The two are not the same thing, period. And, Palin is exactly right to ask if Hope and Change is working out, since that is precisely what our President campaigned on, HEAVILY. Colbert is just as entitled to his opinion of a ’scion’ of the far right, as are those that call the President ‘obummer’, ‘nobama’, etc. Colbert and Stewart provides a fairly even accounting of political/social issues with a humorous twist. They are the humorous counterpart to Fox’s uber serious/ideological Hannity, Beck, et al.
Yes, they do rip both sides of the political spectrum, contrary to popular conservative thinking. Why does it seem so one sided? Mainly because the ideologues on the right refuse to come right out and openly proclaim their basic beliefs:
1. All taxes should be abolished (or at least paid by the non elite, because, after all the elite are the ‘job creators’)
2. We need to make and USE our military machine/industrial complex in order to protect US interests and not appear soft to the world (even though the majority of the benefactors of war are the elite/bankers, and the ones who pay for it all with tax and blood are the non-elite)
3. The country was founded by white protestants, and is therefore supposed to be mainly governed by and for the same.
4. Intellectualism and institutions of higher learning are a bane on our youth, poisons their minds, and as such should be marshalled out of existence. All schooling should come from our religious institutions.
5. Obviously, there should be no government social programs, and those that are in existence should be quickly phased out in order to irradicate socialism from our country.
6. The rule of law is biblicaly based, and therefore things such as alternative sexuality rights, womens rights, civil rights, etc can (and should) be reversed.
Come on folks, if you right wing conservs would just own up to your own beliefs, you would steal the oppositions thunder. America is tired of the game, we really want everyone to come right out and acknowledge their beliefs, so we can take a final stand. What’s wrong, are you embarrased of your own beliefs?

Obama pretty much writes all his speeches. All celebrities/politicians use Telepromters (Palin uses a Tele_PALMER). There was no telepromter at the GOP Q&A in Baltimore where Obama nailed the Republicans.

OK, this is getting really sad. Steven C is a writter turned tv personality/host. For 2 hours a week, he and Stewart use socio/political humor to earn their bread. They both earn big bucks for 4 hours of work per week. They are on the air a mere fraction of the time as the likes of Hannity, Rush, O’Reilly, etc, so I would be hesitant to say they are a ’serious force for intellectual liberals’. They obviously hit home with a lot of people, otherwise they would be useless to the corporate bottom line. Speaking of corporate bottom line, guess who they work for? Unaddressed and unasked questions abound surrounding Sarah Palin’s new found interest in the tea party, so I ask, why now? Given she is employed by Fox, I ask why now? Given she has to date never disclosed the terms of her contract with Fox, I ask, why now? Given that she failed to mention just when she was first contacted and recruited into Fox, the question should be, why now?
I recall a major gathering of the Tea Party folks, from all around the country they came. I recall Rep Bachman was there. But I sure don’t recall the likes of Sarah Palin there. In fact, during that same event, she instead chose to fly all the way to Hong Kong to deliver a speech to an international group of very high powered corporate executives.
On the day that Sarah becomes a bit more “transparent” involving the timing of her relationship with Fox, then, and only then, will I drink from kool-aid-right.

She should have called him out as well or at least said that she didn’t like his repetive use of it but inderstood what he was trying to do. What it means to be a “Liberal”
Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly Americans out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.
What did Conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things – every one! So when you try to hurl that label at my feet, “Liberal”, as if it were something to be ashamed of, something dirty, something to run away from, it won’t work because I’ll pick that label up and wear it as a badge of honor.

I used to like Colbert but this callous and feeble attempt at one-upping Jon Stewart is a sad reflection on him. The Liberals KNOW they can get away with making non-PC and derogatory comments toward unfortunate people. They engage in name calling like the schoolyard cowardly bullies they are. My neighbor just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with Downs. If i heard Stewart or anyone else use that language around her I would kick his silly little ass…hope someone does real soon!
