Don't sign anything regarding the boarder, obama! Everyone might label you as a racist, and your approval ratings will go down s'more.

freedom rocks   August 13th, 2010 - 6:16 am

Wait a minute, we're going to tax business owners from India, operating legal businesses in the U.S. to keep Mexicans from coming here illegally, and this makes sense to anybody? Mr Schumer just for the record, you are always wrong, government never correctly predicts the effects of their policies. Just more tax and spend.

bobmc2   August 13th, 2010 - 6:17 am

It is a border bill…that doesn't close the border! He doesn't want to lose future democrats.

Tomtom29   August 13th, 2010 - 6:19 am

Kiss my ass, Chuckie. You are an idiot.

claspur   August 13th, 2010 - 6:26 am

Chuckie is doodie…..full of doodie.

PaulLThompson   August 13th, 2010 - 6:27 am

I thought we couldn't do anything until reforms were passed? Where's the immigration reform?
Smoke and mirrors is all this administration can come up with.

mariodebarrio   August 13th, 2010 - 6:27 am

why are they pretending to work so hard during the august recess? these guys are scared to come home to there town hall meetings.

Hailodumbo   August 13th, 2010 - 6:28 am

If Arizona didn't pressure Obama/senate to do something, nothing would have gotten done. This is nothing more than Obama/senate trying to say they are doing their job and deal with this problem . You should have done something over a year ago!!!

Demdemdems   August 13th, 2010 - 6:30 am

Unbelievable. I recommend everyone listen to Chucky MORE than once, and understand exactly what they are doing, who they are targetting, and of what this is the functional equivalent. This is a gem:

"It IS fully paid for, and does NOT increase the deficit."

No, it is NOT fully paid for. The plan is that it will be paid for IF those targeted by this visa tax do not change their behavior. If they do change their behavior, then the projected revenue will be just that, projected, but the expenditure will have already taken place. This is typical. It would be one thing to have an account labelled "visa tax monies for border security", fill it up, then spend it. It's quite another to print / borrow the money then wait for the tax money to roll in: in such a case it is not paid for, it is hoped it will be "paid for". Chucky cites the CBO? Why? The CBO can only work with what they are given: garbage in, garbage out (e.g. Obamacare).

Chucky, why are you going after Indians? Why are you going to raise the cost of doing business for these companies? If, as you maintain, they are abusing the visa process, why don't you stop that, rather than simply impose a tax on such abuse? That's because you don't actually want to stop the abuse (as you see it), the same way you don't REALLY want everyone to stop smoking…

I wish Chucky was so determined to deal with illegal immigration; abuses by people who have no visa and are trespassing. Why not tax them to discourage their behavior Chuck?

RightUnite   August 13th, 2010 - 6:30 am

Of course it won't cost one dollar…. Just like our new health care program… Not one additional dollar… Hehehehe!

Subsalior   August 13th, 2010 - 6:34 am

Looks like the Dems are trying to cover their collective A$$ES for the November elections…..

Ok, Lib/Wack-Jobs, tell us all about it….

Tell us how Barry & Co. are really concerned about the border….I really, really want to hear your some more of your BULL$HIT…

Charmed7   August 13th, 2010 - 6:37 am

They're going after and taxing Asian Indian companies? Isn't that the profiling that is not supposed to be happening? How do they know they came from India if they can't look at their papers?

He doesn't address the much bigger issue of why these companies have to hire people from out of the country while our unemployment rate is so high.

BobbyGG   August 13th, 2010 - 6:37 am

Try and score some brownie points for November. Might be a bit too late.

TexasStomp   August 13th, 2010 - 6:42 am

Did anyone NOTICE how this bill got passed?

As I understand it, this was a SPENDING bill that ORIGINATED in the SENATE???….then went to the House, got tweaked, passed and then when it got sent back to the SENATE…

Why We Should Get It Right, But Won’t”
by Fred Reed

Those who favor immigration tend to hold an idealized view of the newcomers. They are so-o-o-o hardworking! Yes, in the first generation. They just want a better life! So they do. They are just like Italian and Polish immigrants of the last century. No, they are not. They are Mexicans.

