SC Sen. Graham Faces Libertarian Jeers During ‘Fiery’ Speech at State GOP Convention

"Ron Paul is not the leader of this party."

CNN: A combative Lindsey Graham got into a sharp back-and-forth with some audience members at the South Carolina GOP convention on Saturday as he made the case for an open-tent Republican party. According to The State newspaper and video posted on YouTube, the South Carolina senator told the convention he wants to build a party that can compete in Pennsylvania and Connecticut as well as in his home state. “You’re a hypocrite!,” one man in the audience yelled. “I’m a winner, pal,” Graham retorted. Moments later, after saying he wants to the party to reach out to independent voters, he said: “Winning matters to me. If it doesn’t matter to you, there’s the exit sign.”

America conservatives…all of us…who have left to be libertarians and/or independents…we need to unite to fight the moderates and the left!

The moderates in the Republican party have lost election after election for us…due to the fact that they are “fence sitters”!

They go from one side to the other depending on how they feel.

Just recently (3) moderates…Spector, Snowe and Collins were the (3) votes that sided with the Democratzi in saddling our great nation and our children and grandchildren’s future by passing the bloated stimulus bill!

That is where the danger is American Conservatives…moderates are not loyal to the conservative ideas and values.

We need to unite the Republican party for the conservatives and rid it of all moderates by voting them out…or we need to start a new party that will encompass all conservatives in a battle to take America back to our roots!

=====================

GOD BLESS AMERICA…THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE…MAY OUR CHRISTIAN GOD IN OUR CHRISTIAN NATION BLESS OUR GREAT NATION AS WE ASK HIS FORGIVENESS FOR THROWING HIM OUT OF OUR SCHOOLS AND OUT OF OUR LIVES!

We ARE going somewhere else which is why Republicans are losing! Who are we bombing? Saudi Arabia?

This mincing fool is a century too late. He might have gotten away with these logical fallacies before but now we have the Internet and we know this guy is full of it. I saw this on Mike Rivero’s blog – What Really Happened – before I even saw it here. He scoops just about everyone and his radio show is the best. Turn away from the Military Industrial Complex mouthpieces. Seek out real conservatives.

There are more clips of this – in another he cites Ronald Reagan (like every other fake neocon) not saying anything bad about fellow Republicans, then goes on to bash Ron Paul.

RogerCfromSD   May 17th, 2009 - 11:25 pm

Girly-name Graham is THE poster boy for RINOs.

EJECT HIM from the Party!

He is useless and even subversive. An agent provocateur for the Dems.

Magyarfrau   May 17th, 2009 - 11:45 pm

If I recall correctly, Mr. G raham has voted against and not supported basic Conservative ideals of late. Even his voice sounds insincere. To me he is a career politician and has been in DC too long. Term limits are a must. These people forget who elected them into office. They owe their souls to lobbyists and therefore cannot even utter a truthful sentence. If the Repubs don’t get it together , I think people will demand a 3rd party. And by the way– what is the deal with Catholic bishops in America?? They talk a good talk but don’t follow through– Obama at Notre Dame is an embarassment–apparently only the laity takes their religion seriously.

Bob   May 18th, 2009 - 12:12 am

Catholic bishops in America are not very good at defending Christs teachings versus political correctness. What they excell at when all else fails, is, a secound collection.

Lindsey…sweetie

You and McCain are the dinosaurs who haven’t a snowballs chance in hell fitting in to the narrow rigid 20 percenters.
No aging actresses allowed, follow Arlen over to the Democrats.

Seems to me that a majority of the “heckling” in this video is coming from the guy holding the camera and presumably his wife standing next to him.

In any event, I am all in favor of these guys taking a larger yank to the right. They keep talking like this and they’ll be able to hold rallies in the back seat of a Mini Cooper.

Bitter EX democrackkk   May 18th, 2009 - 6:23 am

Sen. Graham, if you really want the SCGOP to embrace Independents, then you had BETTER embrace Dr. Ron Paul, whose message across America is faring MUCH better than your own! You have become a classic RINO, and the people dont like it! STRIVE to be SMARTER than the democrat party of SLAVERY wants you to be!

whooooeee   May 18th, 2009 - 8:25 am

Dead giveaway: “…there’s the exit sign.”

