These protests are not riots. These students are getting royally screwed. And they’re angry.
They should occupy the college admin buildings until their concerns are addressed.
So, I’m looking at the kids in these videos and I can’t quite decide- is that
hope, or change I see in their faces? Personally, I hope these young
Californians begin to understand that liberal votes have ramifications. I
heavily blame California for the screwing the rest of the country is about to
take- based on California holding 10% of the House of Reps. seats. Understand
children- you vote for reps who create entitlement programs and you are going
to pay.
Starting to see the connection now?
Matt

When the money runs out (and it always does), the beneficiary class gets to play musical chairs with the other beneficiaries, all the way down. With the remaining money pot, they and their professors don’t get so much education money, so a better-organized public union member gets to keep his or her full benefits package. That’s what is going on.
Notice the students were protesting at the unversity, not the legislature, a sad commentary on the state of our education system. Dumshits.
Why should the students have to pay for the sins of an incompetent Republican Governor.
Oh the poor dear folks. Demographic and age stats show that a lot of them are Obama supporters. Call this their first adventure into what we taxpayers feel when we hear and see rising taxes.
Welcome to life.
Lets get this right: the state funding to the UCs is being cut because the state doesn’t have the funds. The state doesn’t have the funds because the state tax revenue is down. The state tax revenue is down because the state is losing businesses. The businesses are leaving the state because they are being taxed and can no longer be competitive in the marketplace. With the businesses leaving the state, so are the jobs which further lowers the state tax base. The state’s tax/spend ideology from the left-controlled legislature (for the past 20 yrs) is killing Cali.
The kids are protesting the rate hikes. They have a right to…at least for now. But, here is the irony. These hope ‘n change generation of students voted for the first time last year. Who did they vote for? They overwhelmingly voted for the left-based tax/spend ideological candidate.
Talk about the left eating its own……….
They had better get used to it..This is going to be their future..full of huge tax hikes and outrageous inflation.
This is what this next generation will have to contend with.
This is what Liberalism does to America.
The sooner they realize that – the better their future will be.
First question is did the staff and faculty get a raise, then how much and finally why.
To increassse costs, taxes, fees, penalties in a recession is counter productive. Take it from somwone who lived through the great depression.
Matt, I believe you are exactly right. Boxer, Waters and Pelosi are some fairly infamous liberal, spend amuk Californians. The sub primer mortgage industry largely hatched in Calabasas and Irvine. Exotic mortgage products were created as a response to the common man not being able to afford to exhorbitantly priced California dwelling. Many of the investors that started the churn n burn thing in places like Vegas and Phoenix transferred their interest to these locations as their own homestate began to be priced in the stratosphere.
Many trends, both good and bad, begin in California, and that is the way it’s been for decades. Could this civil unrest be the next trend? I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.
I too hope that the students see the correlation between the entitlements, irresponsible spending, and their votes, but I wish it were simply one side of the aisle that caused the problem.
Corruption and run away spending is not purely a democrat sin, although they do tend to perfect the art with a special panache. Both parties are guilty and both parties are very well entrenched in this corrupt culture we call public spending/finance.
Here’s a novel thought for UC, – Cut spending and clean up your budget first. Do this properly, and you may not even need this tuition hike. Don’t come to your financially hurting student body and stick your hands deeper into their pockets until you can truly say and truly illustrate your own due diligence in fiscal responsibility.
This demand needs to be made of all public entities. All state and local governments should make an honest, earnest effort and clearing out the corruption prior to asking for tax increases. If they don’t, then Katy, bar the door. We the People will not put up with their irresponsibility, theivery, and wasteful arrogance any longer. Clean yourselves up, or we’ll do it for you!
These kids should find out what their professors are getting paid, that will really make them mad.
WOW! They cheer on liberalism. They vote for the community organizer who promises them a FREE RIDE. Now they’re mad that OTHER PEOPLE’s MONEY has run out and THEY have to ante up?
Will these children EVER grow up.

The Anti Liberal Zone
I’ve got the solution for these ‘poor little rich kids’—- Call Bill Ayers —- he’s on-campus right now—in Chicago —– Just give him a ring or a bong or a love note from his buddy, Obama!
barrack obama
barrack obama YES we can
brarrack Obama
barrack obama yes we can
he says “i’m tired of all these conservatives and their hate”
as if liberals have boundless LOVE
as a Gay person i can say that they are honestly mostly backstabbing scum when you go against their agenda
go against a liberals agenda
see how tolerant they are
All they can do is vote with their feet just like here in NY. Problem is these liberal kids think it’s Ok to hike costs and taxes on the rich, but when it happens to them, they cry about it. You can’t make the state pay for millions of illegals and billions in social programs and then have money left over to pay for education. It’s just that simple.
If you Californians don’t like it…do what us New Yorkers are doing…leave and find a new state to live in. When California and NY have nothing but non-producing citizens left, maybe they will wake up.
Liberal solution:
Cap the pay for all college professors and administrators.
Why should the students have to pay for the sins of an incompetent Democrat Legislature? Thank you Karen Bass.
