It’s not just reconciliation that won’t work for ObamaCare.

NOTHING will work if it is forced on us.

Tom   February 28th, 2010 - 3:17 pm

Well Kent…tell it like it is…obozocare won’t work either…..

Cheap tricks and abuse of power never really work.
However, it wont stop leftists that are used to
abusing power and employing force and abuse
to pass more socialism, which is always their
magical solution to everything.

-Welfare Reform (1996) passed by republicans through RECONCILIATION.

-Tax Cuts (2001) passed by republicans through RECONCILIATION.

-Tax Cuts (2003) passed by republicans through RECONCILIATION.

-Children’s Health Insurance Program (1997)passed through RECONCILIATION.

-The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) (1985) passed through RECONCILIATION.

Reconciliation whining is nothing more than a talking point used as a red herring to keep the rethugs from admitting they want to KILL any kind of healthcare reform because they are heavily supported by the insurance lobby. The rethug whining doesn’t even have anything to do with what “America” says, it’s about where their campaign money comes from.

Are they getting WeWeed UP? Are they wetting the bed? Are they crying Uncle? Are they quitting? Are they saying I GIVE? Are they Pelosied out?
Are they walking it back? Are they smelling the coffee? Are they getting the message? Are they doing an Italian charge? Are they putting it in reverse? Are they calling it quits? Are they knocking it off? Are they cutting the switch?

Can we go home now, for real?

ellie   February 28th, 2010 - 4:39 pm

WHATWHATWHAT– You lose.

Welfare reform –Clinton “crowning achievement” even though he fought it with 2 vetoes; it CUT spending, not created a huge new entitlement
Tax cuts– reconciliation was intended for fiscal issues such as this.
SCHIP — passed with bipartisan support from democratsCOBRA — fiscal issues in crunch time to keep government fxnl, not an optional huge entitlement that takes up 1/6 of US economy.

Robert Byrd D-WV, Klansman, invented reconciliation(to fight civil rights and integration!) and even he says it should not be used for this. 58% of American don’t want this, and does not have the consent of the governed. You lose.

Dave, Tn   February 28th, 2010 - 5:08 pm

The Byrd Rule mmmmm mmm mmm You know what that means. They’ll pass a new law that says old laws die with their creators and then push the old klansman down the stairs.

ArizonaHoss   February 28th, 2010 - 6:03 pm

Herehere! It should have never been designed in the first place. I think it’s unconstitutional. It always drives me crazy when people (Dems AND Repubs) justify terrible behavior by pointing at terrible behavior that took place in the past.

“Well, the Repubs used it this many times in the past.”

Yeah. Who cares? It’s still wrong.

America will not tolerate Tyranny!

If the Progressives in the Democrat Party impose their plan by using the Nuclear Option (a.k.a., reconciliation) not only they will be toast but the entire Democrat Party.

Oh Boy we went from a Democracy to a Tyranny in less than two years…

…..HOW IS THAT CHANGE GOING FOR YOU?

No one is talking about this yet, but the next big explosion in the economy is coming thanks to the “credit card reforms” of our dear leader. I have received my first statement since the change and my interest rate went up 20% after years of a stable rate. My minimum payment went up 50%. People who are in trouble with their debt are going to implode in the next few months. Thank you, Dummycrats!

Finally, some common sense coming from Kent Conrad. Not that he finally realizes that Obama is a LOSER or that he actually wants to get reelected or anything right? ;) SURE, it’s WRONG! I commend Conrad for at least having the gumption to say it to the American people on live TV though. IT WON’T WORK!!

It is a LOSE LOSE situation for the Democrats if you ask me. If they go against the WILL of the American people and try to pass this monstrosity through reconciliation they will LOSE BIG TIME in November, even if it passes. If it doesn’t pass through reconciliation they will LOSE BIG TIME in November too because the American people will be mad as HELL that they tried to use reconciliation in the first place when knowing full well that the vast majority of Americans DON’T WANT IT!!

thefedupamerican   February 28th, 2010 - 8:50 pm

Do the Dems really realize they force this down the throats of Americans? Or is this another smoke screen for us to focus on while they do whatever they please behind our backs? http://www.thefedupamerican.com

Declare bankruptcy and 18 months later you’ll have so many credit card offers, you won’t know what to do with them. Screw the credit card companies!

Poison pill number one on the Democratic Deathmarch is the Stupak Amendment.

Support the Stupak Amendment…..NO taxpayer funded abortions. If it isn’t the deathblow in the House it does great damage to the bill and will cost Democrats time.

Texans…Opt out of ObamaCare…vote Medina on Tuesday!
Remember, between Perry & Huchinson, they have 50+ in politics…they are a big part of what got us into this catastrophe.
Perry: former campaign manager in Texas for Al Gore, an active participant to the largets expansion of the state budget in the history of Texas.
Huchison: best buddy with Bush, 16+ years in Washington, an active participant to the largest expansion of the federal government in the history of the USA.

FastFacts   March 1st, 2010 - 6:41 am

Reconciliation is all about the budget and Obamacare is not a budgetary item. They can not pass it on a budgetary voting process. That is why it was said there would be a long amendment process because everything that is not a budgetary item.

This is one of the only things I have been on Sen. Conrad’s side. He is right, reconciliation would not work on the bill, they would have to rip and tear it apart. The Rep Blackburn was right also, it should not be used at all because America does not want this and the process would be a destruction of the reconciliation process.

None of the things triple nut case whatwhatwhat were passed by reconciliation. Their budges, after they were passed through normal means, were adjusted through reconciliation, which is what it was designed for.

Whatwhatwhat is simply doing what he does best, besides drooling and frothing.
HE IS LYING.

The tax cuts were not new bills, but part of previously passed budgets. One of them (what dumbass whatwhatwhat is calling a new bill, for example is shown here in detail. Notice the actual name, RECONCILIATION built into it. This was done in complete accord with the intent of Reconciliation, invented by Democrats (Byrd). Notice also that this is a bill “pursuant to section 104″ of a previously passed budget.

Triple nut case is simply a lying leftist troll hired by Huffingglue post.

Whatwhatwhat   March 1st, 2010 - 7:04 pm

I am absolutely correct. ALL of those bills passed under RECONCILIATION. The reich-wing conservo-Rethug liars are just making excuses. Your rethug politicians know full well they’ve used reconciliation.

If you want to be honest why don’t you just stand on your reich-wing, insurance lobby prostituted “principles” and admit you want NO healthcare reform of any kind. Tell the people you want to kill healthcare reform at all costs and that “we need to start over” BS is a delaying tactic in hopes you win enough seats to kill it and keep it dead.

Tell the truth and stop the lies…if you dare.
