No, but there was a state of hostility between our government (not the American people who wanted to stay neutral) and Germany’s government due to the Lend Lease Act which supplied their enemies. You can’t have it both ways – the neocons want to claim giving material support to whomever they dislike, like Hamas, makes them an enemy. It is one or the other, either the attack on Pearl Harbor was justified OR our current wars are unjustified. Which would you prefer?
Harrison Ford is probably even further left than Hanks, but he usually isn’t out spewing propaganda like Hanks. The only think missing from this train wreck is Hanks going over and doing interviews with the Taliban from his symPATHETIC point of view.
I suppose you do these kinds of things in Hollywood when your career is fading and your looks are going down hill. Too much hate in here. Tom Hanks is entitled to his opinion. You can take it for whatever it’s worth to you. For me, not much. Then again, I really don’t let the opinions of any entertainer influence me, be they an actor, athlete or musician. The man has done a lot of good work on and off the screen and he has helped bring much needed attention to the men and history of WWII. Sometimes you just have to let the stupidity, perceived or otherwise, roll off and move on. The alternative is to stick your head in a hole, be angry all the time, and not enjoy a lot of really good work. There’s too much hate, distrust and thick-headedness in this country already.
