Tea Party Convention Organizer Defends Event to Alan Colmes

"We're trying to put on a first class event."

January 17, 2010 at 1:06 pm - The Alan Colmes Show
Dateline: New York, NY
anon   January 17th, 2010 - 1:23 pm

Combs is a creep. He ambushes his guests and pulls a Judith Regan on them.

JB   January 17th, 2010 - 1:33 pm

Jeez buddy, just answer the friggin question.

PatrickTX   January 17th, 2010 - 1:43 pm

Alan……. really? Spending 8 minutes grilling about finances? Have you ever done the same thing with either Clinton or Gore and the speaking fees THEY receive? And, at the very least, $75k would be insignificant compared to the millions that the aforementioned people have gained over their post-political careers. My guess is that the speaking fee was just to offset travel and room and board expenses.

And, so what if they charge $550 for the seminar?? They are providing a good or service that has value to the people willing to purchase and attend it. You may or may not realize this but….. (wait for it) THAT IS WHAT CAPITALISM IS ABOUT!!!

SO you don’t want to pay $550? Don’t attend.

And of course don’t even CONSIDER the theft of income and earnings the federal government seizes from us “for our own good” and in this instance, we have no choice in the transaction.
Alan criticizes this fee, but the government charging you 7500 a year for not having health insurance? not an issue in his mind

Snailmailtrucker   January 17th, 2010 - 2:05 pm

Hey ahole…They said they don’t comment on that subject.

STFU Colmes

Ann   January 17th, 2010 - 2:14 pm

What a hypocritcal, arrogant jerk. If he was interviewing a liberal group, Colmes he wouldn’t be asking any of these questions.

john   January 17th, 2010 - 2:35 pm

.

Bill Clinton and Al Gore make millions badmouthing America in speeches on Foreign soil and it’s treated by the press as words of wisdom… to be admired, no big deal… free pass.

I think this is really one of the big stories of the last quarter century in America — When the American Media went full tilt for the socialist left to push back against the Reagan revolution.

- no word on Obama’s background, Ayers, etc
- no word on Climategate
- no word on Sarah Palin getting her church firebombed Dec 2008
- no word on attempted firebombing of the RNC in MN 2008
- no word on firebombing of Perry’s governor’s mansion in TX 2009
- no word on John Edwards love child during campaign
- no word on SEIU beat downs of Gladney

That’s just the last 18 months! … Thank God for the internet and FOX… no wonder liberals are trying to shut them up.

Rexter   January 17th, 2010 - 3:13 pm

Alan Colmes: “John McCain is a liberal?????” LOL! I like Alan as far as liberals go but that question, sincere or not, speaks volumes about him.

OCB   January 17th, 2010 - 3:14 pm

Combs is a joke and his wife as well, Both are the bottom of the food chain :)

lillie8   January 17th, 2010 - 3:30 pm

Colmes fancies himself a journalist, didn’t he get the memo? Journalism is dead. Maybe he can get a job at The Insider.

lg   January 17th, 2010 - 3:50 pm

Combs has a point. These phony fat cat rinos have hijacked the tea movement which is in fact libertarian not republican. A good example would be the current Massachusetts race, where the real tea candidate (endorsed by the Boston Tea Party), is being completely ignored by the conservative establishment in favor of some big government rino type. As far as I see it, the tea movement has morphed into a conservative republican movement, which in it’s best form will never be able change politics as usual in Washington.

Rocko   January 17th, 2010 - 4:08 pm

I’m not so impressed with this Judson Phillips. I’m suspicious of these people suddenly trying to make money from these things but mainly the lack of financial transparancy. My guess is that the grass-roots Tea Partiers better watch some of these guys. Sounds pretty unethical.

eveh   January 17th, 2010 - 4:08 pm

Hannity use to sweep the floor with him. I expect that is the reason he is gone. He is just not well versed in what is going on and he asks stupid questions.