Mexico is a third-world country–yes, an upper third-world Latin American country, functioning reasonably well, and not Haiti or Bangladesh. It’s a nice place to live, which is why a half million North Americans are here. Yet Mexico is very, very different from America. If America and England are a few inches apart, Americans and France a few more, Mexico is several feet off in the distance.

While gringos and Mexicans live next to each other here in amity, they do not mix. They can’t. A retired executive from Boeing has nothing in common with a man with a fourth-grade education who will never read a book in his life. Pepe is smiling and amiable while working in the garden. He is also a grown man, not a teddy bear. If the retired engineer met Pepe in Pepe’s favorite bar, the engineer might come to a very different understanding of Pepe.

It is one thing to have Mexicans in America while they still fearful of being deported. They are polite and brown and eager to work. This encourages the tendency to which Americans are prone, to patronize them as just the nicest babysitters and garbage men. Why, they are almost like real people.

It will be a different thing when they are legal and have a voting majority in the Southwest. They understand perfectly that their day is coming. A couple of years back I listened on the radio to a Mexican-American politician from Texas. He pointed out that when the Mexican children now in school reach the age of eighteen, they will control the government of the state.

He was not hostile, did not say as Barack Obama’s minister did, “God damn America.” Yet he saw what was coming, and was well pleased. From the Mexican point of view, they are getting back states which rightly belong to them.

They assuredly are. Shortly the US will have a southern tier of states under Mexican-American control.

The hopeful idea is that they will meld as did the Irish and Italians and Vietnamese. The flaw in this happy ointment is that they do very poorly in school–better than blacks, but well below whites and Asians. This is not a problem of the first generation only, in which case it might eventually cure itself, but of later generations also. It looks innate, or at least as if it will continue. Then what?

Then they will have no choice but to be waiters and garbage collectors. The first generation will tolerate it, happy to be making what seems to them good money. A few will succeed and move up. Most won’t. The second generation, relegated forever to jobs of low pay and less esteem, will become resentful. Inevitably they will see the relegation as indicating discrimination, not incapacity. The young, unable to compete, will gravitate toward others who can’t and we will have another permanent underclass. If you don’t believe me, watch.

The United States advertises itself as a land of opportunity, and in fact is, but only for the bright. A poor kid who pops 1500 on his SATs can get into a good university and come out as anything he chooses. Universities look for such students. A kid who barely reads has no chance. For him, there are no opportunities.

Why is it unlikely that the immigrants will improve scholastically? For reasons a fair few understand but nobody talks about. Intelligence. Mexico consists of three layers, or maybe two layers with a spectrum between. The governing class is white, and at about the European level on IQ tests, not surprising because they are European. You have the mestizos, who do conspicuously less well, and the pure Indians, lower yet. The white upper class is not swimming the river.

IQ is a forbidden topic, but it tracks reality depressingly well. No country below Laredo has ever produced anything important in the sciences. And while in any group there are exceptions, it is the majority who determine social results. This bears thinking about. Reality does not respect politics. Holding one’s breath and turning blue will change nothing. Insisting that something can’t be so or shouldn’t be so doesn’t change whether it is so.

Inequality can be seen in the streets here. In Guadalajara, una ciudad muy guera, a very white city, you have highly sophisticated people who talk of the arts on the radio as intelligently as any in America. They go to the opera, buy in good bookstores, and serve competently as doctors and technicians. In the villages you find people with far more Indian blood and almost no academic achievement or interest. Out in the hills there is, dead serious, a lot of witchcraft.

It’s a different world. And coming to a mall near you.

Excuse me for being cynical but I want to hear “the rest of the story”. This is Chuck Schumer. I can’t remember agreeing with him on anything. EVER. So I will wait before I stand up and applaud until I hear the plain English version from someone I trust.

Ivan_in_Phoenix   August 13th, 2010 - 6:55 am

Once again, they try to placate the voters over illegal immigration right before the election. This will be 3 elections in a row. The first two, they voted to build the fence, only to vote to de-fund it each time shortly after the election. How does that saying go, fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you… What about the third time?

They are calling it a border security bill but it's just another cynical lie with a pretty bow around it. Move along silly knaves, move along, and eat the foul gruel we give to you. November 2nd is right around the corner you bunch of elected a-holes.

