President Carter is right, and I think it is wonderful he spoke what is on everyones mind. Being from Georgia, he knows what racism is.

I’ve lived in the Deep South my entire life. Of course it’s about race. And anyone who says it’s not is either one himself and can’t face the facts, or living in La La Land.

I’m am finally happy that someone of Jimmy Carter’s statue has come out and called this thing out for what it is RACISM. While someone wrote that “not all protests are racist” the ones we’ve seen over the last few months are. It’s one thing to disagree and it’s totally another thing altogether to hate. The tone of these protests have been bitter; beyond disagreement and truly scary. What does carrying guns have to do with ones objection to a particular policy? If anyone has seen some of the posters they need little or no evidence that this is truly the venom of racism coming to a head. I totally agree with Pres. Carter. Let’s call a spade a spade. Policy disagreement is one thing; Hatred is another and these people hate the fact that Barack Obama is president of the united states. If it looks like a duck; quacks like a duck and walks like a duck it is.

Rep. Wilson’s outburst broke Congressional decorum with his lake of self control, his can criticize the president any where else, talk shows, op-eds, anywhere, but not where he did it and how he did it. With that said Joe Wilson made a political calculation to play to the base that is now controlling the GOP, feeding there racism.

I’m tired of the rational, because President Obama was elected in the 1st place, this country is some how past racism. I’ve known people for 30 years, who I wouldn’t have deemed racist or extreme use the N word for the 1st time. One person I’ve known for decades was devastated by Obama’s election, convinced of a black take over.

Recently after this person and his wife got stuck in an intersection, he had to back up almost hitting a black woman crossing the street with her 2 children, she whacked the car to avoid getting run over. He claims she lost control, whacking the car again, denting it, which was easily repaired, she paid for the damage. Where this gets to be more than a simple traffic dispute is when he describes the woman as a n i # @ r, a term I’ve NEVER head him use before Obama was elected. What’s more disturbing is when he described the altercation to me, the President’s name come up, along with the N word and how easily it rolls of his tongue.

President Carter is one of the most intelligent men in this country. He is a southern gentleman who knows what he is talking about. If his comments bother some people, then he has hit the mark big time! He is a thousand percent correct!!!

The reaction from the right on this thread is pretty telling. Go ahead and insist that NONE of this is about r@ce. I cannot remember any Democratic president being vilified in the ways that this one is. Not even Clinton, despite the list of his alleged victims that was passed around during the impeachment era.

People didn’t carry loaded g*ns to his speeches.
People didn’t accuse him of being a “for3igner,” which is how people of color have been classically described by r@cists.
People didn’t accuse him of being a M*slim, another code word for “different.”
People didn’t force schools to not allow him to speak to children.
People didn’t call his wife and child monkeys.
Elected officials across the country didn’t email watermelon photographs around to colleagues.
Through two terms, I don’t remember an elected member calling him a li@r during a joint session.

I don’t remember elected federal officials declaring that their main purpose was to block and stop anything the man has to offer.

Too many firsts that intersect with the first Black presidency make things rather evident.
