Rep. John Murtha Dies at 77

AP: A spokesman says Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a retired Marine Corps officer who became an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, has died. He was 77. He had been suffering complications from gallbladder surgery. In 1974, Murtha became the first combat veteran of the Vietnam War elected to Congress. He wielded considerable clout for two decades as a leader of the House subcommittee that oversees Pentagon spending. But frustration over the Iraq war led him to call for an immediate pullout of U.S. troops in 2005.

On the nice, positive side, it will reduce gummint pork by a tad or two. He held the record.
That’s about all the nice things I can think of. I even looked at my “hand writing” and checked with my Palm reader. Nothing more.

Because lets face it if Gore had won and gone to war with Iraq he would have shut his mouth. I hope he asked God to forgive him before he pasted because of what he did to those families of our outstanding young men, and women trying to protect Innocent human life from being slaughtered.

Or a few rogue Marines? Look up the guy’s biography, he’s done more for this country than any of you could hope. I would say you should be ashamed for kicking a dead guy, but you people wouldn’t know what the word shame means.

Rest in misery you slob!!! For what you and your “type” have done to the future generations of our country for your OWN SELFISH GREED shall never be forgotten in my head. There is no “sympathy” for men/women who would destroy the futures of our children. If this man had come to your house and set it on fire in front of your face… would you still have sympathy? For me… the answer is no and good riddance. Enjoy the hot tub.

Mhu Cao   February 8th, 2010 - 5:55 pm

Yo, BoBo the Bozo: Murtha and I fought for your right to speak and, yes, to make an ass of yourself. I put Murtha in the same ungrateful crowd as Kerry — vets who couldn’t wait to line their pockets because they were owed something. On a personal level, it’s a sad time for his family, for sure. From a political standpoint, though, Congress may gain a bit more balance without old Jack’s thumb on the scales. So, his passing may be a blessing after all.

By the way, the only “Cons” are liberals, who are either confidence people trying to shield Ponzi O’bumma from rightful criticism, or trying to con their neighbors out of their rights and their money.

Committed_Liberal   February 8th, 2010 - 5:56 pm

Hmmm, I wonder where George Bush was at the time of Murtha’s death.

JoJo   February 8th, 2010 - 6:02 pm

Chett B   February 8th, 2010 - 6:12 pm

Rest in peace, fellow Marine. I hope you are at rest now, and I pray this country can begin to repair the damage you’ve done to it. Semper fidelis.

legacy   February 8th, 2010 - 6:16 pm

Bobo, are you saying Murtha’s legacy is OUR fault? or Bush’s?

I think it was Murtha himself who had no shame… see the videos above. I agree that it isn’t polite to rejoice over the death of anyone, because as one poster said, we are all made in God’s image; however, there’s no way on earth we should celebrate a man who was for all intents and purposes a scoundrel. It’s a sober reminder that we all must die and answer to a higher authority, and a reminder that just because WE die, doesn’t mean our words and actions don’t live on in people’s memories. Let his pastor and family gloss over his faults, as the “public” we should do no such thing, for he was not our family or friend, but our tax funded servant sworn to uphold the Constitution and operate ethically. He didn’t. So these comments are our eulogy, and they reflect how WE the People felt about his LIFE (not his death).

Murtha could no longer be considered a former Marine. Ex-Marine yes for he is a huge disgrace to all of us who served for the things he has said. I served twice in Iraq as a member of the Marine corps and now am a former Marine. The Marines I know who have served in Iraq would have used murtha as a sand bag in combat if they had the chance. Sorry and not happy he died but yes his life and actions were shameful.

Every once in a while I stop by this pathetic “news” site to read what you angry hypocrites have to say. I always pick a story I know will really get all you idiots worked up in juicy lather. And once again, you morons never fail to bring a big ‘ol smile to my face. John Murtha was a Marine drill instructor at Parris Island. He volunteered for Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze star and 2 Purple Hearts. Personally, I could give a rats behind about anyones military service. I think anyone who would join the military is brainwashed and misguided with serious “daddy” issues. But I was always under the impression that you conservatives types got all misty in the drawers over the military, vets, guns, killing civilians, blowing stuff up, etc. Just because he he was in the democratic party he’s the object to all this hatred and he’s going to hell? Wow, conservative anger never cease to amaze me. It must stem from fear.

Pierce Randall   February 8th, 2010 - 10:45 pm

Some of you state John Murtha will go to hell, or that God otherwise condones his death, or condemned his life. Why would you think that? The controversial things Murtha said were hardly heretical or sinful, even if you disagree with him. At worst, you may think he strongly articulated mistaken beliefs.

A man you never met died. You don’t have to be respectful of that, I guess, but don’t say stupid things about it.

I wasn’t going to post to this issue, but the loser bedwetters like What, Stev1, Airwick, and Terry convinced me to do otherwise. The funny thing is that we Conservatives are brutally honest in our politics and our lives aspeaking the truth. They instead wear hypocrisy like a badge of honor nd speak the truth whether it be during one’s life or thereafter. The hallmark of the libs is the fact that they try to be so self righteous when one of their lot passes away and then hurl barbs at us for speaking the truth and staying true to our opinions. They seem to think that it is classy and upstanding to call someone every name in the book during the person’s lifetime and then act as if they found religion when one of thier own scum expires.

Did you know that John Kerry got 3 Purple Hearts in Viet Nam too. And was gone on out of there in less than 4 months. So, I have about as much praise and compassion for him as I did Murtha.
I respect the service of these two individuals (Although I question the validity of Kerry’s awards for ’scratches”) but thay have lost any respect of mine for their actions as members of Congress.
Their blatant and moralistic bad-mouthing of our troops in Iraq was just the last example
of putting themselves in the limelight at the expense of others. I had two brothers serve
there and lost 4 friends in Viet Nam too. One cannot fall back on their former accomplishments
while trying to run roughshod over the rest of us. People tend to remember these things….

To Whatwhatwhat, Airwick & Mark (the homo), do you three schumcks think that I’m going to
start show water-works from my two eyes for this lowlife Jack Murtha, you got another thing
coming you three, let me give the three of you a little history about Murtha, this guy
had the nerve to call our brave soldiers in Iraq terrorist, and all sorts of disgusting
names under the sun, the reason why this putz said that about our soldiers is because a
guy from Time Magazine by the name of “Tim McGirk” gave out nothing but lies to Murtha and
Murtha like the schumck he is took McGirk’s words like a naive little child. And also the
reason why he said that about our troops is because a few years ago he got alot of pork
barrell spending money from Nancy Pelosi, another thing Airwick, Mark & Whatwhatwhat, this
jackass also called his voter-base in Pennsylvania rednecks, racist, etc. he said that
two years ago during the campaigns, and also the reason why he got reelected in Pennsylvania
two years ago is because illegal-aliens where bused-in in order to vote for this friggin
lowlife. So the three of you can sit there and be dull as ever and hide away from the
truth, and I know that the truth hurts you leftist so much, as Einstein once said, “You won’t
know reality if it hits you in the face”, and boy do you left wingers need to be hit
in the face to see reality for what it is!

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder!!!

Good riddance to Murtha – a disgrace as a congressman and an ex marine. You should never say “May God strike me dead if I am lying”. lol
