Robert Redford Rips Mitt Romney, Conservatives

"For years and years and years, you've all experienced what we had to live with, the fact that other countries are far more supportive of their artists than we are. But when you have congressional narrow-minded people, people who are afraid of change when change is the only thing that succeeds, the only thing we know is going to happen is that things are going to change."

Who told RR that he was all of a sudden relevant? or that his opinion was even desired? did he make a donation to obangos campaign or something? When we want something from you RR, we'll dust you off, first. And give you your lines on paper. Until then go back to your multi million dollar home and lock yourself back up.

What a stupid little poodle!.
Conservatives are afraid of change?.

Here's some HUGE changes proposed by Conservatives.

* Putting the Federal Gov't under the discipline of a balanced budget amendment.
* School Choice.
* Stopping illegal immigration and making English our official language.
* Replacing the tax code with a flat tax or a consumption tax.
* Uprooting and killing the progressive malignant cancer of Obamacare.

It's the White liberal establishment and their Black lap dogs that support the status quo and are the reactionaries in our time.

Robert Redford is the perfect example of the intellectually retarded left wing liberal Democrat (and yes, that's EVERY Democrat there is) … able to suceed in one area in life, but a miserable failure in all others.

DrEdu   January 21st, 2012 - 4:12 am

This dude is an imbecile:

a.- He says "For years and years and years, you've all experienced …the fact that other countries are far more supportive of their artists than we are". IN REALITY, ARTISTS BY THE HUNDREDS FLOCK AND BEG TO COME TO AMERICA. Because only in America these mildly educated retards get to be treated like gods. What a moron!

b.- But he is RIIGHT in one thing WHEN HE SAIS that " the only thing we know is going to happen is that things are going to change". HE’S GOT THAT RIGHT…CHANGE IS COMING…OBAMA IS GONNA GO.

Redford= a do as I say liberal. Mr. Redford IF what the liberals are doing is sooooo wonderful, why is it the overwhelming majority of movies are being made OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA, the artists come and then they run? Make your movies in Hollowood and then you may have an opinion on how "backward" the Republicans are sir. Taxes? Could the bane of our existence, taxes- change where a liberal makes a movies? Change has really helped that municipality, huh?

claspur   January 21st, 2012 - 5:12 am

RogueGovernment   January 21st, 2012 - 5:14 am

We support the arts by spending hundreds of millions on Hollywood's bulls***. Not good enough for you rich spoiled actor-types? If you guys want to "support the arts," how about getting more of your pals to fork over some of their millions for what they value?

HookedOnObonics   January 21st, 2012 - 5:15 am

decripet   January 21st, 2012 - 5:41 am

Must be time for the Sundance [ far left artist ] film festival. Old Bob is trying to drum up interst in this boring old festival. Talk about change even HGTV is building the new Dream house there trying to spark interest in this lowly Oscar imitation.

ArchonPrime   January 21st, 2012 - 5:49 am

"MUSHROOM CLOUD OF EGO"…THE IRONY.

hezaAZsmitty   January 21st, 2012 - 5:51 am

As with the majority of out of touch Hollywood, Redford continues to insult over half of potential viewership for the tripe he produces. Sundance festival is nothing but a trade-show for leftist film makers gathering to extol how great they are to the only audience that will listen………themselves!

emgreenlaw   January 21st, 2012 - 5:52 am

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but he abuses the privilege.

dgleon   January 21st, 2012 - 5:54 am

Robert Redford was gorgeous to look at in his younger days and was a pretty good actor, but he is clearly not in his right mind and hasn't been for quite a long while. I am actually embarrassed for the poor guy. That being said though, I have refused for many years to watch anything that he is in and if I see his name as part of a project, I walk away.

noodlenogen   January 21st, 2012 - 5:55 am

What do any of these actors do for our country? They pretend for a living. How can anyone listen to someone that by all evidence is disconnected from reality?

jleinf   January 21st, 2012 - 5:56 am

What the heck is he talking about? Change to a socialist society like europe/Greece? Fricken Libtard

PushHereToFlush   January 21st, 2012 - 6:09 am

Looks like he caught a bad case of ugly. I guess the 1% has a subfaction of good guys, the rich that pretend they're against being rich as long as they can be rich while criticizing the rich.

Look, chump. America supports it good artists in a merit based manner. If you're fading into oblivion, that's what your skills and talent merit.

noodlenogen   January 21st, 2012 - 6:09 am

And he thinks tax money should support the disconnected in Hollywood. We support an entire city of disconnected wind bags already, its called Washington D.C. I thought that ticket sales rewarded popular actors already. Maybe he means we need welfare for bad actors in terrible movies. Because they are not able to get the good movie roles. It's not their fault they suck. Acting classes wouldn't help them. Nor would improving their skills or becoming more marketable. Poor, poor welfare class actors.

