Supreme Court Chief Justice: Scene at State of Union Was ‘Very Troubling’

"The image of having the members of one branch of government standing up, literally surrounding the Supreme Court, cheering and hollering while the court — according the requirements of protocol — has to sit there expressionless, I think is very troubling."

Well spoken and very true.

Your Honor, modern liberals are children. But, rest assured, you’ve done the right thing and the American People are behind you. In fact, the angrier they behave, the more certain you can be that you did the right thing. Thank you for being a grown up among adolescents.

It’s the age of Obama. Everything is political theatre and nothing more. Principles? Country? God? Not for the Obamunists.

Let’s show them what true patriotic Americans are made of. Starting in November.

We are being led by a group of immature progressives with a vision of America that does not include the Supreme Court, Congress or the Constitution.
Think “Lord of the Flys” or worse.
The progressives have been working for this moment for over 100 years. This is their hour.
They are extreme radicals who have no idea where they are taking us and they do not care. They are godless, they use the filthiest language which most of us have ever heard, and if Beezelbub himself were in charge, I am not sure what the difference would be.
We actually have a terrorist friendly government that resents our founding fathers and all that they and our country stands (stood?) for.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   March 9th, 2010 - 10:05 pm

It was not only uncomfortable…it was unpresidential for Bilderberg Bush-Obama to chastise the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

He is trying to destroy their credibility because he has no respect for our Constitution and those who are chosen to uphold this very important document of our Republic.

Thank you for speaking up and speaking out…we felt the same…only we are allowed to be even more descriptive and open on how we felt.

GOD bless you as you lead the highest court in our land!

Chief Justice Roberts, I believe, will go down as one of the greatest justices
in the Supreme Court’s history. He is right; they shouldn’t be at the State of
the Union. It’s like having Mother Teresa and her convent sisters sitting in the middle
of a rugby match. Obama is like a bad used-car salesman who’s annoyingly pushing
his agenda on you, and you just know that he doesn’t know how to change the oil
on the car he’s trying to sell you! Get the justices out of that ugly spectacle!

That scene would have made any dictator proud!

It is seared in not only my memory but also those of many other Americans who embrace Constitutional government. For me, it was a shot across the bow which more clearly revealed disdain for Constitutional principles and a resounding endorsement of thuggish politics by the Democratic-controlled Congress.

U NO HOO   March 9th, 2010 - 10:39 pm

next time when you get no answers from so many quesitons about a candidate, cross him/her off your list.
next time beleive former associations of a candidate does matter.

George Wishart   March 9th, 2010 - 10:53 pm

I take comfort in the fact that the leader of ONE of our branches of government has some respect for the Constitution and the tradition of the State of the Union event. It’s very sad that Obama is completely lacking in that area. What a disappointment. To have seen Obama attack the Supreme Court in that fashion — and especially by mischaracterizing the Court’s holding, like any Chavista demagogue, was shocking.

Roberts may be a very smart guy, but notice that he was still there. Who was the only justice with the presence of mind to not go at all? Justice Thomas.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Chief Justice Roberts, but Justice Thomas took the right path in this mess (of course, he’s also the one they can’t call a racist).

infinitewisdom4u   March 9th, 2010 - 11:21 pm

every word by justice roberts true. when the justices, every one of them having more knowledge and comprehension of the world in their pubic hairs than obama has in his head, have to sit there and listen to potus’s rhetorical, and incorrect, comments about the courts decision for political points it gave full testimony to the classlessness and thuggery of obama. at that point in time, if you did not comprehend that the person occupying the office of the president was a narcissist bufoon, then you weren’t paying attention.

Well you know what this means. Kerry and the other clowns in the Senate will start impeachment hearings soon. bahhahaha OK even they might not be stupid enough to try that, but I bet they’ll do some show boating on the floor. They can’t help themselves, they are angry little spoiled children.

Bush dropped the ball in more than a few ways but we did get a couple of great Supreme Court Judges out of him in Roberts & Alito.

john   March 10th, 2010 - 12:14 am

Thanks” W” for Chief Justice Roberts, is a great mind and a great Supreme Court Justice. Yes, we miss you already.

Clarence Thomas didn’t go because they can’t call him a racist for not going. I think it was classy of Chief Justice Roberts and Alito to be there for Oobama when they didn’t have to go.

As a result of Obama’s thuggishness, I hope the Chicago 2nd Amendment case before the SCOTUS results in .50 caliber BARs for everybody over the age of 16, just to piss him off and remind him that the citizens are still in charge.

The whack leftist lib “obvious you have this skin please do find another line of work”(horrible, long and stupid screen name)is evidently ignorent of the civility and the decorum of ethics when it comes to the State of the Union. It should not be a place for the Executive Branch (The President) and the Legislative (The Congress) to attack the Supreme Court (Judicial) in this duty that is required by the Constitution (an article that liberals despise of course)for this cheap shot. Totally uncalled for and shows a lack of class by the “annointed one.” But libs have no class anyway so there ya go.