menotyou   January 17th, 2010 - 4:16 pm

I do not like Comb one bit, and think Hannity was dumb to have had such a progressive lib as a partner on his show. BTW, he is a commie and he is on record as saying that he palled with Yesser Arafat and thinks that he is no terrorist. All that said. This question about whether or not Palin was being paid any money is a very reasonable inquiry that has not yet been answered by either Palin or this group. While I am a supporter of Palin, I think her answer about this question on the factor was dubious and deceitful. She by effect gave a none-answer response. Thank God, the tea party in general is not a mainstream political party but instead an organic one and hopefully the followers get what is happening here by this particular phonies group trying to take away their thunder.
I personal have no problem with them having a fundraiser kind of gathering but who is being paid, how much and for what really does need to be a public info.

menotyou   January 17th, 2010 - 4:20 pm

Rocko / 2010 – 4:08 pm

My point exactly: The lack of transparency is unethical.

hillery   January 17th, 2010 - 4:39 pm

Palin is being paid, but the money is being put into her PAC. The money is then used to support Conservative candidates and issues.

Colmes, I believe knows this. The money does not go into Palin’s pocket.

Mike   January 17th, 2010 - 5:03 pm

Alan who??

I hope to God though that Sarah Palin doesn’t get a big head over her new “celebrity” status. She is riding a wave of celebrity and fame and has just received a lot of air time with Fox News but if she’s not careful (and I can’t stress this enough) she could perhaps lose her focus and bearing and become so enamored with herself and her celebrity “image” that the once true conservative could possibly become little more than a wayfaring socialite seeking primarily fame and fortune and lots of time in front of a TV camera. Time will tell.. but I do hope my cautions about her are incorrect in the final analysis. Go Sarah!!

kmichaels   January 17th, 2010 - 5:26 pm

I’d love a sweaty tea-bagging from Pat Robertson.

Norris   January 17th, 2010 - 5:29 pm

I listened to this twice! This guy is a CON-ARTIST! You high class tea-partiers had better stay the heck out of the way of the true grass-roots people in the movement. You may find yourselves rolled under the bus with the Socialist/Marxist Democrats. This is a very, very bad turn for the movement! Someone answer this question, “Why do you need to pay some flim-flam artist money to “organize” a protest?” Are you people really that stupid?, or do you just have more money than you have good sense and imaginations!

Snakedog   January 17th, 2010 - 5:35 pm

When Dr. Savage was on Hanity & Colmes several years ago discussing his NYTimes best seller “Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder (great reading) Alan asked Dr. Savage “does this mean I’m mentally ill Dr. Savage” Dr. Savage “i’m afraid so Alan” there was no response from Colmes as we all knew the answer even Alan.

scott   January 17th, 2010 - 6:18 pm

SEIU members openly support Scott Brown! The Far Left is imploding! The White House “dunt” know it yet!

menotyou   January 17th, 2010 - 7:33 pm

I just listened to it a third time and now I’m angrier than even. If he is holding an event that cost $550.00 a plate because he want it to be a high-class event, does that then mean that the people in organic tea party movement are hobo low-class. Show me a high-class tea party activist, and I show you a tea BAGGER. The fundamental prerequisite for entry into the tea party movement is that you simply can not be an elitists.

TP PARTY   January 17th, 2010 - 7:40 pm

It’s none of Alan Colmes business if some for-profit businessman is trying to hijack the Tea Party with a phony Tea Party Convention. If people want to get ripped off by some fake populist scamster, let them. It’s what is known as free enterprise!

dontflagmebro   January 17th, 2010 - 7:54 pm

But the DEM’s should like have a big thing with fake roman colums spending millions and rigging the networks. THEN.. complain about one guest speaker and 5 bucks entry fee. Fair & Balanced!

lg   January 17th, 2010 - 8:19 pm

yes Scott, the SEIU is supporting Brown. What does that tell you?

testicular man   January 17th, 2010 - 8:53 pm

Alan Colmes is the biggest doofus ever! So what’s the problem with Sarah making money! What’s wrong with that?

Sage   January 17th, 2010 - 9:18 pm

Colmes = Skeletor

I dont care what shes getting paid, it is irrelevent.