NewBlackPamper   August 13th, 2010 - 7:02 am

There's got to be a turd in the punch bowl. I don't trust an immigration bill that this President is willing to sign into law.

skipper99   August 13th, 2010 - 7:13 am

Obama is the "real" Manchurian candidate, as there is no other plausible reason for such an incredibly incompent jackass to be in the Oval office. As for anything Obama signs, it is strictly political, and is always weighted to what benefit Obama can parse words to his advantage. Truth with Obama is a non starter. BS and Glitter, he is covered with it.

Makkem   August 13th, 2010 - 7:13 am

In the meanwhile anchor babies are shooting out like confetti and trucks full of illegals are flying around border territory by the hundreds. Our state forests are Mexican property governed by dope gangs and a mior war has opened up on our side of the border.

Spanky2   August 13th, 2010 - 7:22 am

The libunatics want to implement amnesty for illegal immigrants as part of their "comprehensive immigration reform" package.

They aren't going to risk passing that right before an election because they KNOW the American people oppose amnesty.

It's not real money, it's just government money. That doesn't actually cost anything.

wcinva   August 13th, 2010 - 7:49 am

We have to look under everything we are signing these days for carbon paper and the amnesty provision.

NOsheeples   August 13th, 2010 - 7:57 am

Sickening isn't it. They passed it by phone voting yea.

The progressives see this moment in time as being able to achieve what Woodrow and FDR couldn't do. I am as much to blame as they are, I did not see it coming until about 2 1/2 years ago. Now it is too late to fix all the damage they have done. Our entire government is exactly the opposite of what it was intended to be.

We can vote, but they have proven themselves to be corrupt, so I don't believe the voting system will truly reflect the people. Progressives have invaded both parties, so who really are you voting for? Sad.

ObummerSucks   August 13th, 2010 - 8:01 am

Just another stunt from Obozo and the democRats. There are plenty of things that could be done without more money being spent that these clowns refuse to do. More laws that won't be enforced are meaningless.

Border bill? Riiiiight.

BHO_UMM_UMM_UMM   August 13th, 2010 - 8:05 am

It is campaign time. Promises, promises, totally contradictory to the reality of the actions to date, promises made until November then back to the business of screwing the people as usual, crafting a Marxist authoritarian state, and flooding the country with facilitated illegal and/or legal unrestricted immigration by uneducated Democrat voters to dilute out conservatives and Whites to minority status, whatever it takes to overthrow the Constitution and consolidate power and control at the federal level under one branch of government.

Spanky2   August 13th, 2010 - 8:10 am

They don't even have to print it anymore.

They just change a few bits on a laptop computer somewhere and whooppeee, they have more money to spend socially engineering this country (of which Michelle was not proud until she was 42 y.o.).

The bill has already been paid? Yes. All the bills for the next 20 years should be paid from what this admin and congress are spending.

I had to turn off the sound. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard. All these people spew are lies dipped in a few lines of truth. They want amnesty legislation, just like single payer health care. It's all a means to an end…which when end is defined is, us the American people and this ever sacred country.

I hope it doesnt include Reagan style Amnesty ?

OBAMA IS SUPPORTING MEXICAN CRIMINALS, shielding Black Panther thugs, and aiding Palestinian terrorists, TARGETING AMERICANS HE TOOK AN OATH TO SERVE! He is a Muslim dedicated to rebuilding America under Socialism and with deference to Muslim Law. In order to do this HE MUST CAUSE THE COLLAPSE OF OUR CURRENT GOVERNMENT, family-values, capitalism and freedom.

WHAT BETTER WAY TO BRING AMERICA DOWN THAN TO ALLOW THE BORDER INVASION TO CONTINUE POURING DRUGS, CRIMINALS, MEXICAN GANGS AND MILLIONS OF FREELOADERS INTO AMERICAN SOCIETY?

Invasion From Mexico…
http://usataxpayer.org/htm/vids.asp?A=72670244

We have seen Obama bowing to Islam, abandoning our allies and supporting their enemies, ignoring our security, degrading our military, increasing racial tensions and subjecting American taxpayers to huge, unsustainable debit.