LouieB   January 21st, 2012 - 6:43 am

More Hollywood brain power on display.

Founding_Dad   January 21st, 2012 - 6:44 am

And that's why the European countries are going down the tubes Mr. Redford. In the natural order of "real needs", food, shelter and safety rank way ahead of supporting an artist. Artists have a "right" to work, but is doesn't mean anyone has to buy their product. Robert Redford………..that last bastion of intellectualism…………don't worry, I'm sure another script will be coming your way…………or maybe not.

elizabethrc   January 21st, 2012 - 6:47 am

Bob, this country is in dire straits and you talk about supporting the arts? How about giving some of your (and your fellow 'actors') millions to support the tens of thousands of children in this country who don't have enough to eat because their parents are out of work, have lost their homes and have no hope under your precious Obama of getting another one any time soon. That won't happen until he, who caused this morass, is out of office. And please, please spare us the "it is all Bush's fault" trope. Obama has made a bad situation a catastrophe and it is on his shoulders alone.
Oh, but what would the country be without more Hollywood movies, filled with violence, sex and excesses? What does a ticket cost to see a movie today? Who gets that money? How much of it goes back to the community?
No, Bobby, you don't get it. You overpaid, extravagance living 'celebrities' have no social conscience. All you care about is the next party, how you can get your name and face in the paper or on TV and what else you can buy.
Spare us your concerns about the arts. You are the reason your industry is beginning to be on the skids. Deservedly so.

warmingsmorming   January 21st, 2012 - 6:47 am

Americans support artist and athletes to the tune of billions of dollars a year in the PRIVATE SECTOR as the very rich Redford knows. If you can't make it on your own your artwork probably sucks. Like George Benson sings in liebler and Stholer on Broadway . "Their dead wrong I know they are cause I can play this here guitar and I wont quit till I'm a star on broadway". Want to be a starving artist? Thats your choice just don't ask me to pay for your living expenses. Get a job as a waiter

NotKennedy   January 21st, 2012 - 6:48 am

You know who would make a good buttbuddy for Redford? John Edwards. Husband and Husband. Such a pretty couple. :-)

owleyes   January 21st, 2012 - 6:48 am

Exactly. Wish the Bigs would stop giving this old has-been the attention he craves. I'm willing to bet the majority of (normal) Americans don't give 2 cents what he thinks.

DanielShays   January 21st, 2012 - 6:58 am

"Other countries are far more supportive of their artists"

Ah…he considers himself an artist. Ok then

MrRight   January 21st, 2012 - 7:05 am

This is unbelievable, Redford, just one of many, many of the super rich Hollywood stars whining about the fact that we average American taxpayers are not giving them more of our money. And by the way, what a suck up softball question that was posed to him.

mediazorba   January 21st, 2012 - 7:08 am

His "change" rhetoric makes as much sense as Al Sharpton's "resist we much".

ShawnSen   January 21st, 2012 - 7:09 am

No money for art, you cant eat art or live in it, ………Sure you could burn it to keep warm but just plain old wood is much better and far cheaper

Thay_Live   January 21st, 2012 - 7:17 am

Funny how you dont realize that none of these are actually changes and rather reactions to change and a desire to move backward instead of forward.

Thay_Live   January 21st, 2012 - 7:19 am

Are you kidding? Andre Serrano, Joel Peter Witkin, the constant attacks on the NEA by the American right because they dont like the art being made, etc. That's non-support of the arts you idiot.

I am so tired of having to set you boneheads straight.

canadianlady2   January 21st, 2012 - 7:28 am

And here I thought Obama gave $167 million of stimulus money to the National Endowment for the Arts in 2010. He apparently hasn't seen all the socialist realism art that came of all that, the colourful propaganda posters, and myriad other projects featuring Obama favourably.

Rubicon   January 21st, 2012 - 7:29 am

The only thing that has changed is his face. He looks like a dried up wrinkly prune, and apparently based on his liberal thinking – his mind does as well.

Sound&Fury   January 21st, 2012 - 7:37 am

Cali4niaPatriot   January 21st, 2012 - 7:40 am

KellyOmalley   January 21st, 2012 - 7:42 am

Hollywood preaches liberalism feminism fairness and equality. Wanna see a liberal squeal touch $1 from their billions and they will scream like crazy. Also you wanna see a pit of inequality, prejudice, politically incorrect anti feminist behavior- go over to Hollywood- count the minorities, women at the top of the heap in executive management positions! Also spend a day with them – they preach liberalism but money is their GOD! Sundance is nothing but a meat market and hes he owner of the set up! Hypocrisy good heavens!!

