Race Debate: White Beauty Queen at Black School Pens Plea to Obama

AFP: The "Homecoming Queen" at a traditionally black US university has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, complaining that her win had been questioned on campus because she is white.

But after her letter riled students at Hampton University in Virginia, beauty pageant winner Nikole Churchill issued a public apology, saying she had taken "the comments of a few and blew them out of all proportion."

We get to see once again how most blacks are racist.

quivive   October 16th, 2009 - 1:09 pm

She won, doesn’t that say something about the rapid evaporation of skin color as a divide in this nation. America is beautiful with all its colors. We need everyone participating to remain a great nation. The more we judge people on their character and not skin the more successful we shall be.

(”But after her letter riled students at Hampton University in Virginia, beauty pageant winner Nikole Churchill issued a public apology”)

So then after the racist thugs intimidated and bullied her, she apologized for telling what she knows to be the truth.

…and who the hell are any of them to tell her what she should be writing the president about?

Dereck   October 16th, 2009 - 1:23 pm

That is one hot white chick…

I think it shows strength for a black University to choose a white Homecomeing Queen.

They should be basking in that strength not deriding it.

That IS the strength of America.

“What goes around…. comes around”

Paul   October 16th, 2009 - 1:51 pm

Miss Churchill, you should never apologize for expressing outrage when black students voice bigotry against you because you are white. Those racists were wrong to to even suggest that a white homecoming queen can not represent a “black” college. How superficial, how racist, how evil. Even the label “black college” is racist. Would those same students be in agreement or outraged if white students expressed bigotry against a black homecoming queen at a “white college”. They are hypocrites.

hannajo   October 16th, 2009 - 1:52 pm

Did anyone tell them, it’s only a beauty pageant? I think the world will go on.

out the window   October 16th, 2009 - 1:54 pm

im not sure what all the complaining is about, I would think that she went to one of the people with the MOST

MTB   October 16th, 2009 - 1:56 pm

First of all, she has nothing to apologize for. Secondly, HAMPTON U should apologize for all of the racists black students that apparently have a problem with a white girl winning.

The whole thing is comecal…..

OK   October 16th, 2009 - 2:04 pm

Reverse racism doesn’t count.

Brian   October 16th, 2009 - 2:06 pm

It is rather telling, however, that many of the students in the video didn’t deny they were against this young woman due to her skin color. Again, she “can’t relate” to them. This is what race-baiting is all about.

Remember, if you will, how early on Mr. Obama was derided for being too light-skinned? Recall how he was not “down with the struggle”. Basically, he wasn’t “black enough” to related to real African Americans.

Something needs to change in the African American community. If you want an end to racism, BE the change. Don’t hide behind excuses- BE the damned change. Take pride in the fact that your University elected a non African American as Homecoming Queen rather than taking potshots at the young lady.

Realizing her dilemma, this young white student wrote to Mr. Obama for help in pleading the case of diversity. And yet again, the video shows the reaction from a female black student “Unless she’s talking to him about healthcare, she shouldn’t be writing any letters!”

Some things never change.

Gandhi's Fist   October 16th, 2009 - 2:07 pm

Wow, looks like some of those Blacks where quite racist. If that photo contained the contestants, then yes, they did choose the best looking girl for the job. Kind of odd that this would be the type of contest you’d see at a university. Howsabout a math queen or literature queen or science queen? Makes for sense for a seat of higher education to celebrate the beauty of the mind rather than outward appearance, especially a school that is predominantly black.

out the window   October 16th, 2009 - 2:12 pm

im not sure what all the complaining is about, I would think that she went to one person with the MOST resent public experence in this subject? color of skin issue, (not qualified to represents US???) why is thier something of an mostly black college not of private money, but of public money anyway? im mean i think one of the queens jobs would be about social changes. this is a college right a mecca of political correctness.

Touting her victory, she wrote a letter to President Obama calling her win, “the best night of my life.”

She added that her crowning “was not widely accepted” on campus “because the color of my skin.” She wrote, “I am not African-American”

In the letter she asked Obama to come speak at Hampton University “so that my fellow Hamptonians can stop focusing so much on the color of my skin and doubting my abilities to represent, but rather be proud of the changes our nation is making towards accepting diversity.”

Her win and subsequent letter ignited a fire of debate around campus

Yo, I am going to go out on a limb here, but I think based off your comment, “We get to see once again how most blacks are racist”, I believe you harbor racist feelings yourself.

