How about taking off your stinking crosses while you are at it?

Read the news, simple   June 22nd, 2009 - 5:31 pm

They already outlawed display of crosses years ago. All religious items across the board.

dr jay   June 22nd, 2009 - 5:39 pm

hey dip wad, wearing a cross as a choice is different than oppression of females. the muslims treat them like dogs. good for sarkozy.

Stephanie   June 22nd, 2009 - 5:40 pm

freedom of religion is one thing, covering your entire stinky body and then running into a 7-11 and holding the cashier hostage while you rob the place or better yet ram your car with a bomb in it makes it impossible for the authorities to identify you.

Well…France…it is about time!

After the growth of Islam in your nation, you finally speak up and speak out!

Let’s not wait that long in America…speak up and speak out against those who seek to change our American way of life!

Don’t give up or give in…this is America…the land of the free and the home of the brave…no Burqas in America…you want to wear one…go to an Islamic country where they are required!

Yeahh   June 22nd, 2009 - 8:19 pm

Some women feel bras are a form of oppression. I agree! But seriously, free countries should not allow women to be enslaved.

Que the twisted liberal pretending to be Muslim saying she likes to be oppressed. Here we go again…..

I started to notice Sarkozy after he gave his D-Day memorial speech. It was very good and he recognized the contribution of the United States in saving his country.
This ruling is also good – who knows what you could stuff into one of those Burqas.
I personally think all attractive women should be free to be naked.

Sean R.   June 23rd, 2009 - 1:30 pm

And did you folks know that they the samething in the Netherlands about 2-3 years ago when a radical-islamist killed a dutch artist, painter, etc. (I’m really not sure, but I’ll check on that again). Sarkozy to his credit is right, they should outlaw burqas in western states, and to the nutjob left wing liberal/progressives that post here and look retarded and stupid, do any of you left wing schmucks know that in islamic countries the women are treated as second class citizens! They can’t vote, they can’t drive vehicles, if there found committing adultery the throwback radical islamist men stoned them to death, etc. I’m saying this because you leftist live in a goddamn dreamworld, WAKE UP & SEE REALITY FOR ONCE YOU CRAZY LEFT WINGERS!

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder!!!!!

Holy Hypocrisy!   June 23rd, 2009 - 2:10 pm

Yeah, Eileen, this is America, the land of the free…as long as you look like us, are Christians, and don’t wear a burqa!

Sean R.   June 23rd, 2009 - 2:16 pm

You folks know that the women in some-most of these islamic countries are treated as second-class citizens, they can’t drive vehicles, they can’t vote, if there found committing adultery they are stoned to death by throwback radical-islamist men. And where are the so-called womens group in this country who has NOTHING to say about the women in the middle-east who are treated like crap! The answer is that the womens group in this country are nothing but FRAUDS & BS-ARTIST who only obey what thier masters in the Democrat National Committe tell them to do, etc. And did any of you folks know that in the Netherlands they did the samething that Sarkozy did yesterday, they that after a dutch-artist was killed by a radical-islamofascist thug about 2-3 years ago, and about weeks later in their election, a party was elected to parliment and they outlawed burqas over there.

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder!!!!

Yeah, Eileen, this is America, the land of the free…as long as you look like us, are Christians, and don’t wear a burqa!
YOU’RE A MORON, THIS MEANS YOU SUPPORT ISLAMIC MISOGYNY.

France takes the lead in standing up to Islam?
We are so freaking screwed!

Biden ‘09!
Change we need!

The reasons they gave are bogus. They are afraid and they are dictating that people cannot wear more clothes than “normal” Frenchmen.

Just have a law that states that if identity needs to be confirmed then do it privately or covertly to protect the subjects sensibilities.

I cannot see any reason why someone cant wear a lot of clothing if they so choose.

George   June 24th, 2009 - 4:44 pm

Good for Sarkozy! Too bad our “leaders” don’t seem to have that kind of courage. You want multi-culturalism? Try living in a Muslim
country and asserting your feminists’ rights. Good luck! Those old white guys that wrote our Constitution weren’t so dumb after all, huh?

Gandhi's Fist   June 24th, 2009 - 5:03 pm

As much as I’m loath to agree with him–Other–is right on this one. If you let these folks into your France, and France is a free democracy, then you’re obliged to respect your citizen’s differences.

What Sarkozy meant to say, was that Muslims are not assimilating into the French melting pot and this must end. Good luck on that. France has had many problems with it’s Islamic citizens. Between the Shira law crimes, the assaults on French non-Muslim citizens and burning of millions of dollars in automobiles (during riots), Frenchmen has had it up to their teeth with Muslims.

The Burqa is a visual symbol and does represent much of what is vile about Islamic culture, but, unfortunately, France opened the third world immigration Pandora’s box and will be unable to easily put the top back on. Might as well say he’s not going to put up with loud Hawaiian shirts and knee pants for all the good it will do him.

Given the security risks with wearing one of these veils – have you ever seen a woman in one of these? You could hide a small continent underneath those things – this OUGHT to be a NO BRAINER. Ok, then let’s add in that this is a repressive society and community. What the hell is sooo scary about a woman showing her face and hands? In a democratic society, it’s citizenry is VISIBLE. Oh… wait, I think I see the problem. They don’t want woman to be visible. They consider women less than a person. In some Arabic communities a woman’s worth is measured in camels.

Sorry, we don’t live that way in the West and France has suddenly come to the party and realized what a nightmare they now have living on their doorstep. Unfortunately, I think they are closing the barn door after the horse. Don’t give me any crap about religious freedom. You can pray, observe, whatever, any way you choose. When it becomes a SECURITY RISK, all bets are off. If they don’t like it, take the first flight out to Mecca.