When they start telling you to exit the “room”, the “party”, the “country”, your “life” – They’re a Dembo in sheep’s clothing.

Stan   May 18th, 2009 - 8:47 am

The Paulbots with their slavish devotion to their tinfoil hat wearing leader are the real risks to the GOP.

Billo   May 18th, 2009 - 9:59 am

Wait, let me get this straight. Lindsey Graham just said that Ron Paul is NOT the leader of the republican party? Isn’t that what they just said about Rush? Did you just equate Ron Paul with Rush?

Last year, Ron Paul was inconsequential, and was a non-factor, now you have to PUBLICLY state that he is not the leader of the Republican party?

What a joke… Republicans == EPIC FAIL

Ron Paul / Rush Limbaugh 2012 !!!

“We’re gonna BOMB Iraq! Then we’re gonna BOMB Afghanistan, Then we’re gonna BOMB Pakistan, and THEN we’re gonna BOMB IRAN! And then we’re gonna BOMB the DEMOCRATS! Yeahahahrarhharhahrahrah!”

You just lost a whole lot of Republican support that you so desperately need.

R-tard.

Article I Section 8 of my little pocket Constitution says otherwise Lindesy: Only CONGRESS has the power to wage war.

That means not the President, not the Vice-President, and not the Media.

The Constitution does not grant the U.S. Government the power to go to war, just because a few people feel like it.

Congress MUST declare it.

But that hasn’t happened since WWII, and sadly, will probably never occur again. Not when we have the Grand Ole Party saying that we can go to war with whoever, whenever, and wherever we wish, simply because the President and/or Media wish it.

And Next: Listen to Lindsey talk about the 2nd Amendment, and how we need to protect our Constitutional rights to have and bear firearms.

Politicians only talk about the Constitution when it fits their own special self-interest.

/sigh

RonPaul   May 18th, 2009 - 11:41 am

Thanks for the Plug Lindsey!

Two nonpartisan polling organizations, the Gallup Polls and Pew Research Center for People and the Press, released polling data on party identification. Gallup found 28 percent identified as Republicans, while Pew counted it at 23 percent.

The next question is whether Republican registrations are declining.

Both the Gallup and Pew polls show declines since roughly 2005. Gallup has recorded a decline in Republican Party identification from about 35 percent in 2005 to 28 percent in 2009. Pew showed a decline from 30 percent in 2004 to 23 percent
in 2009.

“We are not losing blue states and shrinking as a party because we are not conservative enough. If we pursue a party that has no place for someone who agrees with me 70 percent of the time, that is based on an ideological purity test rather than a coalition test, then we are going to keep losing.”

– Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican

BobS   May 18th, 2009 - 12:14 pm

Isn’t it amazing that everytime the Republicans put up a “moderate” ala McCain or Dole they get beat. But put up someone who claims to be a conservative like the Bush’s and Reagan and they win. Yet morons like Lindsey still think they need to put up more moderate(LIBERAL) canadites to win. Graham gives all Republicans a bad name by making them all look like morons who will believe whatever the leftist media tells them.

kmichaels   May 18th, 2009 - 12:56 pm

Bill Airs, still passing around the bogus poll results.

If you want the most accurate polling, check with RasmussenReports.com

He has done recent polls on party affiliation and shows dems between 36-38% and Reps between 32-34%.

Rasmussen shows that both Dems and Reps numbers have been going down, (dems going down even faster) and are being reported as independents instead.

What the polls show is dissatisfaction with politics in general.

What Dems have done is to win one election in a row, which is why I find it so funny that idiotic trolls like Bill Airs gets so excited about this one win.

And then, the idiotic conclusion that we should become more moderate, when moderate is what loses us the most elections, well, nuff said about that stupidity.

And finally, right and wrong has never been determined by popularity.

Popularity is for school girls and gays. Real adults want to do what is right.

kmichaels   May 18th, 2009 - 1:14 pm

Trent is on one of the other stories found sucking Palestinian terrorist butt. So we understand how perverted he is in his thought process. It is funny how so many stupid ideas can be embodied by leftists, but they do tend to consistently stand for all the wrong things.