DJ   October 16th, 2009 - 2:54 pm

Give me a break!!!!! The black girls are just mad cause the black boys voted for a white chick

davidj   October 16th, 2009 - 2:54 pm

This is a great study in the fundimentals of the black – white issue. Most people are threatened by others who they feel may be perceived as “smarter or prettier or taller or whatever” than them. Most women I’ve know automatically don’t like cheerleaders – too pretty? – get too much attention? Take your pick. Skin color is just an easy way to differentiate people. Ask anyone, black or white, to discribe someone and one of the first things you will get is their skin color (unless they’ve been beaten silly with the PC stick). At a base level there’s nothing wrong with that – it’s just a physical characteristic. But, too many people have gotten in the habit of blaming their failures on someone else’s skin color. Two things perpetuate bigotry. People’s predudices and people’s insecurities. Our society rejects one and preys on the other. The result is that no progress will ever be made unless people begin to recognize and call the race baters and hate mongers for what they are. So come on girls, let Nicole know that you don’t hate her because of her skin color, but because you’re threatened because she might turn your boyfriend’s head…and get over it.

CqmmqnSense   October 16th, 2009 - 3:00 pm

And yet another example of the Liberal Race Baiting Hypocrisy – this poor girl needs to be told it’s acceptable to be treated like a second class citizen and be harrased by racists – IF YOU’RE WHITE! The ignorance of these people who feel reverse discrimination is ok is disgusting.
THIS is OBAMA’S NEW AMERICA!
Barack Hussein Obama and Black People HATE WHITE PEOPLE!

ExGreenBeret   October 16th, 2009 - 3:08 pm

NOW we’re seeing who the REAL racists are. Let them continue uncontested on this path and you will see a bloodbath similar to Rhodesia/Zimbabwe.

myleftbrain   October 16th, 2009 - 3:13 pm

Just exchange the word black for white, change the skin color of all the parties involved, and what do you have? Pure unadulterated racism. But where’s the outrage? I’ll tell you, it’s the mindset that minorites cannot be racist by definition, because they are not in a position to act upon it or do anything about it. They can have bigoted feelings, but because they are a minority, that by definition excludes racism. Just ask Jesse Jackson, I think he’s the one responsible for that philosophy gaining credence.

Bob   October 16th, 2009 - 3:29 pm

Could you imigine the fallout if the woman were black and a mostly white univiversity and she wrote Obama about racist remarks? The Jessie and Al show would be all over the news. Blacks are held to a different standard and can say anything they want. Blacks are racist.

Whitey   October 16th, 2009 - 4:15 pm

You have to be kidding me. She won, those black students are rascist. Plain and simple. Rascist loser blacks. She has nothing to apologize for

ggdgd   October 16th, 2009 - 4:26 pm

I am so sick of hearing about skin color from black people….get on with your life.

Bonhomme   October 16th, 2009 - 4:27 pm

Yeah, because how could a black girl win at an all white school…oh wait. And how dare she write a letter that doesn’t only support health care?

What universe is this? I think I got off on the wrong bus.

the winner is...   October 16th, 2009 - 5:03 pm

She won because the black judges love white women

jamie burlingame   October 16th, 2009 - 5:25 pm

If its an all black college and she was VOTED in as homecoming queen, why cry about it now……….Many people must have voted for her and liked her so get over it. Anyways, I wonder why all the women that are complaining about it didn’t run for queen.

John   October 16th, 2009 - 5:59 pm

One student says “they feel like its not someone that would represent us… We’re not the same skin color, how can we relate?” What an imbecile! US white population is 79% (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html), so using her logic, it makes no sense to elect Obama! hmmm, maybe she’s not an imbecile after all…

ProudBlackMan   October 16th, 2009 - 6:50 pm

What’s that white girl doing in an all black school to begin with ? And who where the judges of this contest, they should be brought in to question.

John Jamison   October 16th, 2009 - 7:03 pm

Hey so called “Proud Black Man” what makes you think it’s ok to have an “All Black School” ? This is America clown.. You would be the first one in line trying to tear down an all white anything. Tired of the double standard that pervades the racist black world.

red carolina   October 16th, 2009 - 7:09 pm

poor fool — she thought Obama really was a post-racial president? hahahahahhahahaha She’s getting a huge taste of reverse racism

Bart   October 16th, 2009 - 8:01 pm

Know of any black beauty queens at all white schools? oh yeah, there are no all white schools.

charles   October 16th, 2009 - 8:06 pm

Gee, sounds like most of the blacks interviewed were in fact expressing a purely racist point of view. “Can’t relate becuase of skin color”, She doesn’t represent the school because she is not black… Can you be any more racist.

