He's a class act. Good for him.

randyjsing   August 7th, 2011 - 12:36 am

Congratulations Shannon Sharpe. Hard work plays off. What a class act to consider yourself "2nd best" in your family~~yielding to your brother Sterling Sharpe. Wow. That's humility. Congress…what's your excuse?

Spartacus   August 7th, 2011 - 1:21 am

Congratulations, Mr. Sharpe. Your grandma should be very, very proud of the man you are.

LIRight   August 7th, 2011 - 3:17 am

I watched the entire speech at the link provided above and I'm glad I did……it was well worth the time.

Before watching the speech I used to think that Sharpe was a loud-mouth, self-centered buffoon. I don't think that way any longer!

The speech was inspiring, uplifting and delivered perfectly…….what a guy!!

6musket6   August 7th, 2011 - 3:45 am

Believe it or not…class and style NEVER go out of fashion…….

joymc   August 7th, 2011 - 4:20 am

Fantastic. I loved it.

GoldwatersChild   August 7th, 2011 - 6:15 am

A man with a sense of humor is a wise man indeed.

ChiTownTom   August 7th, 2011 - 6:53 am

Congrats Shannon…you deserve it. And a special shout out to Richard Dent…it is about TIME.

sulmak   August 7th, 2011 - 6:55 am

Not many people can go 15 minutes over and keep their audiences attention.

ChkUFarley   August 7th, 2011 - 7:02 am

Remember when everyone felt passion like that?!
That was the United STates…

Divrack   August 7th, 2011 - 7:04 am

Ditto Me to I respected him as a player How could you not ? But know i respect him more as a man which is significantly more important. I always thought Streling was a class act Kudos to both of you

Mrs.Tank   August 7th, 2011 - 7:06 am

Wow! I'm glad you posted this because I was out with the hub yesterday having lunch and couldn't hear a word of this and REALLY wanted to so THANKS!

Mrs.Tank   August 7th, 2011 - 7:13 am

Well now after watching it I have to go put on fresh makeup. :-( *sniff*

houster   August 7th, 2011 - 7:39 am

That speech should be shown in every high school in the country.

jamsniffer   August 7th, 2011 - 8:31 am

That is an attitude of gratitude.

blakendecker   August 7th, 2011 - 8:34 am

If you didn't tear up during this, well…

claspur   August 7th, 2011 - 8:48 am

Deion Sanders also gave a great speech, detailing what drove him and apologizing to his mother for being ashamed of what she did for a living.. And how can you deny a linebacker who's nickname was "The Hangman"?

Phoenixisme   August 7th, 2011 - 9:06 am

Yes, do watch the full speach. Then, I say, clone this man. We need more real men just like him. Just imagine this country if we had more of him out there teaching our next generation of young men what a man is supposed to be.

Taxpayer1234   August 7th, 2011 - 9:09 am

Great speech. But what's with the commercial-o-rama before and after? Bleh!

oakhillhorn   August 7th, 2011 - 9:38 am

There's a reason it's called chasing your dreams and not walking after them…. "Don't hope someone gives you an opportunity, Create on for yourself" ………… Pres. Obama are you LISTENING ……..

Johnny friegas   August 7th, 2011 - 10:28 am

See. Now I can't make fun of him anymore.

WildCrazyGuy   August 7th, 2011 - 10:39 am

True Words From a Good MAN !
GOD BLESS U Grandma's and Grandad's ! Love And Thanks !

ChiTownTom   August 7th, 2011 - 11:13 am

I was going down the tri-state yesterday and caught one of the "super boats" being towed your way. Wow…impressive. What a machine. I could have fit my kid in one of its tailpipes. Again…Wow!

claspur   August 7th, 2011 - 11:19 am

That stream isn't up and running yet.
First race (smaller class) should almost be over.

The stream count was 58 looking, and they say it's full?
That doesn't make any sense to bother to run a stream if that's all that'll be able to watch it?

charlie2037   August 7th, 2011 - 11:30 am

SHANNON YOU HAVE A BIG MOUTH! But more importanly, you have a gentle heart and an intellegent mind to go with it. I have followed your career from day one, watched as you became the ultimate football player, watched as you tried to help your teamates, those that were injured and those that were having a bad game. You single handed turned the Baltimore Ravens around, you helped the fans welcome one of their linebackers back to the team when he was in trouble, you stepped up and advised the lackluster coaching staff on how to win a Superbowl. I would love to shake your hand Shannon Sharpe. God Bless you.

lizardAZ   August 7th, 2011 - 11:54 am

Everyone should listen to the full speech, what a great man. He represented the true path to the American dream, faith, hard work, and determination.

complexphenom   August 7th, 2011 - 1:16 pm

That's what drove Shannon and that's what makes Capitalism so great to those who choose to believe.

GeorgeTyrebitre   August 7th, 2011 - 10:06 pm

Bravo, that's how it's done!
