I think Rush is wrong on this one. If the R’s refuse to play at all, the D’s and the media will make a big deal of it, and independents will be alienated. I read through most of the posts, but can’t find anywhere on the Web a description of how this “debate” will be conducted. What are the time constraints placed on the event? If it’s less than a few hours this complex issue will come down to nothing but a recitation of previous sound bites for the next news cycle and a flurry of photo-ops. Where will it be held? At the White House in a conference room or at one of the C-Span meeting rooms? Will there be any live audience (which can be easily packed with SEIU folks or Tea-bag activists) for supposedly spontaneous eruptions? Or, will it be solely a televised discussion in level tones and serious treatment of viewpoints?
The setting determines the outcome. What is going on right now behind the scenes hearkens back to the “Cold War” era when the size and shape of the table was the only thing coming out of the negotiations.
Frankly, I don’t expect the event to live up to the hype because both sides have too much to lose.

Yet, Obama won’t dare face Rush in a debate. Given that he has one of the largest audiences in the media and in the world it would make sense to go on his show (Bush did and many others). But Obama is a coward so wants to stay safe at home where he and his slime-ball’s can try to capture a “gotcha” moment to run with on the nightly news.
I think the party of no is a good thing. NO Obama, no rising dept, no phony healthcare reform, no big spending, no socialism, no destroying the constitition. Let’s pray they are the party of No to anything OBAMA, we know his plan, and it is to take us straight to socialism following Soros and Alinsky!

So why all the sudden does Obama now want to invite Republicans to a bi-partisan discussion on Health Care? He’s had over a year to initiate a bi-partisan debate and negotiations with Republicans but he DIDN’T do it! I think the Republican leaders have seen the real reason Obama made the sudden turn around and that’s because he’s trying to get Republicans on his side while at the same time trying to keep the Reid Pelosi Bill relatively intact as it now stands. And then when Republicans still won’t accept the Reid Pelosi Bill as it now stands Obama will then say to the American people: “See, I told you so? I invite a bi-partisan debate with Republicans and they still won’t work with me. I tried America..” And in doing so he would hopefully get the Democrat hold outs on his side by his “so-called” show of bi-partisanship with Republicans and with just “one” Republican convert and GOTCHA!! He would then be able to pass the Reid Pelosi MONSTROSITY AS IS! NO THANKS OBAMA!!
What Republicans must make sure of is that they don’t negotiate with Obama unless they can get Obama, Reid, and Pelosi to agree on to START OVER from SCRATCH with a BRAND NEW BILL or NO DEAL!! If Obama, Reid, and Pelosi agree then fine and dandy and they can all go ahead and start over with a “bi-partisan” bill. If they don’t agree to the stipulation(s) then Republicans and Democrats alike should let the Reid Pelosi MONSTROSITY die a quick DEATH! GOOD RIDDANCE! Better to keep the current and best Health Care system in the WORLD intact than to pass a Bill that would DESTROY our current Health Care System, RAISE TAXES enormously, RATION our Health Care, DRIVE THOUSANDS of Doctors away from practicing Medicine (at least in the United States anyway), and would VASTLY increase the National deficit.. NO WAY JOSE! Obama.. you sly devil you.
