Senator: Constitution Permits Congress to Force Americans to Buy Health Insurance

CNS News: Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) told CNSNews.com that Congress has the authority to force individual Americans to buy health insurance because the U.S. Constitution “charges Congress with the health and well-being of the people.” The words “health” and “well-being” do not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

Sorry about that stupid comment. I’m having my period and had messed and wet my pants and I was a little off when I got carried away and added words to the Constitution that aren’t there. Barack Hussain Obama promised me that if I’d like his greasy O’ ring and vote for this sheet, he would make sure that I got reelected in 2010. Mary Landrue and I have both been licking Obamas nuttsac and his O’ ring (he forgot to wipe) because we know he has kept every promise he’s ever made. We are safe and we’ll be back in the Senate all safe and sound. Has anybody got some Listerene and Purel????

Using her reasoning, there is no need for most of the rest of the Constitution. Everything could be done under the General Welfare clause.

She is either an idiot, or a liar.

If the Democrats think we will allow them to force us to become tax slaves, they are sorely mistaken. In fact, should they pass such a bill, we will take them to task and prosecute them for abuse of power and treason. If the DoJ won’t prosecute, we will.

Andy   December 16th, 2009 - 5:04 pm

Wow, she can’t even cite the wildly mis-interpreted “general welfare” clause. I hope and pray that when our country goes into the inevitable depression/hyperinflation (there simply no way to stop it… it will be one or the other), we have a peaceful and civil revolution versus a French Revolution.

God help us all.

I think she means the constitution set forth by communist regimes. This progressive stupidity passes the kool-ai drinkers. Someone take her out back and shoot her for treason.

Blanche Lincoln, now down to 37% against her opponent   December 16th, 2009 - 5:17 pm

ROFLMAO!!! Sorry Lincoln, take your thoughts that the Constitution allows Congress to force Americans to buy anything from the Government and stick it up your “you know what!”. Your plan, if passed, will not only be repealed after the 2010 elections, but will also be challenged using the Constitution. Don’t waste your time. Nice to see your approval number against your competition in 2010 is 37% and dropping. YOU ARE OUTTA HERE! Democrats are now turning into Kamikazes.

yo1   December 16th, 2009 - 5:23 pm

The liberal game plan is to force young people to buy health insurance in order to further subsidize the old people who consume health services. We just keep the ponzi scheme going by inflating our way out of it. Inflation is the best method by the government to take from its wealthy citizens. If I have 1,000 dollars and Tyrone Acorn has 1 dollar and if we have 50% inflation I lose 500 dollars and Mr. Acorn loses 50 cents. But they won’t even lose the 50 cents because transfer payments (welfare, food stamps, etc) and now min wage are indexed to CPI, so they will get the 50 cents back in the form of a check from you the tax payer. So prepare for inflation it is comming and Obama wants it to come.

BullDawg   December 16th, 2009 - 5:25 pm

It’s almost funny when these idiots think they know the Constitution, but in this case it’s scary. There should be a test on the Constitution when you get elected and if you can’t pass it then take your ass back to Arkansas. PEOPLE WAKE UP, Washington is filled with a bunch of morons that need to go. http://www.givemeliberty2010.com

Bubba Redneck   December 16th, 2009 - 5:27 pm

As a voter in Arkansas I have voted against both of our Senators that are serving now. They talk one way at home and do things like this while away. The hold that Blanche has right now is the chair of the agriculture committee. As you may or may not know the entire eastern half of Arkansas is farmland…she has done a GREAT job of bringing home pork spending in the form a farm subsidies and loans. She and Mark Pryor are both terrible for Arkansas and as you can see…our Country.

James Madison quotes:
With respect to the words general welfare, I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.

P.S. James Medison was the principal author of the US Constitution.

JameS   December 16th, 2009 - 6:28 pm

I’m a Democrat, and I disagree. I think it is fine for Congress to do what it can to enact legislation that helps average Americans have better access to health care. However the issue of forcing people to buy health care insurance is entirely a different matter. To me, that seems unconstitutional, since the core reason for the constitution was to create a framework for a “free” country.

Myself, I an an extremely healthy person who eats a healthy diet and gets a lot of exercise. To force me to buy insurance that is basically the same as what some fat lazy glutton is buying, is ridiculous. I predict that it will be struck down in the courts.

subsonic5   December 16th, 2009 - 6:31 pm

Well Blanch maybe you should read that constitution maybe you’d be surprised what’s in it you don’t know, and from the sound of thing that’s quite a lot.
Didn’t you take and oath to up hold that constitution, gee and you don’t even know what’s in it. Democrat right oh I’m sorry that would be LEFT………FAR LEFT IN YOUR CASE.

