Right Pundit Attempts to Read 1200-Page Cap-and-Trade Bill Before Friday’s Vote

"Because your representatives don't find it important to read the bills they vote on, I'm going to give the cap-and-trade bill a try myself. I'm posting my reading here (for as long as I can last), so they're welcome to watch in lieu of reading it themselves. Ha, what are the chances? The bill is 1,200 pages long, 300 of which were added in private deals, without the benefit of public hearings. And, it's not even available in its final form, which will emerge near the vote on Friday, and we'll likely never see it until it's passed," says Mary Katharine Ham.

We need a new “birth of freedom” from this mess: of the lawyers, by the lawyers, for the lawyers.

What a beautiful, smart and wise young lady. To the voters of California: What were you thinking by electing Waxman? To call him a doofus is an insult to doofuses everywhere. This so-called “Cap and Trade” is just another unbridled attempt to tax the American public to death so that the dems can enlarge their dependency class, so that those votes will consolidate their power. You dem voters good with this? Really?

Quite the statement she is making.

America…there is still time to put a stop to this bill.

Right now call your Reps and tell them no to this bill that will raise our utility bills through the roof…we can afford no more!

Tell them you have a great memory and will not forget their vote if they do not go with the people of their area.

1. usa.gov
2. At top click on “site index”
3. On left click on “federal government”
4. In middle of page click on “reps on the web”
5. You should then have a map…but do not click on the map…instead go to the left and click on “house directory”
6. Put in your state and get the number of your rep and call them

I just called mine and told them no way and that “we” would not forget their vote on this matter!

DO IT NOW AMERICA…IT IS TOO IMPORTANT NOT TO DO SO!

P.S. Keep up the good work Mary Katherine!

Despite the negative comments… EVERY bill congress passes has this kind of content. If we were to open each section for comment and public review,
NOTHING would ever happen. Some folks would agree that putting that kind of a lock on Congress would be a good thing.. that is until THEY wanted to get something passed, then they would be jumping up and down screaming about how if we have to subject each and every detail to public scrutiny that we’ll never get anything done. This is the contradiction of democratic process. If we put EVERYTHING to a public vote, we would dis assemble into a mass of disagreement. I agree that it is a disgrace that our elected officials vote on things that they do not read. The only simple solution is something congress refuses to vote on… the LINE ITEM VETO.

We could propose a Line Item Veto bill on one page… let’s do that!

Well done Mary Katherine. The greatest weapon we have against these fools is ridicule. They HATE being ridiculed.

FoundingFathers   June 26th, 2009 - 3:00 pm

Obama campaigned on 100% transparency on all Bills, that was a good laugh, oh yeah and He was going to end earmarks in bills, also a laughable statement. I personally like the truth. Do as you say, say as you do, don’t lie, have integrity, honor, and gain respect truthfully. I guess that isn’t the America we live in today. Transparency to Obama and Congress means the windows in the room will be open when they sign their bills, had nothing to do with us or them even reading the legislation. Amazing how we pay for these crooked Congressmen and they can’t even read what they are signing! If I fail to perform my job there is reprimand, some of them don’t even keep up to date on their taxes!! The founding Fathers were wise beyond their years, they knew to keep the government small and restrained, without this America is doomed to inflation, high taxes, lower standards of living, higher and higher joblessness, the list goes on. The Democrats cannot blame what effects they are imposing on the American people with their own tax and spend policies on Bush forever. Whatever happened to the “failed policies of the past” the big O took the tarp idea and blew it up into the stratosphere!! If it was a failed policy way expand it?? Now more cost for companies to operate, more cost for everyone in the name of a manufactured crisis. America, get ready, higher taxes on everything, weaker military, lower property values, joblessness, this is the Democrat party results, just look out your window. If we had to pass the stimulus package asap, why are we not seeing any benefits from it?? Where are the 6 million jobs?? A turkey on everyone’s plate for Thanksgiving, lol I think not. America was founded as One Nation under God!! As America moves away from the rules and commandments that founded it, it slips away from its high status in the world as the best place to live. Checks and balances were written into the constitution for a reason, without them United We Fall.

NOBODY READS ANY OF THIS SH*T   June 26th, 2009 - 3:56 pm

Remember that part of Michael Moore’s movie “Fahrenheit 9/11,” where Conyers said to Moore: “Sit down, my son. NOBODY EVER READS ANY BILL THAT IS PASSED!”

Our government is apparently on AUTO-PILOT.
WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP!

SWITCHBOARDS CLOGGED   June 26th, 2009 - 3:59 pm

Some are predicting passage of this nonsense bill. Been trying to call to protest it for about 18 hours and am only getting “ALL CIRCUITS ARE BUSY,” so don’t know whether that means people are calling to OBJECT to it and jamming switchboards, or if the White House switchboards have simply been turned OFF so nobody can get through, or what.

The number, if anyone wants to try, is: 202 – 225-3121 or 224-3121.

DEJA VU   June 26th, 2009 - 4:01 pm

This all seems SOOOO FAMILIAR, “but I can’t remember WHERE or WHEN…”

tom   June 26th, 2009 - 5:09 pm

I would listen to Mary Katharine Ham read the dictionary! And her satire is the best. Maybe if she read it to the house they would listen.

READ IT FIRST, IDIOTS   June 28th, 2009 - 12:22 am

YES, they SHOULD have to READ the contents of these damned bills they are passing! And YES, they SHOULD have to make the contents PUBLIC (as Mr. O. promised, remember?) *WELL BEFORE* this CRAP is voted on.

Contact your Senators NOW and insist that they NOT vote on this CRAP ‘N’ TRADE stuff until THEY HAVE READ IT, AND AMERICANS ARE PERMITTED TO SEE WHAT IS IN IT.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   June 28th, 2009 - 12:21 pm

American Republicans…once again…we have (8) Republican turncoats that voted “yes” for this cap & trade bill that will saddle the American taxpayer with larger utility bills and much more!

They not only took the bill over the top to get it passed…they added one extra vote that wasn’t even needed! What slugs…these (8) are!

Here are their names:

Mary Bono (California)
William Castle (Delaware)
Mark Kirk (Illinois)
Leonard Lance (New Jersey)
Frank LoBiondo (New Jersey)
John McHugh (New York)
David Reichert (Washington)
Chris Smith (New Jersey)

If you live in “their” district, and you contacted them to vote “no” to yet another stifling charge to your pocketbook, you need to call them again and tell them how you feel about how they voted. Let them know that when they come up for re-election…they are gone…like your money!

We can’t give up…the Senate vote is coming up next! We must do all we can to stop this from passing…but when you call them to express yourself…DO NOT USE THE GENERAL NUMBER OF THE SENATE…USE THEIR WASHINGTON OFFICE NUMBER INSTEAD.

This is part of the problem, news station and radio stations were giving out the “general” numbers of the House and with millions calling in…the lines were always busy!

SO REMEMBER…CALL YOUR SENATE REPS OFFICE…NOT THE GENERAL NUMBER WHEN THE TIME COMES!

1. usa.gov
2. At top click on ’site index’
3. On left click on ‘fed government’
4. In center page click on senate
5. You can look up your Senator and under their name is their telephone number and/or their web page

START TODAY…AMERICA…AND KEEP CALLING EVERYDAY UNTIL THEY GET THE PICTURE ABOUT HOW MAD WE ARE ABOUT WHAT “THEY” ARE DOING TO HELP DESTROY AMERICA FROM WITHIN!
