Schumer: Three Branches of Gov’t Are House, Senate and White House

Um, Senator Schumer... the House and Senate are both part of the same branch of government: the Legislative Branch.

Oh, and by the way... you sit on the Senate Committee that oversees the third branch: The Judiciary.

"WATERBOARDING LIBS BEFORE IT WAS COOL!"

AquaBudda   January 31st, 2011 - 10:01 am

Bush thought all three were the White House.

Const_Libertarian   January 31st, 2011 - 10:02 am

Executive, the Senate and the House.

Yeah, that's the ticket

These imbeciles do not even know the basics of our own government and we are supposed to TRUST them to spend OUR LABOR wisely.
Time to DEFUND EVERYTHING House, because you are the Third Branch of government according to this DUFUS. Derrrrrrrrrr.

ewfuller   January 31st, 2011 - 10:03 am

His eloquence about the three branches of government does nothing to instill confidence in his dire forecasts of doom and gloom.

Senator Schumer, if you can't get the basic fact of what three branches of government we have, then you shouldn't be pretending to be an expert on the "credit markets" or, as he said right at the end, "paying the debt ceiling."

ratfinder   January 31st, 2011 - 10:07 am

I would hate to see what would have happened if Sarah Palin would have made that mistake.

HookedOnObonics   January 31st, 2011 - 10:08 am

Let me get this straight…If the Repubs don't budge, it would be there fault, but at the same time, aren't the Dems not budging either? Chucky, ain't nobody buying it this time.

Oh, and imaging if Sarah Palin made that three branches comment…It would be programming for AMESSNBC for the rest of the week.

AquaBudda   January 31st, 2011 - 10:09 am

More Breitbart BS. did you guys miss the pause between
WE HAVE THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT.
and
the discussion about the House, Senate and Presidency

More desperation from the right to try and make a Dem look worse than Michelle Bachman and Bible Spice.

ratfinder   January 31st, 2011 - 10:09 am

Yeah and so does Obama, except Obama makes the idiot Democrat Sen. and Congress do all his dirty work…. and you know whats funny, they do…

AquaBudda   January 31st, 2011 - 10:10 am

I want to hear Michelle Bachman or carribou barbie discuss the three branches ….LOL LOL

Frisco1522   January 31st, 2011 - 10:18 am

Attaboy Chuckie. Flaunt your superior intelligence as if it's a virtue.

AquaBudda   January 31st, 2011 - 10:22 am

But we all know that Bible spice is a blithering idiot.
Shumer's comment was just spun by PR losers in the Republican organization to try and take the focus off your two dimwit women front runners for the GOP nomination. None other than Andy Breitbart who has ZERO credibility and should be selling used cars in some red state somewhere.

GUNNYG   January 31st, 2011 - 10:25 am

How's your boy Obammy's call to STOP drilling working NOW as he loses Egypt to the West.

DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Stupid fvcking libtards like yourself will be paying 10 bucks a gallon soon. Enjoy unemployment moron.

antilibtards   January 31st, 2011 - 10:30 am

DEMOCRAT MORON. A reflection of the democrat voters. Just like the pseudo intellectual Obama. What morons.

Marco_Malo   January 31st, 2011 - 10:31 am

Whoa. Do you realize that this guy was mentioned as a possible Senate Majority Leader when it looked like dingy harry was in doubt for reelection? If a notable conservative said such, this would be trumpeted until hell froze over in the msm.

This clown was also the brainiac who ceaselessly attacked Bush over high gas prices. Where is his outrage now?

rfb10   January 31st, 2011 - 10:31 am

Funny how some can't make their point in one statement, they just ramble on and on.. Liberals tend to do that.. How is NY doing fiscally Chuckles? Bet you want some money from the WH to bail out that state of yours.. NY you get what you deserve by continually voting in people who are fiscally inept.

scandimom   January 31st, 2011 - 10:31 am

This would be the same Schumer who calls women "bitches".

