Now we’re redefining “democracy”? Is this for the Obama administration’s NewSpeak Dictionary?
#democracyis : not the type of government the United States has. We are a Democratic Republic, there is a difference.

Democracy is something once loosely used as a synonym for representative government, but it is inaccurate because although it is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, the People are still the subjects of the king i.e. the Constitution. Therefore, they are to elect representatives who will not sway with the whims of the majority (or minority) but who will seek to uphold the “king” by honoring the original intentions of its authors in context. This is why the term Republic is more accurate. The term “Republic” also carries with it the connotation of State sovereignty over against an omnipotent Federal government.
To bad the USA is a Republic and not a Democracy . . . soon to be the “United Democratic Socialist Republic States of America” or something to that effect.
