SC Lt. Governor Calls for Convention to Overturn Obama Health Care

andrebauer.com: "As I have carefully researched this matter to find a solution, I have found but one sure-fire way to overturn the new socialized medicine law: a constitutional convention, called for by the states, as provided for in Article Five of the United States Constitution. I am asking you to support a legislative resolution calling for a constitutional convention, hopefully by joining as a sponsor of the resolution which, at my request, is already being prepared by Senators Campbell and Cleary in the Senate, and Representatives Frye and Scott in the House."

I agree! Let’s call a Constitutional Convention and get rid of this thing once and for all so that it won’t rear its ugly head again!

John Campbell   March 30th, 2010 - 7:19 am

THIS IS THEE MOST HORRIFIC THOUGHT I HAVE EVER SEEN SUGGESTED!!!!!

For one thing a Constitutional Convention is not the place to address this when it can be done by voting out the scumbags and also in the courts. I fully expect the courts will do just that.

The more important thing is once a Constitutional Convention is called the doors are wide open and the potential for utter destruction of our way of life is laid bare. Every aspect of the U.S. Constitution is automatically on the table to be carved up, shredded, ripped apart, in every way imaginable and then some. There would be no faster way to guarantee a truly armed, blood flowing in the streets, full blown, revolution than to have our Constitution destroyed from within by those hell bent on overthrowing our form of government. Just one tiny mistake and it’s over with and the war is on. With commies afoot is there anyone who really believes they will not flock to this Convention by hook, crook, and anything else they can do to the “F” degree to exploit such an event?

I know not who the South Carolina Lt. Governor is, but as of right now I not only question his sensibilities, but also where his loyalties truly lie.

This sounds good but who’s going to explain what the constitution to BoBo?
The libs don’t know what it is.
If you don’t believe me
Look up this little boy on you tube
Named Racheal Maddcow
She’ll tell you there’s no preamble
in the constitution
Because like BoBo she’s
got some of them papers
telling us how smart she is.

Not on Demmunists’ watch. As I understan the process, there’s too little regulation of how these go to keep the Demmunists from making things even worse.

I posted on this subject earlier my legitimate fears about such a convention and I see now it was removed/refused posting by moderators. Since the moderators have my e-mail address and are going to read this post I think it’s only fair that I be informed why my post was pulled as it violated nothing in the terms of use.

Tom Degan   March 30th, 2010 - 8:09 am

The new health care bill is not perfect – far from it – but as the old Chinese saying goes, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” There will be improvements made on it down the years – there absolutely needs to be – but this is a fairly good first step. We’re on our way! The Conservatives will whine, but that’s what they do best. They’ll whine just as they whined when Lyndon Johnson signed into law the Voting Rights Act of 1965, or the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Just as they whined when Harry Truman desegregated the army in 1947, or when Franklin D. Roosevelt brought Social Security into being in 1935. They’ll whine just like they did when Woodrow Wilson tried to form the League of Nations in 1919 – or when Abraham Lincoln ended the institution of slavery in 1863! They whine a lot. Did you ever notice that?

This is excactly what Constitutional Professor Paul Rahe from Hillsdale College has been saying for close to a year. If the conservative movement is going to get any traction moving forward, we need more people like this Lt. Gov. This needs to be a major plank of the Republican Party. Let’s show America that the Contitution has power once again in order to beat back the scoundrels that wish to take our country away.

I   March 30th, 2010 - 8:23 am

This would be a huge mistake. Who would attend this convention? Just imagine the nuts from the left running in to help rewrite it the way they want. There is nothing wrong with the Constitution. It’s the democrats that are broken. Change the broken parts and leave the working part alone. We can change the marxist healthcare bill by DEFUNDING IT! We need to focus on November….if there will even be an honest election or an election at all. If we can succeed in November, we can DEFUND everything this marxist democrat takeover has done to damage this country.

A constitutional convention can be narrowly focused by creating limitations within the “organizing” document. I once misunderstood the potentials of the con/con myself but after listening to judge Napolitano on the subject it can be a function focused event. The way the process works is that a state proposes a convention based on that “original” document, the language within the document can restrict the function or issues to be debated. If a state proposes a convention document it must be carried from one state legislature to another without any changes, if it is changed then the effort fails, if it carries on to 34 states, then it proceeds to a convention venue. Now even though a convention is called doesn’t mean it’s over…

Whatever constitutional changes the convention resolves must be voted on for ratification by three fourths of the states (38). So there are safeguards built into the process the first part is getting the needed 34 state legislatures to vote for it…

The reason that this has failed in the past is that it was an “open ended” convention document with no specific focus, that was dangerous and people said hell no.

A constitutional convention is called to make amendments to the constitution, not repeal bad law. Its the same as when they actually wrote the Constitution, representatives from the states came together and created the entire Constitution. In this way, they have power over the Presidency, the Congress and the Senate, as well as the entire Judicial Branch.

They have the right idea, but need to define an amendment that would permanently check the fed power play. One example would be to create a simple amendment that requires the congress to halt all deficit spending that is not absolutely necessary for the defense of this nation, and cap the tax and spend habits. This should have an effect to shrink the size of the government and cut its costs substantially.

They could outlaw the lobby industry from provinding any funds to any member of government, or employing any elected official for 10 years after his/her term expires. The could also cap the profits of for profit health care insurance to 4% or 8%, and require that all profit above and beyond that level be returned directly to policy holders. They already do this kind of thing with power companies.

One of the most strategic possibilities would be to define the terms “regulate commerce” and “general welfare” as used in the constitution.

Any laws in contradiction of the amendment would be void on its inception. The intent that the congress are representatives of the “People” need to be stressed much more so today after the last 50 years then when the constitution was actually written, as Congress and the Senate have both failed in thier duties to do so. The elimination of lobby activity circumventing state and individual rights is a direct attack on socialist’s programs and would insure the rights of the people were upheld above the interests of corporations, instead of corporations given the go ahead to rape our economy by our own government. Anyone who has had a credit card at 36% interest should be able to understand this issue.

Republicans getting in the majority in 2010 is key. Republicans can withhold funding
to these various aspects of the bill as it is and shut it down that way.
and an investigation into the manner in which votes were obtained also opens the door to repeal tihs., imo

first things first   March 30th, 2010 - 9:25 am

if they agree to table the first matter with regards to obama’s ability to hold
office i’m all for it. because once they get that little nasty matter put to rest
all the rest of it could be a matter of tossing large amounts of paper into a trash can and putting an eligible person to be president of the United States. had they done first things first we
probably wouldnt even be here.

Constitutional Convention???
No way. Who is this idotic SC clown who masquerades as an American?

You call that and they’ll strip out your Bill of Rights, change anything
they want to there. No more 1st or 2nd Amendment, let alone the others.
Forget it. I like my Constitution the way it is thank you.

If amabOssAyMssiK is correct (A constitutional convention can be narrowly focused by creating limitations within the “organizing” document) then do it. We are still a conservative nation, do it now and get it over with. Return the power back to the states as it was in pre-civil war days because what is going on now is more scary. I do not trust the Washington power players on both sides.

A Constitutional Convention is a great idea and long overdue!

Democrats are the party of racism, slave owners and lynchings. 1/3 of the 5000 lynched by democrats during Jim Crowe were white Republicans fighting for civils rights — which was first passed by Republicans in 1875!

Democrat slave owners justified slavery by saying blacks needed to be taken care of — they make the same dehumanizing argument today to keep them on the democrat Marxist plantation.

I don’t think so, however, it does explain a lot of the “the voters will like it later and it’ll help us at election time” mentality of this current congress.