Obama Gives $7.5 BILLION to Pakistan…
Obama Gives $400 Million to Palestinians…
Obama Gives $23 Million to Kenya, for ABORTIONS!

So… Just how stupid are we? Test on November 2nd.

Spanky2   August 13th, 2010 - 8:54 am

Yes, amnesty for illegal immigrants was and always will be wrong.

However, when Reagan did it, amnesty was predicated on the expectation that future politicians would take steps to END illegal immigration, which as we know did not happen.

The numbers of illegals affected by amnesty back was FAR less than the many millions to whom Democrats want to give amnesty now.

For the Democrats Party it's not about what is right or wrong for the USA, but about gaining voters, largely to make up for the millions of potential voters they have aborted over the decades.

kmichaels   August 13th, 2010 - 9:21 am

First off the bill is not paid for.
Look at the retarded logic from
the idiot Schumer. It is only paid
for if companies dont adjust how
they handle certain types of visas.
The companies will make adjustments
practically overnight and then
the bill is simply not paid for.

QUIT LYING DEMOCRATS.

Dave_in_Oregon   August 13th, 2010 - 9:22 am

Is this comparable to sending 1200 National Guard troops to our 2700 mile border?
That is the same 1200 troops who can't even ask an illegal if he has papers?

Just askin

Obama is the ENEMY of AMERICA !

kmichaels   August 13th, 2010 - 9:23 am

This bill was designed specifically
to help democrat friendly companies
compete against Indian based companies
in the USA. It does very little
to change immigration problems.

BHO_UMM_UMM_UMM   August 13th, 2010 - 9:25 am

Liar. You and your fellow jackasses want just that, again, and again, and again. Reagan made deals, in retrosepect unwisely, with liberals and Democrats, failing to apply the same "trust but verify" principle when dealing with America's other enemy, liberals and Democrats, in the cold war within.

leroitroisieme   August 13th, 2010 - 9:26 am

I think that this could work on all politicians. Something like this would put most of them in line. We are already on campaign mode for most of the time anyway.

ed357   August 13th, 2010 - 9:35 am

The FIRST step in Comprehensive Immigration Reform……….

CLOSE THE DAMN BORDERS TO ILLEGALS………..

then we'll talk.

grimreaperxx   August 13th, 2010 - 9:40 am

Here is the deal, you open a business and get staffed with nothing but skilled worker visa exception people. You have a competitive advantage as you pay no FICA or Medicare or state employment taxes for those workers as they are "supposed" to return to country of origin. That makes these workers about 10% cheaper to employ. Many of these jobs are entry level good jobs that our unemployed and untrained US youth would take allowing them to move up the employment ladder. These set ups screw our kids.

Second advantage, People in China, India etc want badly to come to the US, but the quota is filled and requires a huge wait. A business owner can extract a payment, bribe, or what ever you want to call it, if he can provide a job, a visa, and a path to citizenship allowing the worker to come here on a student or skilled worker visa and eventually get a green card and live in the US while he/she goes through the process. Chinese companies have been using this strategy for years. You go in and find out that over 75% of the workforce are on student or skilled worker visas. The firm can demand repayments from their indentured servant employees (slaves) to repay the cost of the job or receive upfront payments to secure the employment.

So these firms often have a real slave workforce and government FICA Medicare and employment tax laws allow them a competitive advantage over our own companies and screw our own young entry level workers.

grimreaperxx   August 13th, 2010 - 9:42 am

1,500 border agents for the "southwest" (err Arizona?). Do you suppose this was some sort of meaningless headline bill to try to take some heat off the disaster for the DEMs that is AZ 1070 and their pursuit of voters that Amnesty will provide. Don't be distracted, keep your eye on the ball.

Unfortunately, this is nothing but a showboat, and like rearranging deckchairs on the sinking ship.
1. The group with the largest increase % in illegal immigration, Asians (principally Indians)
2. Most illegals enter legally on Visas but "over stay" forever
3. legal immigration is at historic levels, it is a clear effort to remake the US for political gain.
4. One out of ever 12 babies born in the United States is the child of illegals.