Z06   January 17th, 2010 - 9:49 pm

Colmes is your typical libtard loser. He’s got the looks to prove it.

Mr. Colmes…..It’s better to be a teabagger than a teabaggee…

Open wide, dumshyte…and don’t byte

STEVE   January 17th, 2010 - 10:14 pm

CLOWARD-PIVENS STATEGY .COM look it up and see just what is really happening.

Army of Davids   January 17th, 2010 - 10:23 pm

Early stages….MSM ramping up information warfare on Tea Parties and conservative/libertarian bloggers.

Big Mistake…..I say bring it on.

Anderson Cooper, Chris Matthews and the rest of the MSM who think of us as “tea baggers” will be sorry. We are smart and ready.

scott   January 17th, 2010 - 10:36 pm

lg

no…SEIU isnt supporting brown. SEIU members are breaking rank and supporting brown. Watch the Video and see what these MEMBERS say about SEIU.

So whatcha trying to say lg ?

Greg Zotta   January 17th, 2010 - 10:45 pm

I believe she said she was not going to keep the money, she would use it to help conservatives get elected. If they are charging to come to the event and you do not want to pay don’t go.

scott   January 17th, 2010 - 11:59 pm

bizarre: Secret Service agents and Worcester police taking a Martha Coakley supporter into custody.

and then they barred this Scott Brown supporting, card-carrying SEIU member outside of the Bill Clinton/Martha Coakley rally at Worcester Polytechnical Institute. Not only was he forbidden access to the handicapped ramp-the only way he could enter the auditorium- but he wasn’t the only SEIU member to show up in support of Scott Brown.

lg   January 18th, 2010 - 12:50 am

Scott, I like Brown and I hope he beats Coakley. I’m just a bit disappointed with some folks who’ve been screaming freedom and small government yet are completely ignoring the one candidate in this race who actually stands on those principals. Some are defending themselves by saying he has no shot and a vote for him would be a vote for coakley, and that may be true, but as far as I’m concerned they are selling out and have lost their creditability. If you look at Brown’s record he is not a fiscal conservative, he voted against cutting the Massachusetts income tax, and is ‘proud’ to say he voted for Romneycare. The dems in Mass like him so much because they know he is not a conservative and they’ll still get their government cheese with him at the wheel. I don’t live in Mass, but if I did I would vote for that other guy, the one who’s name won’t be mentioned by the fake tea party’s hypocrites.

scott   January 18th, 2010 - 1:10 am

IG,

I like the other candidate too. But it is vital right now that we win. This fight against the far left is the real battle. A third party candidate, Ross Perot, gave us 8 years of Clinton. I liked Ross Perot. But he was only a spoiler. Until we have a third party candidate who can win….it is not worth the minute differences to let the Far Left win because the winner isn’t quite as conservative as we like.

kdizzydaze   January 18th, 2010 - 8:48 am

waste of 8 minutes.

Beef Jerky   January 18th, 2010 - 12:43 pm

No wonder Holmes is no longer on Fox. This guy just wasted 8 minutes being a disingenuous idiot.

Waffen SS   January 18th, 2010 - 1:16 pm

Someone ask the assclown Colmesover how much the Airhead America cruise costs? 5400$ for a 500$ to 1500$ cabin….. So you can hang with Madcow and other sick shiteheads? I don’t think so….

Colmes IS a sniveling little creep…I have NO IDEA why Hannity likes him, he gives me the willies. Just like all the other arrogant, elitist, “I know better than you what’s good for you” insufferable jerks in the Democratic Party. I wish we could load up all these cases of arrested development and put them on a slow boat to Cuba…or China…or the totalitarian country of their choice….

wm   January 18th, 2010 - 10:30 pm

combs always thinks he has a scope.,,lol..another bottom feeder.,,he seems jealous of everyone.,,how can anyone listen to him is beyond me.

petef   January 24th, 2010 - 1:41 pm

I’d pay her 250,000 for her to speak!

petef   January 24th, 2010 - 1:45 pm

Hey Alan, maybe the people paying her are just going to send it to the candidates she wants to support, you babbling moron!