Old Redford is a class one hypocrite. He does airline commercials and owns a ski resort but he doesn't want anyone to polute or hurt the land. Only if he profits from it. Typical liberals, only out for themselves. Only them.

afreegreek   January 21st, 2012 - 7:49 am

State run, owned, and controlled media is great… until they decide what you have to say is not what they want to hear.. the fact is Mr'.Shortsighted, is that there is few quicker ways to land in prison or get a bullet in the head that to give government control over who gets to say what and where..

btw, Europe can piss money away on lots of things as long as the USA is bankrolling their defence.. Europe is what it is today because US taxpayers have built up, propped up and bailed Europe out for the past 60 years..

H2K   January 21st, 2012 - 7:50 am

Isn't there a place for you old has been actors. You are a liberal who made millions and now wants to basically blame America for how well you are living. You are an absolute A – Hole.

Soliel67   January 21st, 2012 - 8:21 am

Smug, boring, self-important.

Hey Redford, I support the arts and am I conservative, you know why? Because without freedom and free enterprise there is not money for the arts. Let me keep more of my money so I can support the arts more!!!

whatitwas   January 21st, 2012 - 8:23 am

Taxpayers have no reason to be forced to support things that don't have a willing and paying audience.

If someone wants to form an endowment out of their own, or collective, pocket? Have at it. Do it on your own dime or as a hobby.

RealMsgt   January 21st, 2012 - 8:24 am

Redford does not have the power to "Rip" anyone. The last several movies he produced and directed is total flops at the box office. He's not worth a first or second thought.

Shiori   January 21st, 2012 - 8:25 am

Incoherent tripe.

We don't support our artists, eh? That's Redford's douchebag way of calling us a bunch of hayseeds who don't appreciate his awesomeness. He used to be a nicer fellow. He came to my town to film 'The Natural', years ago. He met my Pops who was involved with some of the financials of the film, and was quite pleasant – they even did lunch. He couldn't really hit a ball though, but my Daddy knocked a few into the stratosphere when the local folks were permitted to play around on the field with the cast and crew. Redford looked slightly embarrassed, but what can you do? These movie stars are just celluloid heroes after all.

Anyway, shut up Redford. Hollywood is in need of the change – not the rest of us. We don't buy what you're selling because you insult us with your every word, and every project. Don't like piracy? I thought you lefties didn't believe in private property? You want Doctors to work for nothing, don't you? Anyway – cheer up. If Obama wins, you'll be making movies for the State. Won't that be a dream come true for you.

Shiori   January 21st, 2012 - 8:26 am

Good one!

Shiori   January 21st, 2012 - 8:35 am

Like…what countries? Russia, Cuba? He doesn't say. Which countries have 'artists' with as much money I wonder? They seem to love Sweden – the country that allows unrestrained illegal downloading. These silly lefties are always prattling on about 'other countries', yet never leave ours. This jerk has his own film festival, he's wealthy and respected in his field, what could he be whining about? Oh I know! SOPA not passing. Look, when you guys start making real movies again, and not the insufferable drivel approved by the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party, and not just re-makes of older, better films or those stolen from Japan, then maybe we'll start loving you again. Also, it would help if you weren't self righteously slamming our country day and night. Just a tip from a former movie lover.

democratsarefools   January 21st, 2012 - 8:37 am

What a complete success at his chosen profession, however a complete idiot with real life.

"Change only happens with change which is good" There is a change coming to a house near this dim bulb.

Shiori   January 21st, 2012 - 8:40 am

Wouldn't it be a refreshing treat if we find out later that he was bemoaning Hollywood's Leftism infestation? That he's complaining about the very things that we folks do about the state of the entertainment industry?

Nah. Too far fetched – even for a movie.

mikegino   January 21st, 2012 - 8:45 am

He needs to add a new wrinkle to his face!

gadropout   January 21st, 2012 - 8:53 am

You might be thinking of Paul Newman. I'm not sure which "charities" their proceeds go to but Newman's Own makes great salad dressings, lemonade and popcorn.

alack   January 21st, 2012 - 8:55 am

Perhaps he and Jane Fonda can have a liberal pitty party and 3 or 4 more would show up.

Obamaisatraitor   January 21st, 2012 - 8:55 am

After 9/11 and all the left wingnuts from Hollywood were making crack pot comments a list of swells from there was going around the Internet. You'd be amazed-most of these rich 1% commie types never finished high school. That certainly accounts for their lack of understanding of the history of civilization (communism kills) or basic rights of free speech shut down for political reasons. They literally cannot grasp big ideas and must live in their pretend world.
