Reid is simply ignorant. TARP prevented complete collapse of they system. It was forced on Congress and the Senate by explaining the alternative was a major Depression. Potential return on investment, by cutting dividend, and capital gains taxation, should have been raised to a level three to five points above inflation to bring back the two or three $ trillion companies and individual investors are currently leaving on the sidelines. US corporate tax rate should have been cut in half to pull in a greater proportion of the$ 5 to 6 trillion floating around internationally. If this was done US growth at this time would be between 5 and 6% at this point, over real inflation, unemployment would be well under 8%. We would be witnessing 4 – 500,000 new jobs created each month (net). Consider each time this approach has been done strong economic recovery has occurred within two months.
