Santorum Scolds Newt, Mitt: Enough With Petty Attacks

An angry and visibly frustrated Rick Santorum called for an end to attacks against Newt Gingrich's consulting work in Washington DC and Mitt Romney's wealth and business history.

This memorable moment came after long exchanges between Gingrich and Romney instigated by CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer.

He scolded CNN not Newt or Romney.

PowerAhead   January 26th, 2012 - 6:36 pm

I agree with Layerdepth — Santorum is bashing CNN.

goon48   January 26th, 2012 - 7:33 pm

Right on!!! Let's focus on the issues, the economy in this country is in bad shape. Lets focus on Obama is running this country into the ground, he is the issue.

Santorum defends his use of earmarks
By Naureen Khan http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57354185-5...

Washington has a spending problem. Tax cuts don't increase deficits anymore than tax increases decrease deficits. Deficits are decreased by spending less. I wonder how many of the folks who quote this nonsense have ever budgeted their own money. If they find they are spending more than they take in, do they demand raise from their boss?

No President of the United States can create either a budget deficit or a budget surplus. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives and all taxes are voted into law by Congress. This means Bill Clinton did not balance the budget, the Republicans did.

Baggi   January 26th, 2012 - 8:08 pm

Santorum or Newt need to drop out after the Florida Primary.

If both of them stay in, one of them is doing so to give Mitt Romney the nomination. It's bad enough that both of them staying in will give Romney the Florida delegates.

Iamwitheileen   January 26th, 2012 - 8:10 pm

America…this is the candidate…the only 'real' conservative in this race for the presidency…and the one who will get the vote of this 'real' conservative woman and her family because we care about our Republic…our Constitution and the future of our children!

He is the only one NOT deep in bed with ANY NWO organization as the others!

HE CAN WIN…WITH OUR HELP!
HE WILL WIN…WITH OUR HELP!
HE SHOULD HAVE RUN…BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY ONE TO BRING 'HOPE' AND 'CHANGE' AND THIS TIME…THIS TIME…IT WILL NOT BE A LIE!

NOW LET US SUPPORT RICK SANTORUM WITH OUR MONEY AND OUR VOTE TO FIGHT!

Sorry Baggi, hows about Newt or Romney drop out to increase the chances for SANTORUM 2012.

H2K   January 26th, 2012 - 8:19 pm

Is it just me, but Santorum seems to be the only normal person up on stage. The hyper-competitiveness of Newt and Mitt is frankly a little strange. Especially Mitt. The obvious coordinated attacks from Mitt's camp are totally bizarre. You don't get half of the GOP establishment to come out with "Newt hated Reagan" on one single day.

Kinda weird. I won't be voting Mitt, for sure. Too manipulative.

Snakedoc83   January 26th, 2012 - 8:20 pm

LIKE A BOSS!

tiredofdemslies   January 26th, 2012 - 8:27 pm

I thought Santorum did a great job tonight. I'm with you about Mitt. I don't like him.

Iamwitheileen   January 26th, 2012 - 8:51 pm

Again…as another brought up…the only 'real' conservative in this race…Rick Santorum…could not have voted on this…because he was NOT in the senate at the time!

Lying again?

Iamwitheileen   January 26th, 2012 - 8:52 pm

Bravo!

KJinAZ   January 26th, 2012 - 9:11 pm

Rick is correct. I want to hear their plans for how they intend to put our country back on track. I am still waiting for one of the to pledge that we need to end public unions. I know this will irritate the establishment crowd, but we the people don't care what the idiot establishment crowd thinks anymore. It's time to tighten our belts, not let it out a few more notches, as our current president has done.

I also want one to hear them say they will throw out all the czars. What a huge waste of money, and I hear most of them are not paying their taxes. Any government worker owing money for more than a year should not get a paycheck.

Yeah, kinda hard to vote on something when you are NOT currently a Senator guy.

D_Bar   January 26th, 2012 - 9:39 pm

Here! Here! Tell it sister!

D_Bar   January 26th, 2012 - 9:40 pm

Again Einstein, Santorum isn't currently a
Senator.

Iamwitheileen   January 26th, 2012 - 10:08 pm

For all of those who agree that Rick Santorum is the one to beat….then let us encourage him with a MONEY BOMB on Friday to let him know we are with him!

Meh88   January 26th, 2012 - 11:04 pm

Cute tantrum "look at me, look at me!"

Mrs.Tank   January 26th, 2012 - 11:22 pm

At some point the pettiness against one another must stop and the REAL concern should start and that is to kick obama's skinny arse to the curb.

Mrs.Tank   January 26th, 2012 - 11:27 pm

I tend to agree with you, we need to know EVERYTHING about these candidates but who is left? Santorum seems to be the only genuine conservative up there, or half way conservative that is.. Romney seems to be too establishment and Gingrich too big government..We're left with Santorum, not perfect but IMO better than the rest.

KJinAZ   January 26th, 2012 - 11:34 pm

Two points for Newt. Thanks for the link.

John_Campbell   January 27th, 2012 - 3:12 am

And they (CNN) more than deserve it.

OldmanRick   January 27th, 2012 - 3:39 am

It seemed that Santorum was criticizing CNN. Glad Rick said what he did.

Danielsh1015   January 27th, 2012 - 3:45 am

Santorum's my man, all my money is on him…

MAD JEWESS   January 27th, 2012 - 7:37 am

Santorum is the only conservative

nceeno   January 27th, 2012 - 8:15 am

WTF has the world come to when we have to put up with names like Newt, Mitt and Wolf?
Animals and sports equipments seem like a poor way to name your kids.

The attacks on how successful each other has become needs to stop.

The National Association for Gun Rights has sent our official Presidential Gun Rights Survey to all the announced Republican Candidates for President. Returning our Presidential Gun Rights Survey is an important step for a candidate to indicate their true feelings about your right to keep and bear arms. Taken with past statements, and voting records, the survey serves as an important tool for pro-gun voters who want to know where the candidates stand.

You can view the survey here. (Adobe PDF required.)

Ah….Bubba…George…we didn't send back ours also…does that me that we are not patriots…not avid gun rights people…'real' conservative citizens and can never, ever run for public office?

Do you see how stupid your stance really is on this…because WE do!

Washington76   January 27th, 2012 - 9:14 am

Eileen the PHONEY!

Iamwitheileen   January 27th, 2012 - 9:28 am

Archimedes2   January 27th, 2012 - 10:15 am

He's right. Rick is coming along much better last 2 debates. I hope he does well here, if for no reason other than frustrating the Obama teams' efforts to dig up dirt on whoever gets the nod.

kmichaels   January 27th, 2012 - 10:33 am

How about we have Newt drop out, so that he don't end up with Newt?
Seriously, you think that everyone just loves that glory hound Newt?

kmichaels   January 27th, 2012 - 10:34 am

Except Santorum himself attackes the other candidates when it pleases him.
He is simply not sincere.

kmichaels   January 27th, 2012 - 10:35 am

Their name could be nceeno.

nceeno   January 27th, 2012 - 2:06 pm

That would definitely be an improvement.