LostinOregon   January 31st, 2011 - 10:31 am

What a stupid, arrogant fool!

chicagomatt   January 31st, 2011 - 10:31 am

did you miss the answer that Schumer gave?….and what answer would Palin or Bachmann give? the correct one. only liberals are Chucky Schumer stupid.

rogue operator   January 31st, 2011 - 10:34 am

Got to love the civics education our children are getting. Maybe if Chucky and his pals appropriate a few hundred billion more dollars for public education, they could get the three branches of government straight too.

Thinker822   January 31st, 2011 - 10:34 am

OMG he can't be serious? If he can't understand the basic structure of our government than whats this jackass doing in our government. Seriously, my kids know the 3 branches of government in the US. If we can't trim our spending to a manageable level then we need to shut down our government until the government FEELS the pain of sacrifice…the people of the US have sacrificed enough for social welfare policies here and abroad.

LuKuj   January 31st, 2011 - 10:35 am

The fourth and fifth graders I taught for 30 years could answer that question with half their brains tied behind their backs, but then this guy probably only has half a brain. The other half has been turned to mush by his liberal ideas.

WhiteGuy2   January 31st, 2011 - 10:36 am

Just imagine if Sarah Palin had said this.,…the left wing mockery would be endless……….

antilibtards   January 31st, 2011 - 10:37 am

Always take the time to expose the Democrat voting Unions,
they are the Brownshirts of the Party, they have broke glass, keyed cars, attacked in mob froce.
Their goal is a commie or Hilter style President

antilibtards   January 31st, 2011 - 10:41 am

Schumer is almost as stupid as obama, reid and peelosi. Democrats don't understand our Constitution and don't care to. They should be voted out of office asap.

DarthShatner   January 31st, 2011 - 10:43 am

I want to hear Obama discuss the virtues of rugged individualism, the free market, and limited government.

MrASW   January 31st, 2011 - 10:44 am

"WATERBOARDING LIBS BEFORE IT WAS COOL!" Excellent!

bobbdobbs   January 31st, 2011 - 10:44 am

MrASW   January 31st, 2011 - 10:46 am

Hugebrass   January 31st, 2011 - 10:47 am

MrASW   January 31st, 2011 - 10:48 am

obam-bam has to be the stupidest person on the planet. He can't even prove he went to college, grade school, anything. AQ, how many states does the pretender think there are? Your messiah is one dumb ugly traitor.

MrASW   January 31st, 2011 - 10:49 am

Dems can make themselves look bad all by themselves, they always do.

Thinker822   January 31st, 2011 - 10:49 am

Kids today aren't taught US history as we obviously were. I've have to constantly correct social studies teachers over the years. I've even given books to teachers to offer factual viewpoints other than the politically correct crap they are feeding teaching. Kids are pummeled (at least here in Arizona) through grade school and even the first year of high school with Mesoamerican and South-American history…as if the Aztec and Incas really made an impact on earth or its people? It wasn't until 8th grade that I literally had to re-teach my child the civil war, why it was fought, and how she can help the history teach actually understand what her degree suggested she was proficient at. Luckily I have a fair library of history texts I enjoy reading. Otherwise it would be very difficult to identify the inflection of liberalized history which distorts factual events to favor their perspective.

MrASW   January 31st, 2011 - 10:49 am

Sadly, it probably is.

Hugebrass   January 31st, 2011 - 10:51 am

Nice try, but FAIL. Actually, your statement would mean that you're concurring with Chuck Schumer. Maybe you should re-write this sentence.

In fact, while we're at it, your homework assignment is to read the first 100 pages of Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny” tonight. So sit up straight, but your feet in, spit out your gum and get to work.

povertypimpin   January 31st, 2011 - 10:51 am

Ha ha. This isn't a slip of the tongue either. It's not like saying Iraq when you meant to say Iran. What a schmuck!

William_Z   January 31st, 2011 - 10:51 am

Yes, Schumer’s a senator, but remember, it was Democrats who didn't want the Constitution read from the floor of the House.