Welcome to the real world you bunch of moonbatted morons.
Guys, this is NOT comparable to a tax hike. My tuition rises by a few percent every year, despite the fact that my school has been making budget cuts in every department for the past 15 consecutive years, and they’ve been canceling courses and adding new fees to pay for a building that no current students will ever have the opportunity to use. This sucks, but unfortunately, it’s life.
These students, on the other hand, are upset because their tuition is being hiked by 32% OVERNIGHT. This is something that many of these people could not possibly have been able to plan for when they were figuring out how to finance their education.
Yes, a lot of them are probably rich kids taking liberal arts degrees so they can put off real life for four years, but what about, say, engineering students who are working to pay their own way through university? These people might lose their chance at getting a degree and becoming licensed professionals because of a HUGE hike in student fees.
There are a few real US citizens in this group! Yeh, see that one next to the…. oh maybe the girl standing….no, well there are probably a US legal student in that group. Honest!
I put 3 kids through the UC and Cal State system. Even though I paid full load I always knew that my kids’ tuition was still highly subsidized. There is no possible way that 15K per year, per pupil even touches the true cost.
The real ripoff isn’t the tuition hike; the travesty is that most of what passes for liberal arts education isn’t even knowledge. It’s primarily liberal drivel served up by the least productive social class outside of ambulance chasers – tenured professors. These babies will graduate with no skills, no direction and a massively overblown sense of entitlement. Many will live in their parents’ pool houses until they apply for grad school in order to remain children in perpetuity.
I sat on a plane to Atlanta yesterday surrounded by kids heading to Army basic training. It was refreshing to see these unjaded, nervous kids, from lower income families hauling their own load with no complaints. Contrast that with the pictures you see from the Berkeley and UCLA.
Incredible.
Economics 101
WTF…. I thought these were the smartest people in the room?
Liberalism is TRULY a mental illness.
These students should complain to their Congress, not the school administrators.
oh sure, you were definitely gonna hear that Christianity is worse than Hitler in church cause that would make people feel better about their religion…
I will not bore anyone with my “walked twenty miles in the snow” story. Suffice it to say, these kids have it easy. Maybe they should be willing to cut some of the pork on campus, like say Chicano studies? What does one do with a degree in Chicano studies? Let the university get back to core subjects for awhile. Make sure illegals aren’t getting benefits that should be given to citizens. Wow dare I think that money for sports programs should be limited at this point? These kids vote liberally but really have never paid much in taxes. They have gotten a free ride considering what tuition would be anywhere else. How many of last years graduating class have found jobs? What is breaking the back of California is business leaving the state. Another thought is, who will bw doing the plumbing, electrical work, the everyday jobs that keep us afloat, if there are nothing but college graduates? Wait, we can out source it like everything else. Too many giveaways in this country. Maybe some of your student buddies should think about paying back student loans instead of defaulting on them. Hmmm there’s a thought! They all need a heavy dose of responsibility. They all need to grow up. I for one, will not support them until they do.
Here’s an idea: take all of the taxpayer monies out of “private” universities – take away subsidizing students loans, take away federal NIH and NSF grants from all “private” universities, and shift it all into the public system. Let’s see where the research and top profs go then. If we weren’t wasting all that money on “private” institutions, we could probably afford to keep public tuition a lot lower.
DF says, “I sat on a plane to Atlanta yesterday surrounded by kids heading to Army basic training. It was refreshing to see these unjaded, nervous kids, from lower income families hauling their own load with no complaints. Contrast that with the pictures you see from the Berkeley and UCLA.”
Hauling their own load? You mean tax payers hauling their load. The students at Berkley will do more for this country than any gun toting idiot that volunteers to go get shot for America’s Christian crusade in the East.
California public universities have always been obscenely inexpensive. Welcome to the reality of what other students pay in many other parts of the country every year! I live in Ohio where one can easily pay 15k a year to attend a second rate school. The difference is CA students are used to the state gov’t subsidizing such a large part of the tuition. Guess what! CA doesn’t have any money left to do this anymore. Now CA college kids can know what it’s like to pay for most of their tuition themselves like most other kids have to do in the rest of the country.
So the brave young americans that volunteer to serve in our military are gun toting idiots- god i wish i can punch you in the face.
What happened to the savior who was going to give you all the CHANGE you wanted, and free tuition for all who wanted to go to college. Well you just had a small taste of what your going to get all over this country. The empty suit, promises were all lies as you can see and hear. But I guess we will all learn what is going to happen in the future. One has to work hard to get what we deserve, not what others can give us. You young people have to learn to cast your vote for people who at least seem to have and integrity and love of country. Not there to give Handouts….I pray that your tuition would at least come down a little. We get what we deserve. Lets all get out of the Master Slave syndrome, Lets all be free, work hard and get an honest Govt. That will work for all the people instead a few elites. Whose desire is to be part of the ruling class.
Hey very nice blog!! Man .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds also…
Specialists argue that home loans help a lot of people to live the way they want, because they are able to feel free to buy needed stuff. Moreover, banks offer college loan for different classes of people.
