who accepted the rule of god’s people have become the wealthiest blacks in the world. Those who embraced Satanism, Witchcraft and Voodoo have rejected the teachings of the White race and our god, have been cursed in accordance with the Word of God (the New Testament of the Bible).

God is cursing America as we continue to embrace or celebrate feminism, abortion, homosexual lifestyles, mis-cegenation, and other un-godly things which have always destroyed nations.

Cowardly President   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

Just listen to the hypocrisy on here.

Ryan J. R. Crowe   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

What a cold-hearted man.

DruggyBear   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

all religious people are idiots, robertson is just crazier than most

matinva   January 13th, 2010 - 2:54 pm

I am a Christian and am frankly embarrassed almost every time this guy opens his mouth. He said the same thing about the tsunami in SE Asia in ‘04. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Jesus would never have uttered such stupidity. He would have been too busy trying to dig people out of the rubble and administer first aid. “Do unto others….” You know the rest.

breasley   January 13th, 2010 - 2:55 pm

The Pope smokes dope!

Vo Reason   January 13th, 2010 - 2:55 pm

It sounds like Robertson is poking the same voodoo dolls as the Haitians. What’s the difference between a Muslim extremism and Pat Robertson? The extremists at least don’t ask god to destroy the things they hate.

DPJ   January 13th, 2010 - 2:55 pm

As a Christian, I’m ashamed at the so called “Reverend” Pat Robertson. He does not speak for even the majority of Christians or religious people. He only speaks for nut jobs like himself.

speedy   January 13th, 2010 - 2:55 pm

i as a christian must say pat robertson is a a$$ hole.

Dieter Hohenhof   January 13th, 2010 - 2:56 pm

What a vile remark by an ignorant man. Haiti’s poverty is due to its left wing policies, refusal to produce scientists and engineers, and the indolence of the people… the “devil” is irrelevant to Haiti’s poverty.

Killgore Trout   January 13th, 2010 - 2:56 pm

Pat Robertson is part of the bad craziness currently infesting the religious right. What pat really means is that “God” hates the Black Man

dbski4it   January 13th, 2010 - 2:56 pm

Now I know why we got stuck with Obama as President. We made a pact with the devil.

Michael   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

“bodhi January 13th, 2010 – 2:38 pm
hmmmm, sounds like mr. robertson is very, very superstitious.
instead of pointing the finger at the Haitians, mr. robertson should face the truth and ask the question:
why would his loving god allow this much suffering and carnage?

for example one reason might be:
he is hallucinating and his tooth fairy doesn’t exist…”

and “bodhi” you should consult your God (Obama?) as well.
Didn’t anyone notice PR going over the deep end? It
happened when he decided (so-called) Global Warming was real.

HANOI JOHN KERRY   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

The REAL DEVIL is the GOP SENATE CANDIDATE, Scott Brown! I will do a http://www.LIVESHOT.cc on CNN today.

Jason   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

Hahaha. This guy is as ignorant as he is stupid. If being a moron was a crime he would be in jail. He makes all christians and conservatives look like lunatics. I really think someone should force him into a retirement home or just retirement.

breasley   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

God’s wrath is nothing to mess with.
Unfortunatley, there are many innocent people.
Truly sad.

Scott N TX   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

While Pat Roibertson is a foolish man, I am amazed by all the utter hatred on display here. people are so damn vicious, and hate filled.

plaasjaapie   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

Sounds like the old faker has finally gone senile.

Carl B   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

So… some folks back during the Napoleonic period supposedly made a pact with a devil, and Robertson’s loving and forgiving god kills thousands of people two centuries later who didn’t do it? Nice sense of justice and timing his god has. This freak makes Christianity about as appealing as Abdulmutallab does Islam.

babijc   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

It is a matter of well-documented historical fact that the nation of Haiti was dedicated to Satan 200 years ago. On August 14, 1791, a group of houngans (voodoo priests), led by a former slave houngan named Boukman, made a pact with the Devil at a place called Bois-Caiman. All present vowed to exterminate all of the white Frenchmen on the island. They sacrificed a black pig in a voodoo ritual at which hundreds of slaves drank the pig’s blood. In this ritual, Boukman asked Satan for his help in liberating Haiti from the French. In exchange, the voodoo priests offered to give the country to Satan for 200 years and swore to serve him. On January 1, 1804, the nation of Haiti was born and thus began a new demonic tyranny.

tiktokklok   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

Robertson is clearly insane. Why is he allowed to spew his nonsense on television? He belongs in an asylum for the criminally insane.