I suggest a law that at the beginning of every session of Congress that good ‘ol founding document gets a good, loud reading.

Bilwood   January 31st, 2011 - 10:53 am

I know for a fact he didn't. Believe me, if anyone with an "R" after their name, especially Bush, would have said this the press would never have let it go (20-years later, Quayle is still known for having mispelled "potato"). I'm sure Schumer knows the three branches of government and probably just misspoke, but the point here is he gets a complete pass that no republican would. Your idiotic comment smearing President Bush in response to an article about a democrat senator's gaffe is proof of this.

MusicCityDawg   January 31st, 2011 - 10:56 am

And if John Boehner had said that, it would be the top headline on all the networks plus The NY Times, The Washington Post, and Time magazine…. and his qualifications to serve in Congress would be vigorously debated Meet the Press as well.

jackcandont   January 31st, 2011 - 10:56 am

Shumer is a talking sack of pus!! oh ya, an lying ignorant talking sack of pus!!

willeckyecky   January 31st, 2011 - 10:57 am

lol way to make yourself bias. Now ask yourself if Bush had said that same thing in the same way what would your response had been?

And also note the emphasis. 3 branches of goverment, then he list the Presidency, House, and Senate, and how all 3 will have to work together. Unless you're a complete hack you've GOT to get that he made a huge mistake.

You're grasping Aqua

DarthShatner   January 31st, 2011 - 10:58 am

Lead us to the foam alter of Obama.

It will be OK though… there is a free concert before the indoctrination and everyone who attends gets a t-shirt displaying a catchy collectivist quote.

HeReturnsSoon   January 31st, 2011 - 11:00 am

Maybe we need four branches since we now have 57 states.

StymieWTF   January 31st, 2011 - 11:00 am

Liberal logic, who needs laws when we are smarter than the law.

metamarcisf   January 31st, 2011 - 11:01 am

That guy? wow

EyeToEye   January 31st, 2011 - 11:27 am

BIG problem in today's world in all aspects of business, life, etc.

NO ONE REALLY knows what they are doing or what the real facts and rules are.

Plus these politicians are all playing a deal game now and really do not have the country's BEST interests at heart.

NYresident   January 31st, 2011 - 11:28 am

Can you imagine is Sarah Palin had said that? (it would occupy 3 or 4 days worth of news, and be featured in a Saturday Night Live opening skit.

fulljump   January 31st, 2011 - 11:29 am

How odd Senator Schumer member of The Judiciary Committee and on several Judiciary sub committees does not know the 3rd branch.

Is that part of the 57 states (or was it 57 with 2 more to go and one he was going to skip?) At least she knows the meaning of Veteran's Day, and that American Presidents do NOT bow to other countries leaders, and the Declaration of Independence. and that the Coast Guard is not part of the military, and that the Russians freed Auschwitz (she can see them from her house.. right metafool?) Oh yeah, and that the Rev Wright runs a hate filled "church" and the Bill Ayers is a terrorist. …..Did you know all this Metafool? Obummer doesn't!

Always ends up with people like you talking about Bush and Palin….FAIL AGAIN METAFFOOL.

This is what democrats elect to be a US Senator.? WTF over.

DontTreadOnMe   January 31st, 2011 - 11:37 am

I'm sorry, but NO, this is not the best we had to offer. (Since when are elections based on MERIT?) Schumer was challenged by Gary Berntsen, who would have been an infinitely more competent Senator, but who lost the primary to Jay Townsend, who then lost the election to Schumer.

Schumer is an embarrassment, and I want a recall.

NYresident   January 31st, 2011 - 11:37 am

And the statement that "shutting down the government" would make credit holders/buyers more skittish is pretty ridiculous! If you show that you are making an attempt to reign in out of control spending by not spending until you have the money, that will improve the view of the US in the global markets. This guy is a total moron!

Bullonay   January 31st, 2011 - 11:37 am

Chuckie really needs to get a clue…he's been in Washington for 30 years, he should be sent packing…