Why?
Political analysts have concluded that Obama will win in 2012, by pursuing continued huge pluralities among black Asian Hispanic and Jewish voters. Essentially, Obama can lose the white vote 60% to 40% and with the continued 90% and similar pluralities amongst his ethnic voting block. Amnesty will provide a boost for that coalition.

NOQTR4TR8RS   August 13th, 2010 - 9:57 am

In the name of giving credit where credit is due, I applaud those who passed the measure, and the President if he signs it. 1500 more pairs of boots on the border is not a bad thing.

HOWEVER, we could put a million men on the border, and if we continue to tie their hands, and make them play by the invaders' rules, it means less than nothing. When it comes to border security, it is not a legislative problem. It is a EXECUTIVE problem. Enforcing existing laws is what is needed.

Charmed7   August 13th, 2010 - 9:57 am

This will move more of the high tech companies offshore. It's bad enough our system of education can't produce enough people qualified to do the job, they are not punishing companies that try to bring in people that can get the job done. The U.S. citizens that work there will now lose their job too.

Many senators who are up in 2012 are beginning to realize "ah shit, my job's next." Democrats and RINOs are trying to move right, but this is like no other time in our lives. Sane Americans are tuned in. We finally realize how liberal the media is and how much they lie. We have information every day about the Socialists in our government and media. Isn't the ultimate competitive advantage just moving the company to another country with cheaper labor? If it is true that our unemployed and untrained youth could fill these jobs, why isn't that happening? The only thing that seems to happening is that the positions don't get filled and they have to hire from other countries or they move there. Bill Gates has even talked about this problem. We can't seem to educate our own citizens for these types of jobs.

Eileen for Freedom   August 13th, 2010 - 11:18 am

PART I – ‘LAME DUCK' PRESIDENCY FOR THANKSGIVING…GUARANTEED!

America…blanket amnesty is not the answer!

Here is my suggestion and in this order:

1. Do away with the 'anchor' baby law!
2. Seal/secure the borders!
3. Document all illegals in our country!

Eileen for Freedom   August 13th, 2010 - 11:18 am

PART II –

Once that is done…we need to categorize the documented!

1. Felons in prison
2. All felons who were deported and then snuck back in to do crimes again!
3. All single males
4. All single females
5. All families

Eileen for Freedom   August 13th, 2010 - 11:18 am

PART III –

Who is to go first, second, etc.

1. All felons..even those already in prison need to be deported first without consideration because with our borders secured we should not fear them coming back!
2. All felons…that have been deported prior to and then who snuck back in to do more crimes without consideration!
3. All young males
4. All young females
Once we deport all of the above groups, we more closely look at individual families to determine their status!

Eileen for Freedom   August 13th, 2010 - 11:19 am

PART IV –

They all need to be asked several questions to determine their status!

1. How did you come here?
2. Did someone help you come here and what/who are they!
3. Have you been in any trouble since here?
4. Did you bring any children over the border with you?
5. How many children have been born in America?
6. Are you and/or your dependents on entitlements?
7. What are they?
8. How long have you been here?
9. Where do you work? How long have you worked there?

Eileen for Freedom   August 13th, 2010 - 11:19 am

PART V –

Once questions like this have been answered it should enable the authorities to decide who goes and who can stay to consider their path to citizenry. But not until they pay any taxes owed, and/or penalties or fees owed to the government. Then they must get in line before all others already on the list to enter in!

This is just a simple blueprint about how it can be done.
PART VI –
Old saying…"where there is a will there is a way"!

The government knows there is a better way than 'blanket' amnesty…they just don't want to use it…because it would be too fair and remove a voting base they are hoping on buying with citizenship!

But it must be done…it can be done…and it will be done…if I have anything and millions of other 'real' Americans have anything to do with it!

How many tiers of justice do we have in this country? I'm losing count. We have the Rangel tier, the Geithner tier, the Frank and Dodd tier, the Muslim terrorist tier, the union tier, the Waters tier, the La Raza tier, the New Black Panthers tier, the NAACP tier, the ACORN tier. Capitalist want slave labor. They will outsource for that slave labor when they can and when they cannot outsource slave labor they in source slave labor.