MUCK FEXICO II   October 16th, 2009 - 8:08 pm

Isn’t she the president of the White Student Union?

jdog   October 16th, 2009 - 8:49 pm

If a white person said what came out of the mouths of some of these black students… they would have been labeled racist. ON the other hand… many of the black students commented respectfully and without guile. Congrats to them for overcoming the race barrier… something most white people had to learn to do a generation ago.

nothampton   October 16th, 2009 - 8:49 pm

Wait, if the letter was sent to Mr. Obama why did he disclose it to others?
And also, what is wrong in addressing diversity in a mostly black college.
Hypocrisy should be a subject for the University. Then again, is diversity only for those
who are not white?

Eyes Wide Open   October 16th, 2009 - 9:04 pm

It’s good to see that white America is experiencing the rascism that is part and parcel of the black population. For those of us who work in areas that deal primarily with blacks this is a Godsend.

missedpoint   October 16th, 2009 - 9:28 pm

You miss all the key points. First, a majority black student body elected her. Those who are screaming racism now are probably the same who claim Obama’s election means that racism isn’t prevalent anymore. Second, there is probably a concern about putting white standards of beauty above all others. This has always been a concern and is why light skin and “good hair” are seen as more desirable by a lot of African American’s. I can understand why, in a society where the beauty of black women is judged by how “white” their features are, people would be concerned about a white woman winning a beauty pageant at a historically black university. Remember why that university is historically black in the first place- it’s because African American’s weren’t allowed to attend white universities and had to start their own. With that history I can see why it is threatening to see a white person become the face of the university. It’s like a white guy taking charge of an Indian reservation.

Parker1227   October 16th, 2009 - 10:22 pm

For years the leftist race industry has stomping all over Martin Luther King’s dream.

How do you expect people to get over color differences when you have a professional “victims” industry that advances its goals by organizing people based on color (or sex or whatever)?

Dopey leftist “intellectuals” actually try to excuse their race based organizations by claiming that only those in power (or in the majority) are capable of being racist.

Fricking idiots.

bigots, racists, haters – if it was the other way around everyone would cover the story – the largest crimes dealing with slavery still happen today and it is black on black, that no one in the media cares about.

Dave   October 16th, 2009 - 11:47 pm

LOL – that “she doesn’t represent us because she’s not black” line just says it all, doesn’t it?

Jason   October 17th, 2009 - 12:04 am

She was stupid to write a letter to the President but it is so sad that race is even an issue. As long as race pimps like Jackson and Sharpton make a living by dividing people because of the color of their skin we will continue to have “racism” in the US.

frankly   October 17th, 2009 - 12:34 am

The idiots complaining about it are the ones with the problem. But lets not forget she did win at an all-black school, meaning some blacks had to vote for her.

Yeah, uh huh. That's right.   October 17th, 2009 - 12:57 am

Must have passed under radar for al and jessie. You would think they would have protested a white girl getting selected Miss Hampton University at that all black school. al and jessie should protest this occurence for all it’s worth.

Kevin   October 17th, 2009 - 1:01 am

I guess we are back to the days during my stay in San Diego, after the Rodney King/L.A Riots were finally over. All the black people kept saying “It’s a black thing, you wouldn’t understand”

Change some were stupid enough to believe in………………. Including the idiot girl who did not have the coping skills to deal with something like this. Who in the hell writes a president, especially Obama, to come to her rescue? Diversity is DESTROYING our country. No, you knuckleheads, not the fact that we have diversity, but what the far left has shoved down our collective throats, ALL IN the name of diversity. It is a TOOL, in which to re-distribute wealth, hard earned jobs, and what is left of our country identity.

V. Reason   October 17th, 2009 - 1:09 am

Ya! That’s crazy that a white girl won at a black school! Outrageous! Just like black girls shouldn’t win at white schools! Well . . . uh . . . wait a minute, they should! Or . . . well, hmmmm. I guess it would be racist to demand that a black girl should win at a majority black school, just as it would be racist to demand that a white girl win at a majority white school.

