This addresses one problem in Government. But, we need to fix the process of the election itself. Corruption in politics starts at the baseline local level and extends throughout. “Politicking” or promoting and advertising yourself to get elected already mitigates the idea of a true public servant. People must be chosen on merit, abilities, track record and character alone and voted for by secret ballot. Absolutely secret. This demands that we get to know each other in much more depth. That is a time consuming item and a fairly long process. There is one model of governance that works this way. The Baha’i Faith has a prohibition from participating in politics and registering with a political party but they elect their governing bodies exactly the same way from local to national to global bodies and have been doing so for years. Just a suggestion as a sample of a process that works. It should work very well in the secular world. We have information at the tips of our fingers and we can make up our minds and vote without hype, advertising, peer pressure or monetary reward. Take a look.

I looked at the GOOOH web site. I view this as a well-intention, but “pie in the sky” idea that is high on hope and low on practicality and reality. And which ignores the fact “we the people” already have a vehicle for achieving our goal of electing better people – that vehicle is called good-old-fashioned participation in the real ball game of politics – party politics – WITHIN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WHICH HAD HALF OF ITS PRECINCT COMMITTEEMAN SLOTS VACANT ON ELECTION DAY, 2008!

WE ARE IN THE FIX WE ARE IN BECAUSE “WE THE PEOPLE” HAVE BEEN TOO DARN LAZY AND APATHETIC AND UNKNOWLEDGEABLE TO ENGAGE IN PARTY POLITICS. So, we get the RINOs that the Republican Party RINOs foist on us. Instead, if we actually got engaged in the Republican Party as precinct committeemen we could CHANGE IT FROM WITHIN – ONLY precinct committeemen get to vote for the party leadership. Let me say that again: ONLY PRECINCT COMMITTEEMEN get to VOTE FOR THE PARTY LEADERSHIP.

It starts out by saying, “Politicians have taken control of our government . . . .” Guess what? “We the People” ELECTED them. Guess what, as already mentioned, on Election Day, 2008, HALF the precinct committeemen slots in the Republican Party were VACANT! “We the People, the APATHETIC, LAZY people, have only ourselves to blame – we ELECTED THE POLITICIANS.

Under “Problem Statement,” it says, “90% of us disapprove of the job Congress is doing . . . “ Even if that was true (and it’s not – a lot of progressives LOVE what Congress is doing!), only about 65 per cent of eligible voters actually voted in the 2008 elections.

Then it says incumbents get re-elected “Because the process for selecting our representatives is broken.” WRONG. The PROCESS IS NOT BROKEN. The problem is that “We the People” DON’T USE THE PROCESS WE ALREADY HAVE. The fact that HALF the precinct committeemen slots in the Republican Party were vacant on Election Day, 2008 PROVES THIS. The fact that only about 65 per cent of eligible voters voted in the 2008 general elections PROVES THIS. The fact that only about 15-20 per cent of Arizona Republicans bothered to vote in some of the 2008 primary elections PROVES THIS.

Forget this convoluted, complicated, doomed-to-fail GOOOH non-strategy that is based on the faulty premise that our “system” is “broken.” It’s not – we haven’t been USING THE SYSTEM WE ALREADY HAVE that has served us relatively well for our entire history. The system is not “working” because we conservatives haven’t been using it.

YOU have limited time and resources. We can’t afford to try to reinvent the wheel that is sitting in front of us but we haven’t been using. USE THE EXISTING SYSTEM. PARTY POLITICS. WITHIN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS THERE FOR THE TAKING BY CONSERVATIVES IF WE’D JUST UNITE WITHIN IT!!!!!!!!

Ask yourself these questions: When was the last time you were a precinct committeeman? Ever? Do you even know what a PC is?

What are the names of your county board members? Ever been to a board meeting?

What are the names of your two state legislators and state senator? Ever call them? Even once?

When was the last time you were to a Republican Party meeting? Ever?

Folks, this is the problem. Get your behind to the next GOP local meeting and get involved in party politics.

People may not want to hear this, and in my heart I hope I’m wrong but I don’t believe we will recovery as a nation. This administration has really accelerated the collapse of our free enterprise system. I believe that the prophecy of 2012 will a global monetary earthquake what will change commerce around the world. There WILL be a global monetary system as this administration is doing everything in its power to bring this into existents. We may change Congress but will will still have the “Executive Order Pen” of President Obey-Me!

You can do all the research you want……but where I live the news media will and does control what you are reading and watching. Both newspaper and television stations are staunch Democratic supporters. They pimp for the politician they support…..and if the report on the Republican side at all it is the last article between a half page add and the classified ads. People can’t vote on someone they don’t have knowledge of……unless they just vote straight ticket and hope.

We need ONE NATIONAL TELEVISION STATION for nothing but watching, congress in session, watching political debates, watching interviews with candidates,
and to view issues between the White House and Congress… with, and for, the general public.

Do away with campaign funding….use it to provide air time to “THE NATIONAL TELEVISION STATION” which broadcasts political UNBIASED NEWS from both and independent parties of the nation. This would eliminate bias, some corruption, and complete control of the media which has too much control as to whether to inform…or NOT.

If Goooh is for this, as is, the TEA PARTY……then GREAT!!!!! GO FOR IT!!!!!

@Cold Warrior — Your “solution/process” is obviously not working. If it was, we would not have the mess in DC that we have now. No matter which party is in charge, corruption is a problem. Citizen Representatives were the original intent of the US House and it’s time to get the power back to where it belonged all along, with the people.