Sean R.   May 18th, 2009 - 1:43 pm

Bill Airs, you are a gullible moron it’s not even funny little child. I’ve asked you this question a few weeks ago, how people in this country right now claim that their registered “Democrats/Demoncats”? Yes polls may show that registered Republicans are down (don’t get me wrong, I AM NOT A REGISTERED REPUBLICAN, I AM A REGISTERED INDEPENDENT), but I bet you Bill Airs that registered Democrats are even worst than registered Republicans. The people in this country are sick and tired and disgusted with both political parties, neither party has the interest of we the american people Bill Airs, PUHLEASE quit pretending that the DNC has the interest of the people (which is completely BS and RUBBISH)!

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder!!!!

Larse   May 18th, 2009 - 2:07 pm

Senators like Lindsey Graham have made the Republican party what is is today. Just like the Whig party in 1854, they have about two years left…

Heck of a job Linny!!

Bill Airs   May 18th, 2009 - 2:10 pm

Now,now kmichaels ,You are quoting the bible one minute and calling people names the next.
Plus you are trying to deceive these people who don’t know any better. The President’s overall approval rating has stayed between 54% and 58% every day since April 1 and every day but one for the past two months, per the Rasmussen poll. This is on par with George Bushes in the same time frame and greater the Bill Clinton’s if you just go by Rasmussen poll.
Scott Rasmussen points out in a recent analysis, “To be relevant in politics, you need either formal power or a lot of people willing to follow your lead. The governing Republicans in the nation’s capital have lost both on their continuing path to irrelevance”
I would stop quoting Rasmussen if I were you.
Scott Rasmussen is a frequent guest on Faux News and the poll’s questions have frequently been criticized for have a strong right-wing slant. Ah hah.
I must really get your shorts in a knot, since you always launch an attack when ever I post here, lol.

Bill Airs   May 18th, 2009 - 2:30 pm

Sean R,Who cares what you are.You and kmichaels are the same person.Breibart didn’t like what I had to say about the Rasmussen report so they put me in awaiting moderation. You use name calling to fill in for a lack of anything substance to say.Looks like 2nd grade stuff to me.

They may not post this either, but you need to find out who owns the Rasmussen poll.Enough said.

“In politics, as of today, do you consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat, or an independent? (Asked of independents: As of today, do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?)”

Republicans (includes “leaners”)..45% (+6% from 2 wks ago)
Democrats (includes “leaners)…..45% (-5% from 2 wks ago)

Check it out at Gallup”

BobS   May 19th, 2009 - 11:30 am

Boy,
Maybe you need to become a man before you comment on a website. What is the 2nd word in compassionate conservative? Here is a hint, it is CONSERVATIVE! Yes, George W Bush ran as a conservative and his approval stayed high as long as he continued to be a conservative. Once he started enacting his compassionate side i.e. working with Ted “Drunkard” Kennedy, his approval ratings started to plummet. Along with McCain, he spent the Republican Party into the minority! As soon as we get another real conservative to lead the party the Libtards will start losing election after election once again.

Watchman   May 19th, 2009 - 3:53 pm

Why do Libertarian baffoons and the Ron Paul freaks continue to align themselves with the Republican Party?

Libertarians should separate themselves from the Republicans and go over to where they belong… the Libertarian Party, and stay there. They’re hurting the Republican Party.

Libertarians are liberals in a conservative disguise. No Libertarian has ever refuted this claim. They are only fiscally conservative but socially liberal.

Please! I beg you. Do all of us Republicans a favor and go away!

Boy in BOYCOTT   May 19th, 2009 - 6:08 pm

@Bob S
Bush plummeted when Iraq went off the rails
“Mission Accomplished” by the time of Katrina he lost half the REPIGS.

BobS   May 22nd, 2009 - 1:29 pm

Boy,
When exactly did Iraq go “off the rails”? It seems to me it was after years of the Libtards saying how bad of a situation it was in Iraq and Bush started working with the Libtards on spending to try to show “bi-partisanship” He wrongly assumed that if he worked with the Libs they would stop being such jerks about Iraq and start being patriots vs. traitors. Instead they continued to bash him and conservatives decided he had become too liberal to back thus his plunging numbers. If he had stayed conservative he would have kept my support and his numbers may have decreased slightly due to the morons who don’t pay attention starting to believe the Libtards but it would not have been nearly as bad as when he lost his conservative supporters.
