Republican Senator: Sotomayor OK Barring ‘Meltdown’

AP: Senate Democrats praised Sonia Sotomayor as a judicial pioneer, but Republicans questioned her impartiality and President Barack Obama's views as well Monday at confirmation hearings for the nation's first Hispanic nominee to the Supreme Court. Even so, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Sotomayor, "Unless you have a complete meltdown, you're going to get confirmed." "And I don't think you will" have a meltdown, he added quickly.

Is impartiality easy to prove?

OK South Carolina, you see what you need to do. We have term limit option now in Nov 2010 if he is up for election. 2012 or 2016 if not.

Of course we have the RINOs like this because the locals never think their own poop stinks and keep putting their own poop-heads back in office. It’s always somebody else that is the problem. Look in the mirror, S.C..

American Republicans…again I am dismayed by those who claim to be Republicans and claim to represent the rest of us!

Lindsay Graham does not reflect my views on Sotomayer.

It makes me sick to hear…the phrase…on a continual basis…”we do not agree and have a problem with this or that…but then…we will probably vote for her”!

What…America?

If you have a problem with an area of someone’s rulings, and/or past, why would you then put them in the position you don’t feel they should be in?

Why?

Why…America…did the Senate approve of Timmie “tax evader” Geithner who was not qualified in any way to hold the position he holds.

Why did not the Congress hold his feet to the fire and not approve him based on his “tax evasion” and his poor performance in his previous position at the Federal Reserve that was to oversee the banking, mortgage and other financial interests in our country…that then failed under his tenure?

Why…America?

Al Franken, is the guy to stop the fillerbusting. It would be impressive to have Judge Borke in the Confirmation Gallery. Where those ahem “Legistrators” can see him, as they go through this process. Remember, they destroyed him in his confirmation, namely Kennedy, Hatch, and Lehey, and on and on the names go. I gurantee she would have a A+ Meltdown.

What YOU people need to comprehend is that is very important that a Hispanic woman, a woman that is qualified and is a color diffent than you is selected at Justice on the SCOTUS.

If you actually think that qualifications matter I laugh at you. What matters is that her heritage, her political views and her need to make right the sick and whites only injustices of the past 500 years.

jbh50   July 14th, 2009 - 8:17 am

anexio, you idiot. The only thing that is important is that she is qualified and how will she apply the law to any case that comes before her. That is why in the hearing today, they will examine her court decisions and ask her pointed questions regarding comments and ruling she has made…especially ruling that were over-turned.

Sorry race bater anexio. but ethnicity means nothing and I for one am sick of how everyone who isn’t a person of color (whatever the hell that means) has to delicately walk around for fear of offending someone aor for fear of (gasp) being called a RACIST.

awed   July 14th, 2009 - 8:24 am

I’m in awe that a person of color has made it to the SCOTUS. I was under the impression that in the 1960’s minorities had no rights and no opportunities to advance themselves let alone get an ivy league education. But I do not hear any praise for the country that gave her these chances only that she overcame prejudices to get were she is now. If she would be a little more grateful and less “I did all myself in such a racist country”, she would get more empathy.

Does she look a little scruffy or is it just my subliminal perception? Wish to h*ll she’d wash her hair once in a while.
