A broken campaign promise and a lie are two different things. A campaign promise is something that you aspire to do in the future. A lie is an untrue statement of fact.
Second, it is ONE broken promise not 8 or whatever. It’s the same campaign promise no mater how much it was repeated.
Third, Obama was stupidly naive to think that negotiations like this would be effective in public. So it was never even possible.
Fourth, the negotiations he was talking about were the ones that had happened at the beginning of this process, not at the end. Rememeber, the ones where he took a realistic course and made deals to bring the drug and insurance companies on board to give comprehensive reform a chance for passage.
Fifth, there are no actual secrets here. This is legislation. The two bills going to conference are in the congressional record, and available for you to read. The final bill will be available to read before passage.

This is exactly why I will not waste my time listening to Obama, or any other politician. The time for talk is long over. This administration has absolutely no idea the storm that is coming their way. I was born in this great country 63 years ago. I have always been proud of being an American. But now, in the twilight of my life I must bare witness to the utter distruction of our freedoms, our history, our government, our Democracy, our Faiths, everything I, and most other Americans have held dear for centuries. President Obama and his cohorts on the Hill, are tearing our country apart.

When President Obama was running for office, and not knowing anything about him, I got a copy of his 510 campaign promises, all 72 pages of them, more than twice as many promises than any other candidate in history. Clearly he has forgotten them. I also got a copy of his voting record while in the Senate. At least 70% said NV (not voting) which made it impossible to tell what he stood for, but I suppose that was why he voted that way. Then there is the letter dated Jan.9, 2009 addressed to then President Elect Barack Obama from 328 notable economists from Universities around the country. Just one paragraph and I will quote just the last 3 sentences : “it is a triumph of hope over experience to believe that more government spending will help the U.S. today. To improve the economy, policy makers should focus on reforms that remove impediments to work, saving, investment and production. Lower tax rates and a reduction in the burden of government are the best ways of using fiscal policy to boost growth.” I guess our President, if he read the letter at all, through it in the trash.

Never forget that the Democraps are the ones stifling free and open debate. The Democraps are the ones seeking a statist, socialist, enforced welfare state. Each time conservatives bring an alternative to the table, they get shouted down. Failing that, the Democraps lock them out. The point that shouldn’t be overlooked here is the numerous times O’Bama earnestly promised transparency on this huge issue, yet when it comes time to follow through, he falls way short. The most likely reason is because the more people know about this horrible bill and what it really means to them, the less they like it. Approval numbers were plumetting by the day so they rushed it through and now the Dems are relying on smoke and mirrors to perpetrate this as something good for the citizens of the country rather than the politicians. People have a right to be upset.

When something so big, that effects so many people in such a huge way is debated and passed, it should include members of both parties. Not a single Republican voted for this and their proposals and input were ignored and that will make for a horrible bill. That is politics, yes but the worst kind of leadership. Comparisons of O’Bama to Stalin and Hitler sound like hyperbole but if you examine their methods closely, you will find that the comparisons aren’t too far off.

The Democrats are now in a position of being forced into opening up the discussions and possibly losing the measure or keeping them closed and ramming it through anyway.

This isn’t what people voted for and it’s not what this country’s government is supposed to be about.

I second the comments by Tom H. As someone who rose from being on welfare as a child to an educated, well-compensated (six figures) adult, I know that anyone not totally disabled can achieve whatever they put their mind to do. And no…laziness does not qualify as totally disabled.

Adam, got a 139 on the three tests I took, though I know a 145 that’s not doing the country or the gene pool
any good. I wouldn’t suggest that as a litmus test.