I guess that college isn’t doing a very good job in the “humanities” department if the students all believe this baloney. Maybe all these whiners need to go to a white school? No, actually they should ALL–black, white, yellow, brown–go to a school that’s not in the south! I’m afraid that therein lies the problem.

tommy richards   October 17th, 2009 - 7:39 am

it is very apparent everytime left-wingers, commies and socialists and other pro-government advocates put forth unsubstantiated arguments especially when the `black’ voting base could be in jeopardy, race is the counter or off-set method of attack is used. fortunately this strategy and tactic are getting old and quickly losing political value. but can’t wait for the next heart tugging, pro marxist `anti-factual’ phrase to evolve that will used by democrats for countering and offsetting reality.

jman   October 17th, 2009 - 9:59 am

Ahhhh….the ‘ol double standard!! Why is everyone complaining–don’t you know the rule?. ‘Only white people can say racist things’. Somebody wake up Jesse and Al. They have some spin doctoring to do on this one. Let’s see…yes..I’ve got it! How about that the white girl who won is racist for daring to compete in the pageant in the first place. And…um…the black guys who voted for her have been conditioned by society into thinking that white girls are more beautiful. Oh yeah… something about slavery too. Somebody get a mic!

JP   October 17th, 2009 - 10:13 am

Those black male students will take white girl over black anytime.
Black women need to have that white blood to look good.
Show me ONE all black singer, actor, model that’s all black that is pretty.

If she isn’t dating a black guy, which she is, she don’t get this.

rufus levin   October 17th, 2009 - 1:01 pm

Message to all white kids. Black college kids do not want you to attend THEIR colleges because they only wanted integration if it made them get better freebies than the white folks. If you invade their PRIVATE entitlement community, they will attack you with hatred and insults. That is the RACISM of the generation forced upon the community by the Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson race baiters, and promoted by the ACLU and black advocates. Merely go back to Malcome X and the Black Panther’s history, and you will see the true nature of the black folks in America TODAY….Martin Luther King was a peaceful man, but he was shilled to get the Kennedys and LBJ to force integration through the Federal Courts to give not equality but PRIVILEGE to blacks OVER whites….and now, having ruined the American educational system, subverted the justice system, and gained superiority of jobs and admission into all American Schools and Goverenment jobs…they want to protect their turf. That is why they elected a black president…not to get a quality leader, but to gain POWER over the nation’s whites.

Sorry, but this is the truth…and Virginia is deep south…a thorn in the side of the Congressional Black Caucus and the ACLU.

Don’t go to Black colleges…they are all substandard and smell bad, and the kids are pretenders to education and the teachers are liberal race baiters. There are plenty of colleges where the admissions based upon intelligence will cull out the equal opportunists that demand entrance based upon the color of their skin rather than the quality of their committment to education.

charleston   October 17th, 2009 - 1:06 pm

WONDER IF OBAMA WILL HAVE ALL OF THE GIRLS COME TO THE WHITE HOUSE FOR A BEER AND AN EDUCATIONAL, TEACHING MOMENT?

Ray Ray   October 17th, 2009 - 1:26 pm

White girls shouldn’t be winning no awards at a black school, white people get all the attention everywhere else, thats why we NEED a black school, to raise us up frm the struggle. Its not racist its just fair! We would be happy in Africa if not for the racist slave traders!!

mightymouse   October 17th, 2009 - 3:15 pm

Almost 150 years since the Civil War ended; yet bigotry has not been erased. Almost 50 years since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. uttered his famous phrase about the content of one’s caracter being more important than the color of one’s skin. Its time to move on America. Its time to put racism and bigotry behind us. Can Barack Obama represent ALL Americans, even though he is bi-racial? Of course he can!!! Can a white woman represent an ALL black college of women? Of course she can, and for the same reasons!!!

Truthie   October 17th, 2009 - 3:25 pm

Having her win should be the story. The reactions to her winning is sad. I agree with the poster who said the mean comments came from women jealous of her win.

racist black mouthbreathers in action

PAMMY, NEW YORK   October 17th, 2009 - 4:40 pm

First I must say that I am black. Then I have to say after listening to these young black students I am appalled! What a little bunch of racists THEY are and that young woman, Lauren King, who challenged their beauty queen’s “right” to contact the president? How dare she, who is little miss bigot? When I was in college, this sort of thing was going on with the black students, they were pushy and thuggish then and now even more so. What is really pitiful is the fact that they are in an “all black” college and that doesn’t seem to bother them, instead they are proud of this fact and do not see the contradiction, at all!!?? Funny I noticed it even when I was 5-6 yrs old; it didn’t make sense to me then and now at 60 yrs old it still doesn’t. I thank GOD everyday that I had a father who could explain the wacky illogical reasoning of black of people. WOW!

commie   October 17th, 2009 - 4:55 pm

Anyway, it is not racism. They just don’t like her because she is a socialist!!!!!