Great! That's just enough money to pave the smuggling routes. THANKS OBAMA! You're really representin' with some cojones now!

puck30   August 13th, 2010 - 11:45 am

Freedom_Czar   August 13th, 2010 - 12:38 pm

–What's the matter with you guys in D.C.?

Send the illegals home. Send the foreign companies who hire illegals home as well.

Freedom_Czar   August 13th, 2010 - 12:48 pm

Did this guy really say:

"I say to those companies, 'If you DON'T CHANGE YOUR WAYS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING!"???

WHAT TOTAL DOUBLESPEAK!! KICK THIS GUY TO THE CURB, AND THIS CRAPPY "BORDER BILL" ALONG WITH HIM.

AMERICA, WAKE UP! PUT A STOP TO THIS LUNACY IN D.C.

Tea_Party_Power   August 13th, 2010 - 12:54 pm

Oh Spankme2, You make me laugh.

DarthShatner   August 13th, 2010 - 1:23 pm

Cant argue with that!!!

mackycat   August 13th, 2010 - 1:26 pm

A great deal of our unemployed and untrained youth:

1. are stupid – college educated or not.
2. have no common sense.
3. have a sense of entitlement – they want to start at the top and by all means, they truly believe they should.
4. don't really want to work – they would rather play on their iPhones, weed up, sex up, drink up, or see stupid movies.
5. are stupid – most of them voted for Obama.

Chuck1010   August 13th, 2010 - 3:16 pm

I noticed…I agree with the WTF

Diptera   August 13th, 2010 - 3:25 pm

Any bill agreeable to Comrade MaoBama will be for the benefit of illegals not for citizens and taxpayer of America and won't change my intent to vote the sorry_scum out in Nov. In fact I don't think there is anything at all that will deter the coming flood of sewage being flushed from Washington DC – the EPA should take measures that the sewage treatment facilities around the Wash DC area are able to keep up.

freedom rocks   August 13th, 2010 - 4:02 pm

I have never witnessed in my lifetime a bill sponsored by Chuck Schumer, that was good for America.

TexasStomp   August 13th, 2010 - 4:11 pm

Can ordinary citizens sue the Federal Gov't or apply for REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES or is it only states that can do that?

I sure wish we had some lawyers left in America. They could probably answer that.

I citizens, private or a group can under the Constitution petition the gov't for redress of grievances….then I'm betting there would be more than a few willing to do what states and AGs ARE TO CHICKEN SHIT TO DO.

Someone better start holding congress accountable.

Who cares who gets elected in Nov if congress isn't gonna play by the rules anymore….

.AND TWO DAM SENATORS PASSING A SPENDING BILL IS NOT BY THE RULES….IT'S A PARLIAMENTARY SNEAKING AND FUDGIN AND I'M GETTING SICK OF THIS! NOT ONE SENATOR OBJECTED IN PUBLIC ABOUT THIS BILL PASSING WITH TWO GUYS IN THE BUILDING. NOT ONE.

joymc   August 13th, 2010 - 4:56 pm

hope & change.

joymc   August 13th, 2010 - 5:00 pm

Actually something would have gotten done. Had the American people not been so pesky about the whole illegal immigration thing Barry would have already declared mass amnesty, given a forclosed house to each illegal alien family, a free college education to each illegal kid, and then a government job with benes and retirement. You and me? we would be standing there looking all patriotic and stupid and paying for it all.

joymc   August 13th, 2010 - 5:03 pm

Barry is cogitating up a way to just simply do it by edict. Like the DICtator he is.

wcinva   August 13th, 2010 - 5:19 pm

I hate to break it to you, but alot of Democrats are capitalist too.

RetiredSailor1   August 13th, 2010 - 5:24 pm

You mean those Blue Dog DINOS?

BHO_UMM_UMM_UMM   August 13th, 2010 - 7:34 pm

Poopeye the Sailor1 is having trouble assembling his thoughts today. I think his oxygen tank ran out.

leslie_gaea   August 13th, 2010 - 8:25 pm

This is another scam like Boeings virtual fence and Bill CLinton's ISIS. It does little to seal the border. A fence is the only way to effectively stop overland illegals as proven in Yuma and San Diego. Smoke and mirrors. We will spend 600 billion in Iraq to secure that country and 600 million to secure the southern border.
