“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

TDC comment:
This statement above is categorically the epitome of racism. Why is Ms. Sotomayor stereotyping and assuming that white male judges can not render fair and just judgments and that the cases presented before a supreme court justice will inevitably involve experiences solely reserved for a Latina woman? The nomination of a United States supreme court justice should involve an individual’s qualifications and character, not ethnic background or other divisive considerations.

Hickok   July 14th, 2009 - 11:54 am

Typical libfart answer. “I was using a rhetorical flourish that fell flat.” Flourish this, beaner babe. They all say “I was joking”, but this jumping bean decided against that worn out excuse. So now it’s a rhetorical freakin flourish. She would be better served knocking on your door at a Holiday Inn Express screaming “Housekeeeeeping.”
See the link below to see a pic of her when she was an advertising model 20 years ago.

G. Washington   July 14th, 2009 - 11:58 am

She is flat out lying. She does believe that her “life experience” trumps the law. It is clear in most all of her rulings. There is no reason that a judge that has so many of her decisions go on to the SCOTUS where 60% of them are overturned should ever be on the Supreme Court.

Give Me A Break   July 14th, 2009 - 12:00 pm

LOL,That they would send Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III a true son of the old south.Who is an old school racist and an original gangster Republican US Attorney to be some attack dog on racism.

Sotomayor WILL be confirmed because she has the votes.
Old racist Session just mad because he got turned down for a federal judgeship.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_BVAoxvylo

jason   July 14th, 2009 - 12:03 pm

Huh, you mean people of color can be racists too?
Wow, we learn something every day.

See our site for more.

Chris   July 14th, 2009 - 12:08 pm

I can’t even listen to what she’s saying. I can’t get over the fact that her face looks like it was lit on fire and put out with a pair of cleats.

PhoneBill   July 14th, 2009 - 12:12 pm

Give Me A Break, let me see if I can get this right ; you feel that Sessions is a racist, I understand that, but what I don’t understand is the following:

Do you think it’s okay to be a racist (especially in a position of power and influence)? You either oppose racism and therefore oppose this nominee, or you support racism and have no problem with Sessions. Which is it?

jktnyc   July 14th, 2009 - 12:30 pm

Give me a break she is as racist as they come. Why not inspire all young people to be the best they can be, why just limit it to hispanics…..why does she say white judges can’t make a decision? one word RACISM, she proved it when she made her decision in the New Haven Firefighter case.

Hickok   July 14th, 2009 - 12:34 pm

“A rhetorical flourish.” That’s double speak for “I meant what I said,(7 times, by the way, libfarts)but now I need to bullsh*t you honkies so I can get confirmed.”

Give me a break -let me get this straight.

It’s “horrible” for white people to be racist, but its perfectly acceptable for people of color to be racist? Thought so, and you fit right in with the liberal way of thinking. Hypocricy at its finest!

Dave   July 14th, 2009 - 1:50 pm

Blah Blah, all of the crap out of this womans mouth has been well rehearsed for weeks regarding that “wise Latina” statement and has absolutely no value.
We all know that there’s a double standard when it comes to holding people accountable for their statements, but could someone, anyone tell me why there is a double standard regarding what a Caucasian can say(and get away with) and what a non-Caucasian can say and get away with?
Why does the standard exist, who put it in our lexicon and what purpose does it serve?

Give Me A Break   July 14th, 2009 - 1:54 pm

Didn’t she also say?”When a case comes before me involving, let’s say, someone who is an immigrant – and we get an awful lot of immigration cases and naturalization cases – I can’t help but think of my own ancestors, because it wasn’t that long ago when they were in that position… When I get a case about discrimination, I have to think about people in my own family who suffered discrimination because of their ethnic background or because of religion or because of gender. And I do take that into account.

For Shame,For Shame-oops my bad that was Samuel Alito.

We know that George H.W.nominated her to the Court of Appeals and he said
” I have followed this man’s career for some time, and he has excelled in everything that he has attempted. He is a delightful and warm, intelligent person who has great EMPATHY” Sorry he was talking Clarence Thomas who also said his background would make him a better judge.
The racism you see in her maybe your owe.
The Republicans need to be really careful about being seen as demonizing this women.Out of the eight states that changed from Bush to Obama, in 2008 four of them went to Obama because of the Hispanic votes.I say to you again, she WILL be confirmed because she has the votes, live with it.

Norm   July 14th, 2009 - 2:37 pm

Yes,she used a rhetorical flourish then, she used a rhetorical flourish on Sen Sessions and she uses a rhetorical flourish on all of us every time she opens her mouth.

This is her definition of a “rhetorical flourish”

Other   July 14th, 2009 - 2:39 pm

Its bigoted but not racist.
Hispanic isn’t a race.

glory   July 14th, 2009 - 2:49 pm

give me a break… To most of the libs, if not all of them, it’s the height of racism for Republicans to oppose the Supreme Court nomination of pro-abort Catholic Sotomayor. But few remember the Dems’ lynching of the first prominent Latino named to a high judicial post-a pro-life Catholic, Miguel Estrada. Remember him??? Didn’t think so.

Each day it gets more difficult to deal with the hypocrisy of all you bleeding heart libs. If the rest of us don’t agree with everything you want, say, do, think we’re all hateful, ignorant, and racist. I’m truly starting to despise not only your messiah, but all the lemmings who continue to follow him over the cliff, while our country sinks further and further into a socialist hell.

kmichaels   July 14th, 2009 - 3:55 pm

In other words shtfaced troll “give me a break” is thinking that Alito saying he can sympathize with immigrants is the same as Sotomayer being a racist. God, I knew liberals were pathetically stupid but boy, do they have to be nothing but stupid all of the time?