Yeah, that’s it. Those students are patriots.

OBAMA BLOCKS ACCESS TO HIS DOCUMENTS
Here is a list of documents which Obama refuses to release.
Obama pays millions a Law Firm to keep his BC secret and in a vault,
Why if that $10 document is valid and legal?
Why?
This is very disturbing since it appears Obama does not want us to know who he really is or how radical he might be.
It’s about us US citizens trying to vet our “supposed” president!!! It’s about other documents Osama Hussein Obama has spent over $1.4 million to block access to:
1. Occidental College records — Not released
2. Columbia College records — Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper — “not available”
4. Harvard College records — Not released
5. Selective Service Registration — Not released
6. Medical records — Not released
7. Illinois State Senate schedule — “not available”
8. Law practice client list — Not release
9. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate — Not released
10. Embossed, signed paper Certification of Live Birth — Not released
11. Harvard Law Review articles published – None
12. University of Chicago scholarly articles – None
13. Your Record of baptism– Not released or “not available”
14. Your Illinois State Senate records–”not available”
15.- Trip to Pakistan for indoctrination records, off limits
If this was the list of a conservative or just someone who the media does not claim to be the Messiah, heads would roll…
Here is Obama’s true Birth Certificate:

Had this been a mostly white college and the first African American was named the “Miss Univ.” and folks had protested her achievement….well…..it would be considered racist. The NAACP would descend like an invading army. The Justice Department would have been notified. What a double standard.

John   October 17th, 2009 - 10:53 pm

These black students are LOSERS!!! Always will be! How did they find out about the Obama letter anyhow???????

Smilecandy   October 17th, 2009 - 11:35 pm

Take a look at the picture. I’m sure she won because she is a very pretty girl. The girl to the left at least has a smile on her face, which makes her look prettier than the 2 girls on her right. What pusses! They look angry which makes them ugly, inside and out.

Plain as day   October 18th, 2009 - 7:14 am

The girl to her left (our right) looks madder than a hornet. How is that acting like a beauty queen? Or a runner up?

STF   October 18th, 2009 - 8:06 am

She just seems like a ‘typical white person’ to me. Sorry girl, your going under the bus! (With BHO’s grandma.)

Betsy M.   October 18th, 2009 - 9:25 am

The fact is that black women want to be moved to the top of the list when it comes to job promotions, etc., and included in “the big picture”, but want to separate themselves from whites when it benefits them.

It can’t be that way. Either blacks want to be fully integrated with the rest of society or they do not. It’s as simple as that. Stop with the “black so-and-so organizations” and become a part of the big picture. Stop trying to have it all and give none. It’s all for one and one for all, folks..or at least that’s the way it SHOULD be. How about seeing yourselves as plain old Americans, and give up this perpetual whining about other races? Don’t you see how it’s hurting only you when you continue to remove yourself from the “melting pot”? This world is changing, as is our country, and you can either join in or be left behind. It’s your choice. Can’t you just be glad for someone for winning? How about the fact that she WANTED to attend a black college? It’s whining and complaining that whites don’t want to accept blacks on one hand, and on the other, whining and complaining when they make an effort to unite. Just what is it that you DO want?

sammy   October 18th, 2009 - 10:51 am

where’s Al Sharpton.

PFN   October 18th, 2009 - 11:23 am

1) If this is a college only for Black people, then how did she get to be a student there in the first place?
2) Aren’t there laws against having a school ONLY for one race or another?
3) Why don’t they bitch at the people who voted her as queen instead of at her for winning? I mean….she didn’t make herself queen now did she?
4) Or were the Black judges for the contest trying to make a statement that we are “post-racial” by voting for a white queen, same as all the White voters were making a statement by voting for a Black president?
5) And what the hell does she mean that the girl “has no right sending a letter to the President, unless its about healthcare..”? Why? Do have to be Black to send letters to the President now? Is he only the President for Black Americans and no one else? Holy Sh*t!! The ignorance that spews from these students is amazing.

Bubba C   October 18th, 2009 - 11:35 am

Funny how black racists sound like white racists. Whenever you here a comment go like this, “Well, I don’t have a problem with a white/black being (fill in the blank), BUT……………………….”
Who voted for her anyway if it’s a black school?
And, can you imagine the reaction if a black student at a predominately white school wanted Obama to come to town to talk about diversity and the white students were against it?
It’s getting very old and tiring.

