That is why any law has so many, often horible, “unindended” consequences. This is why they should first approve plain english (conceptual) version of health care reform and post it for public discussion BEFORE they even ATTEMPT to codify it into a law.
This is not the first time that legislators have announced their comprehension level is way below that of the average citizen. Not the first time either that they complained of not having the time nor the interest to read what they are supposed to be deliberating, or have deliberated and voted into law.
The questions all of the above posters posed are very relevant! Why are we, the citizens, being ruled/saddled/punished by laws and regulations promulgated by irresponsible, reading-impaired, uncaring, pompous A*ses?

The arrogance; the incompetence is unbelievable..The American people have more intelligence in their finger tip than these so called reps in the Congress…They do not have a clue what this country was founded upon and they should read the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution..required reading for them before they enter the Congress…They are totally clueless and an embarrassment.
Back in the day didn’t the Catholic church make the same argument as to why the Bible shouldn’t be made available in languages besides Latin and Greek.

One thing about the Catholics though, was that Latin was a learnable language. Once you understand Latin you can easily go through and understand any book or document written in Latin. There is nothing evil about Latin. It is a rather easy language to follow. Greek was rarely used by the Catholics and was only promoted in the sense that if a document was originally written in Greek then they liked to have experts read it. I am no fan of keeping things in their original languages but at least there were plenty of experts that can easily read Latin and there is no debate about its meanings.

No surprise. The average Senator is no more intelligent than the average American. I doubt most Americans could understand the language in the bill. Nevertheless, the bill should be made available so that those of us who can understand the statutory language of the bill can identify the problems the bill may create.