TruthTeller   July 14th, 2009 - 4:33 pm

Yes, Senator. Forget everything I’ve said and everything I’ve done before now.

Forget that I’ve been overturned many times by the very Supreme Court upon which I hope to serve.

Forget that I openly admitted, on camera that I make public policy in the courtroom.

Forget that I publicly admitted I am a racist, favoring Latina women.

ONLY listen to what I say now. What I say now is all that’s relevant.
ONLY listen to what I say now. What I say now is all that’s relevant.
ONLY listen to what I say now. What I say now is all that’s relevant.

Sotobigot   July 14th, 2009 - 6:00 pm

A 60% reversal rate for Sotobigot at the Supreme Court level. That is not a very good job reference. If you had only a 40% success rate on your job application you would be laughed out of town.
That is unless you were applying for a civil service job with the gov’t. In that case it is probably above average. It is above average for most of the gang of 535 in congress.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   July 14th, 2009 - 7:15 pm

America…in addition to calling your Senators daily about cap & trade and healthcare (amongst other damming legislation)…call daily the Judicial Committee and tell them to probe this nominee thoroughly!

Get the gloves out and let’s find out who she really is and what she stands for…because what she says under oath and what she says in public are two different things!

America…no nominee that comes from Bilderberg Bush-Obama is a good one! He has alterior motives in getting them confirmed…they are to become his henchmen to get the Bilderberg agenda to destroy American from within!

1. usa.gov
2. at top – site index
3. at left – fed gov
4. in middle – pick judicial to get to the judicial committee
pick legislative to get your House reps and Senators

Remember, also, America…very important to tell them to support Ron Paul’s HR 1207 that will “require” an official audit of the non-governmental Federal Reserve, the financial arm of the Bilderberg!

And tell them to ask old Bilderberg Paulson what the Fed did with the missing $70 million or billion of the bailout monies!

He stood there and said he didn’t know! He didn’t know, America? How could you misplace over $70 million or billion!

The Federal Reserve answers to no one…not the President…not the Congress…not the people…only the Bilderberg Society!

This has to be contained and stopped. We need to dissolve this agency and give the authority over our money back to the people where the founding fathers intended it to be!

CALL TODAY AND EVERY DAY AMERICA…AND NOT THE GENERAL NUMBER. YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING THROUGH WHEN CALLING THEIR WASHINGTON AND/OR THEIR LOCAL OFFICES WITH YOUR THOUGHTS – WE MUST GET IT DONE – WASHINGTON ISN’T DOING IT!

Davidtoo   July 14th, 2009 - 7:28 pm

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

It is, at its core, a racist statement.
Furthermore, if latina women are so bright, judicial, and creative, why is it that they have not created a magnificent country where they stand or in some other part of the world? Why is it that they have not written a Constitution similar in scope and breadth as that of the United States of America? Why is it that these creative latina women have not written and implemented a Bill of Rights?

Please. Her racist comments were intended to demean white males – white males whose genius have created a spectacular country, empowering not only white people, but black people, asians, and even latina women.

Why would ANYBODY demean a group which has provided so much for so many?

Is this “wise latina woman” STUPID or just DUMB?
!!!!

Uh-uh   July 14th, 2009 - 11:26 pm

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American public. Obviously, our enemies don’t.

BJC   July 15th, 2009 - 3:17 am

Session’s isn’t being confirmed to be a Supreme Court Justice. Don’t show your ignorance.

Hickok   July 15th, 2009 - 7:00 am

Sessions is an old-fashioned Southern racist. There is a reason he is a Senator instead of a federal judge-his own party rejected his nomination in 1986 because of racist statements he had made-calling a black attorney "boy" and telling
another to be "careful" about how he talked to white people. Even his own party couldn’t stomach appointing him to the bench. His nomination never made it out of committee.

Sessions also called the NAACP and ACLU un-American and Communist inspired because they supported civil rights. Sessions accusing Sotomayor of racism and bias is rich considering his life-long history of racist comments. Sessions couldn’t attack Sotomayor’s record for bias, because there isn’t any, so he attacks her for a few remarks she has
made.

I’m surprised Sessions doesn’t fly the Confederate flag because that is who he represents-the remnants of the Antebellum South that still believes in segregation and white supremacy.

JohnBen   July 15th, 2009 - 8:32 am

That’s right Hickok, use the last resort of a lost argument…the good ol’ ad hominum argument. If you can’t win the argument by logic and reason, attack the individual with lies. I say YOU are a racist for assuming that anyone from Alabama is a racist. To a reasonable mind, that is your total “argument”. Why don’t you just say “nanny-nanny poo-poo”?

Hickok   July 15th, 2009 - 8:36 am

JohnBen,
That was Dr. MaryFatA$$ acting like an 8 year old, using my name. She is so stupid she didn’t think folks here would notice that she’s the only one here who posts in bold letters.

JohnBen   July 15th, 2009 - 9:06 am

Thank you! It’s nice to know that such a wonderful name as “Hickok” has not been sullied after all. Are you certain the good Doctor is acting?

Hickok   July 15th, 2009 - 11:36 am

JohnBen,
The good doctor? There ain’t nothing good bout her. Indeed, I noticed the attempt at using meaningful multisyllabic words to cover her ignorance, and the caps gave it all away. I do give her a hard time whenever possible, so….

Kevin   July 15th, 2009 - 12:53 pm

Mark Levin said it best. “So we’re supposed to focus on her name and genitalia?”