Maxwell   January 13th, 2010 - 2:57 pm

It’s a pity that there isn’t a hell for Mr. Robertson to go to.

Bekah Buttons   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

pat robertson (doesn’t’ deserve the dignity of having his name capitalized) has never heard of Jesus…

Magda   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

DeFace January 13th, 2010 – 2:43 pm
Typical Republican response.

Mr. DeFace… you and Pat Robertson are on the same side of stupidity. Don’t be so quick to judge him. You are just as insane as he is when making those unfounded comments.
*sigh* Boy, and they [people like PRobertson and DeFace) walk among us.

William Brockman   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

Pat Roberton has a love affair with himself and his self importance. All the squirrels are not just in the woods.

Shepherd Lover   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

If every good and perfect thing comes from our Creator (GOD), then where does all the disaster, death, and suffering come from?

Think about it…

wadupshawty   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

wanda, you have major issues and I assume a unhappy liberal soul… just because you are so worthless and have no faith in yourself or anything else does not mean someone who is superstitious and is talking about the bible does not mean that he is stupid… the only stupid person is you and your communist friends. I am Russian, and We have our own beliefs so I understand that what he is saying is not what the media is explaining in full…. so libatard shut your mouth and go back under your rock, you stupid hoodrat… you are a sad, sad person to hate on someone who actually has faith and probably tries to help your fat welfare ass..

theheartrules   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

How sad. Pat was taken in by the god, mammon, long ago. Christ told his disciples when they asked him about when he was coming back: ‘If you want to find me look in the most wretched, I’ll be there.” We’ll then, he must be in Haiti right now.
Let’s cut the crap and go help those people and show the world that America is still America and can put aside it’s internal snarky strife and join together to do something right.

Court   January 13th, 2010 - 2:58 pm

Obviously Pat’s right and the New Testament got it wrong in Matthew 5:45

King James Bible
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

This verse only applies to sunshine and rain but God uses earthquakes to punish people.

KoKoMo   January 13th, 2010 - 2:59 pm

Problem is Mr. Robinson that most people think they are born experts on religion when most have not studied scripture for any real length of time and the rest have to try and sift through a matrix of bad theology, and error to find the truth. Fact is, God doesn’t want everybody and everybody doesn’t want God. Jesus is coming soon and he’s not ‘playing church’. May the LORD God have mercy on us all!

Grolsch   January 13th, 2010 - 2:59 pm

Don’t lump Christians in with Pat Robertson. Robertson is evil.

Good Lt.   January 13th, 2010 - 2:59 pm

What a wanker.

Sounds like Fred Phelps from the Westboro Baptist Church.

This earthquake was the “Hatian’s fault.” Somehow. Disgusting.

Zdecent   January 13th, 2010 - 2:59 pm

Wow… That is one of the stupidest, most disprespectful ways I’ve heard anyone talk about this whole situation.

This horrible natural disaster has occured and yet some guy has the audacity to find a way to blame the population of Haiti for this, as if they brought it upon themselves? How ridiculous and utterly ignorant; so what of the people of Thailand in 2004? Did they make a pact with the Devil too? or were all the inhabitants just pure-bred sinners?

The people of New Orleans perhaps? They’re all satan worshipers for sure…

Why must the peaceful, moral-inducing ideas behind all religions be attributed to such violence and horror when people need a reason to justify their own feelings. Just cause the guy doesn’t want to give up his money to the disaster fund, or feel pity for them, he finds a way to make it “All Their Own Fault”

Sickening.

Mark Jones   January 13th, 2010 - 2:59 pm

I’M NOT SAYING ROBERTSON IS RIGHT, so you don’t have to attack this. I also agree that we need to be charitable.

Why is Haiti such a sh–hole and the Dominican Republic relatively comfortable? What are the culteral, political, or other differences that have created such a disparity? I’m curious as to people’s thoughts on this.