Joe Wright   October 18th, 2009 - 2:08 pm

If this is an all black school, then who voted for the white girl? Do you think maybe a white version of ACORN stuffed the ballot box with the names of dead alumni?

Can’t you just hear the talk in the black girl’s dormitory?

“Latisha, you would had made a betta queen dan her!” “You go tell me dat dey couldn’t find one perty black girl to be da queen?” “I don’t tink so!” (followed by the double Z snap and associated side-to-side head move)

I am white. I was born outside of US and so 1st black person in US embassy in my country. I suffered from racism myself. And I know exactly what it is.

Watch a video and at about 1 min and 50 sec marker black lady named Chelsey Trammell admits that majority of the black students thinks that: “We are not the same skin color. How we can relate.”
If this majority is not a bunch of racists, then someone explain me what racism is.

rick leland   October 19th, 2009 - 1:11 am

I have a dream, that one day my children may go to college with your children..
I have a dream, that a man would be measured by the content of his character not the color of his skin.

I am not sure some 40 years later just who this sermon is for any suggestions?

Howard University = Racist University.

Student body justification for disapproval? “She can’t represent, because she’s not black”.

US Blacks are the most prejudiced people in North America, perhaps the world, though Arabs are pretty bad too.

The saddest part of all of this is that she thought the Executive Branch of the Federal government could/should do *something* about this.

Unfortunately she’s been brought up to see the government as the arbiter of first resort.

This speaks volumes about her education.

This country is in trouble if all the youth of America think in this smae manner.

I would like to know how she got selected to be the Queen in the first place. Was she elected by the student body, was she selected by a commitee of some sort. I would hope that we could get past the issue of skin color and select people based on the content of their character and not the color of their skin–even at Hampton.

Take every comment that the black students made…make the students white;
Make the school a traditionally white college…Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson would be there in a heartbeat screaming “RACISM!!”

This shows the prevailing double standard concerning racism in America and that a good many blacks are racist and even raised with a racist ideology. However let’s not assume all or most blacks are racist because of this incident and make the same mistake that most blacks are taught by assuming all or most whites are inherently racist. This does show a good example of a bunch of bigots in a bigot school that teaches bigotry. The excuses that she doesn’t live on campus and goes to a satellite school as reasons why she couldn’t represent are just BS too. It’s because she is white and the excuses are just poor attempts to cover blatant racism. People really need to start standing up and demanding the promotion of real and EQUAL civil rights and the abolishment of these racist, fraudulent or otherwise outdated organizations. On the positive side: some of the people voted for her and I’m sure that some respect and even applaud her victory in this breakthrough of diversity as they should. So there is a silver lining to this story you just have to look for it if you’re so inclined.

A young, black gang banger called me a cracker as I walked past him. I told him that he was being racist. He said, “I’m not racist, I’m black.” It was so profound and so telling. The girls in those videos give me the same impression as he did. They are so confident that their racism is completely acceptable. I actually appreciate the fact that they’re so brazen in their racism. Not only will you be able to see a racist coming from a mile away, it will make it so much easier for people to win reverse-discrimination law suits against them in their future careers.

I can totally understand how the African American students may feel about someone who is not Aftican American representing a Historically Black College/University as Queen. They see her as having no idea of the struggle nor the history. We as African Americans have often said “those white people don’t have any idea of our past or how we feel etc.” The way I see it if they (white people) are willing…then teach them, tell them, help them to understand our beautiful skin and history. If that young lady is sincere about representing a Historically Black College then allow her to do so…she needs your( the african american student body) support! If her intent to enter the pagent for any other reasons outside of sincerity it’ll surface through her actions. I am a former College Queen and I was the first African American Queen at this particular College in Louisiana, where the majority was Caucasian. I fullfilled my duties with the assistance of the student body, who were very supportive through out my entire rain. I was a local hero to my fellow African Americans, because I was the first…They were proud and our counterparts were just as proud. Same difference folks. As for those who are being ugly to each other on this site that’s mean. You are name calling and its disgusting. You can’t talk about fairness, then be calling ugly names or make ugly statements. You can’t defend right and at the same time your actions are wrong. Good Luck Folks!

“Star”…. you are so full of it. You had your 15 minutes at a historically white college and here you are whining. There is a difference between you and the “Homecoming Queen” at Hampton University. She won her title because she deserved it and you won because you’re black.