Thanks, that was one of the most sensible remarks I have read, or heard since this entire healthcare fiasco started. It will definitely be in the Supreme Court in short order.

sam t   December 16th, 2009 - 7:26 pm

how do these people get elected, dont even know the constitution.god help us

D. from FL   December 16th, 2009 - 7:26 pm

The problem with the so called “General Welfare clause” that congressmen are using to justify their actions, is that mandating the purchase of healthcare is not for the “general welfare for those who have to be the ones paying for others to benefit thus even that argument is flawed! For it to be “general” welfare, ALL parties have to benefit.

The bottom line is that it can’t be found anywhere in the constitution – it’s plain and simply not constitutional!

Sen Airhead is my senator and she is not known to be the smartest bean in the patch here in Arkansas. I wrote her and Sen Pryor and told them both to start looking for another job. We are sick of both of them here. 57% of Arkansans do not want this bill. Lincoln voted for this bill knowing full well that she will not be re-elected next year and I’m sure that Obammy will give her a job in the Agriculture Dept picking cotton or bailing hay. She is not smart enough to do anything else. I need someone to cut my grass, Blanch.

‘31 Corrupt Politicians in 31 Days’ is something that I have been watching. It is a program that shows corrupt politicians and the scandals they were or are part of, I think because of Schumer’s little outburst, he may be targeted tomorrow for his scandals. He is one of the least spoken of, most corrupt politicians in the democrat party. This program is being put together by http://www.americanparchment.com who is doing this as a preview for their program next year having to do with the elections and showing the corruption in all of the politicians that will be up in that vote. You can contribute your two cents by emailing them your thoughts or articles about certain politicians’ corruption, if you know of any not covered.

Anyone wanting to run for an office wherein, if they win, they will take an oath to protect the Constitution, must before being allowed to become a candidate pass a test on their knowledge of the Constitution. If they fail, then they can take a course and retake the test until they can pass it at no less than an 80%. Senator’s oath – I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

m miller   December 17th, 2009 - 7:15 am

The CONSTITUTION does not contain the word force. Are these people lunatics or have they always been irrational. Lincoln is not a moderate, she is an irrational liberal socialist.

To the soon to be former Sen. Lincoln   December 17th, 2009 - 7:56 am

Dear Senator Lincoln:

Congratulations, I see that you voted for cloture on the Health Care Bill.

Having read an article about the amount of money allocated in an amendment to secure the ‘AYE’ vote the Senator from the Great State of Louisiana secured for her state it would seem whatever the price was for your vote to continue this health care bill you will have to up the ante a bit to actually pass this bill into law.

Are you going to ask for 500 million or just go for a trillion dollars?

I will be eagerly waiting with bated breath.

Rick   December 17th, 2009 - 8:07 am

We are all doomed to three more years of this… Get ready…

midnight   December 17th, 2009 - 8:53 am

Senator
If you would read just the first sessions of congress, at least read this, when it all started, in this great country you would find something amazing.
Our leaders of the time Jeferson, Franklin, Adams and many, many more that were present. You would see they wanted liberty, freedom for the American people. They didn’t want more or bigger government. A government that controlled the people. They wanted government to help but stay a small part of the American life.
I’ll remind you that you can go online and read their statements yourself it’s in the congressional records. anybody can see them.So look and study and see what they intended for the people.
It is not government control.

testicular man   December 17th, 2009 - 9:04 am

This is what happens when liberals are put in charge. They tax the hell out of us and want to dictate what to do in our lives and threaten you with soft tyranny, which eventually leads to dictatorship. You know Rush, Hannity, Levin, Coulter and the rest of the conservatives were right on the money.

Let’s boot these a**wipes out in 2010!

Desiree   December 17th, 2009 - 9:58 am

This “woman” is dumb and ugly. This pig needs a good swift kick in her ugly head. You think you can force us pig, try it. You are nothing but an over-paid
public servant. You people in Arkansas should be mortified by this pig’s ignorance. Get some self-respect and boot this pig out of office.

brien   December 17th, 2009 - 11:39 am

This woman epitomizes the elitist attitude prevalent in DC They all think we are stupid enough to believe their lies merely because they fooled their constuents into voting for them. Let’s hope the fine folks from Arkansas wake up and smell the wafting aroma of liberty by getting rid of this idiot elitist.

John Frost   December 18th, 2009 - 8:06 am