TruckerMatt   March 10th, 2010 - 12:56 am

That was a minor incident that evening during the state of the union address, but a glimpse of what the future holds. If the progressive communists completely take over, they will be dragging conservative justices and congressman out of the house and imprisoning them.

Rudini   March 10th, 2010 - 1:16 am

MAYBE, just maybe 53% of the nation voted for what we got. That’s no concensus. Nixon had a concensus. Reagan had a concensus. But now the libs move as if they got a concensus. How well do you think this will play out? I am surprised the Justices did not walk out of the State of the Union address.

What the messiah forgot – or is still ignorant of – is that the SCOTUS has equal power. They are one of the 3 branches in power.
What Barry O’Soeotoro (St. Patty’s Day moniker) did was reprehensible and proves what a mockery he’s made of the office of the POTUS.

History will not be kind to Barry – as long as history books can be ripped from the hands of the socialist revisionists and reverted back to reflect the truth.

When the Fore Score and Seven Year speech of Abraham Lincoln issued in the deadliest war in America’s history, and that’s all other wars combined; who on God’s good earth would believe this nation would be subservient to a bunch of Chicago hoodlums?

The arrogance and ignorance of those in public office who stem to serve a few, foretells of what is coming in the utter destruction of this nations principals. No clearer display of disrespect was heir-apparent than the U.S. Congress and a standing President condemning the Supreme Judicial Court rulings together, that did not frighten this nation, and only confirmed our bad judgment of electing them.

Chief Justice Roberts, surely, you jest. First, you SCOTUSes are supposed to be the mature, responsible adults in the room. Plus, you guys and gals are appointed for life, meaning you never have to stand for re-election. We, Americans, expect Congress — especially, the House side — to behave like boisterous, unruly children. After all, they represent — and reflect — us. Your job is to make sure they — and we — don’t get too boisterous and unruly. If you’d like to stand up and cheer — or boo — during the State of the Union address, shed the fancy robe and get down in the political trenches. I’m sure you and your fellow SCOTUSes would last all of about five seconds there ;-)

Who is running the government????? I think maybe the UNIONS?????

Who is allowing these supreme court…communists…. to break our laws and get away with it…Hmmm

When the Fore Score and Seven Year speech of Abraham Lincoln issued in the deadliest war in America’s history, and that’s all other wars combined. Who on God’s good earth would believe this nation would become victims and subservient to a bunch of Chicago hoodlums?

The arrogance and ignorance of those in public office who stem to serve a few, foretells what is coming, in the utter destruction of this nations principles. No clearer display of disrespect is heir-apparent than the U.S. Congress and a standing President condemning the Supreme Judicial Court, with applause. The fact that this display did not frighten this nation, has only confirmed the bad judgment of those who elected them into office with prejudice and agendas unbecoming the nation.

Now who is going to clean house of their cancerous four years of deeds, teachings, regulations, czars, appointments, presidential orders and laws they passed? No man is on the horizon, but maybe a woman from Alaska, they hate and vilify daily, may well clean house. With legal multi lingual allowances, failure to respect unborn life, the criminal acts of its elected officials who currently serve and go unpunished, and the failure to protect its borders, almost guarantees our own downfall, regrettably.

Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Alito, Justice Thomas, and Justice Scalia are the ONLY PEOPLE in our government who make me feel secure. They are men of integrity and deep reflection. The politicians who populate the other 2 branches of government are incompetent, reactionary, power-hungry, and destructive enemies of America. The four Justices I just named are the type of people who should be RUNNING our government. But unfortunately, the smart and talented people who live in America participate in the free enterprise system and the rest of the bottom-dwellers end up getting into politics because they could NEVER survive in the private sector. DOWN WITH PELOSI. DOWN WITH OBAMA. DOWN WITH THIS TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT!!! (hey, maybe if we make it our GOAL to overthrow the government, we will be eligible for “stimulus” funding just like the Breit Foundation and that Bald Communist who Beck brought to everyone’s attention — time for a CITIZEN UPRISING AND A CITIZEN REBELLION!!!!) STARVE THE GOVERNMENT!!!! STOP PAYING TAXES!!!! SURROUND THE CAPITAL, TAKE OUT THE PHONE LINES, AND MAKE THE POLITICIANS HIDE INSIDE THE BUILDING UNTIL THEY RUN OUT OF FOOD AND WATER!!!!!!!!! …now, I’m going to apply for stimulus money….

It was ‘very troubling’ to watch – Although the supreme court has made some unpopular decisions they have also made some excellent ones – they are the interpreters of our most precious document, our last bastion of hope for freedom and liberty, and the only ones who can protect us from these tyrannical politicians. Obama’s treatment of them was very telling…
