People of faith have been in the forefront in contronting societies ills. Food pantries, shelters, day care programs, substance abuse centers, help to victims of natural disasters, hospitals, schools, all of these programs are provided by people of faith. This does not even take into account the millions of small random acts of kindness carried out each day. As humans none of us is free of sin; the believer realizes this and strives to at least get closer to God's ideals for us all.

Have you ever given your time to charity. True charity gives the "giver" more peace and comfort than those receiving. I don't disagree that we collectively (through our governmetnt) can do good work. I just don't want the connection between those in need and the government to be a chain rather than a life-line. I am a black man who grew up in NYC. In my almost 50 years I have ssen what the government dole can do to inidviduals and families. It can rob them of thier spirit. No one hates the poor and less advantage. We just seek a more personal way of helping.

I actually do feel bad for anyone who has a negative comment to add here. Something amazing happened on Saturday. If you had taken the time to hear the message, you most likely would agree(whether you admit it or not).If you cannot see through your politics, you are either sadly misguided, or a straight up enemy of man. I have never considered myself cornily over-religious, but I can certainly tell the difference between right and wrong. The " Golden Rule" pretty much says it all.
I have also been a listener of Glenn's for 8 years now. I have never known him to be anything but honest, and deeply concerned about doing the right thing. Some of the things being said recently, about him and his fans, are nothing but wrong. Some of you may want to do a little inner reflection into your own lives. Regardless, I wish you the best. You have to understand though. These liberal bloggers that get sent over from MediaMatters and HuffPost don't care about the truth or facts. They don't listen to Glenn or know anything about him. They are following their first rule – demonize your enemy.

The thing that struck me most about the rally was that it was Americans absolutely thirsting to hear good things about themselves and their country, rather than the continuous insults, denigration and lies they have to listen to day in and day out from the Pres and his complicit media darlings. Who would stand for that indefinitely? I am not a religious person, but have nothing but respect for those who are – it is a cornerstone of our democracy. To deny this is to deny reality. Instead of empty platitudes and the "there are those who…" straw horse BO keeps trotting out like a broken record, Americans will work like Trojans to fulfill higher expectations of themselves, rather than fold to the soft bigotry of low expectations. Anyone who is ranting against an interdenominational, inspirational and uniquely American event should read the news stories coming out of the former Soviet Union regarding the increasing inability of citizens to assemble in public. Socialists, I hope you never have the guy you DON'T like telling you what you can and can't do under the new, centralized society you are ushering in right now.

I was fortunate to shake your hand & thank you in person at one of your book signings. At that event I told you that I had marched on 9-12 you thanked me & I assured you that I would go back. I was able to keep that promise on 8-28.

I couldn't be there but I watched the whole thing on C-Span, when the DVD comes out I will buy it. I stayed up and watch a big part of the Reclaiming the Dream Rally until I got sick to my stomach, there is a rally that deserves an awful lot of negative comments, they lied more than Bill and Hillary could ever imagine, if it wasn't the fault of George Bush it was the fault of the Whites, no personal responsibilities what ever.

I am sincerely not sure if you are just confused or you are intentionally twisting the issue, but I am giving you the benefit of the doubt. Please allow me to explain:

Dr. King advocated for equal rights (and protection of civil rights) NOT for social justice which bends the justice system towards one group of people. Equal justice which Dr. King advocated for is something that is guaranteed by the federal government as this is constitutionally mandated (provide for criminal and civil courts). Of course Dr. King would want the federal government to carry out its constitutional mandate to apply justice for everyone in the United States.

Glenn Beck took my shattered, weak faith and combined it with a few million fellow Americans (those in attendance, combined with Facebook, Newsbuster feeds and the televised CSPAN airing) and it changed me for the better.

You should have been at the Glenn Beck rally. I really think there were over 500,000 but I didn’t want to over estimate. I can’t begin to describe the whole atmosphere. My husband really has a deep seeded distrust of people. I think he was more affected by the positive vibes from the crowd then I was. WE WERE WALL TO WALL people and moving to go to the bathroom required a lot of stepping over chair arms, blankets and people. Everyone was very polite and accommodating and in great moods. I have never seen such good will in one place. There was NO trash left at all. My husband was so affected by what happened that day that he has a new appreciation of the human race. He trusts people a little more now. I was even overwhelmed by the good will by every race, color and creed of people that attended. We met people the night before and they called us the next day and we all sat together. They were from North Carolina and Florida.
