What’s his affliction that he needs marijuana in the first place? The reason why a whole generation of young people, middle aged, and even many Baby Boomers are using and turning to illegal substances to cope with life is because they are void of fulfillment in their own lives and illegal (and prescription) drugs provide an easy escape from their misery – and from reality. There is a God shaped vacuum in the human heart and only God can fill that void.

And the reason millions of Americans are hooked on illegal drugs is because our borders continue to be as porous as ever and there are literally millions of “tons” of narcotics and other illegal drugs making their way into the United States on a yearly basis. When black tar heroin costs next to nothing and is so potent a minuscule amount can kill you before the needle is removed from your arm and/or croaking from smoking just a tiny amount, then you know America is in the fight of its life for the very survival of our kids and our future generations. Illegal drugs are a plague and a menace to society and this guy in the video proves it.

Barack Obama has recently been quoted by Senator Jon Kyl as saying that he [Obama] WANTS our borders to continue to be “unsecured” (porous) and that Obama would never consider securing our borders unless “illegal” immigrants are first guaranteed unequivocal amnesty beforehand and then he – “may” consider it afterward. In the meantime, drugs continue to flow freely into the U.S. from Mexico and Canada and the Mexican drug lords are basically ’slapping us silly’ on our southern borders with increasing violence spilling into the United States causing massive chaos and leaving untold destruction in its wake. The ONLY way to stifle the flow of illegal drugs and illegal contraband into the United States and stop the ever increasing violence and destruction is: WE MUST “SECURE” OUR BORDERS!! And Obama and crew are DOING “NOTHING” to achieve that goal! Medical Marijuana and Industrial Hemp the absolute need to legalize it.

Medical Marijuana talks have increased over the past few years but know may be the time to open talks again with the states as well as our current administration although would rather see this a States issue and States issue only.
The past year our economy in this country has dropped to lows that haven’t been seen in decades. The economy has been at a decline for years and has know reached a low. I believe my proposal to legalize State Controlled Legalized Medical Marijuana will save not only our economy but also help the sick and disabled.
Some of our number one cost that is bankrupting this country is high payments for medical treatment. The cost of prescription drugs are now so expensive the middle class is having a hard time paying and the poor segment of our population are unable to afford the medications they need to fight illnesses and ease the suffering of millions of people.
Medical Marijuana is now legal in 15 states for Medical usage. If the Medical Marijuana is controlled similar to other prescriptions where the doctor gives the final say on who gets the medication or not and then have them go to a dispersery to purchase the natural herb the state could add on a tax revenue which is what our state needs most desperately but it would also greatly benefit the disabled afflicted with horrible diseases and other maladies. Hemp could also be used for building supplies because the finished product is 6 times stronger than cement and 4 times lighter. Building would be much safer from tornados and other natural events. The supply of hemp would be cheaper than cement and safer. Clothes and hundreds of other products could be used to make things. Doctors would be able to study Medical Marijuana closely and use it for finding cures to Cancer, and HIV along with any other illness.

Right now I feel that any politician from the Left, Right, Tea Party candidate would go along way if they can get this bill to pass. They would also push their party ahead of bipartisan ideas that the majority of voters would agree on.
I am bothered by all the news Toyota is receiving about the latest problem that have affected less than one thousand people but Medical Marijuana which would benefit millions is nowhere in the state news and rarely makes a blip on the media channels. Why is this?
Are buyers who die in Toyota Crashes more important than people who die daily while undergoing chronic illnesses are not helped? I am really wondering if our Governor cares about the tax payers who have worked all their life and then locked up when purchasing a natural plant that helps them maintain a meaningful life. I am not asking that Marijuana be legalized for everyone to partake in but I would love to see Medical Marijuana become available to people who need it to survive. Our State Governor should be the first to allow Medical Marijuana.
Our State government doesn’t mind taxing every worker to pay for health care for people who don’t have it but he will not allow the same tax payers to smoke a natural herb to help in their daily lives. Please send this email to everyone you know in the government.

never leave a child/children alone with any pot smoker. if there is a pot smoker in the home always make sure a non-pot smoker is there to supervise the children.

i am not saying all p-smokers are the same but i have seen enough to know there is a real need for concern as far as children are concern. always put children’s safety first and above anything that gives an adult pleasure or anything else. the child ALWAYS comes first.

When it is okay for us to shoot without consequence the impaired driver that kills our sppouse of child, or fire on sight the impaired slug worker with no questions asked, or shoot the thieving basturd lowlife that steals to support his habit and slovenly ways, or allow to starve the reckless druggie that can’t feed or house himself, and forever remove and then neuter the fogged over parent that abuses and neglects his family because drugs are just so important to them, then we will be in a free society with justice for all, the many unencumbered by the few, and I’d say fork your stinking brain up all you want.

But we are not in that world, the good people already have many impaired Americans they’re being forced to care for at great expense and detriment to their own families, so I oppose all new drugs of abuse. And that is what they are drugs of abuse, used by drug abusers, who find the fogged up state so important and alluring they’d risk jail, poverty, ridicule, harrassment, and the lives of others to satisfy that need to be altered from the hideous person they are.

Pot-heads are a burden, too forking impaired to recognize it or care.

How do you make a gun owner behave like the Brady Campaign? Mention drug legalization. It’s as if all objectivity goes out the window. It’s why I’m convinced that liberty will not win out should power make a drastic change of hands. Too many of us are not libertarians, but just stuffy conservatives.

The number of misconceptions about pot is astonishing. Pot use abuses no one. Far from being a cause of cancer, it is being shown to do quite the opposite, preventing or reversing cancers of various types. It can completely stop the shaking in even the worst cases of MS. Most of all, it certainly does not make you a deadbeat. I attend a top university, and most of my friends smoke like chimneys. They are more or less constantly high, but are maintaining 4.0s in things like Nursing, Engineering, English/Teaching, and Chemistry. Potheads who are lazy and unsuccessful would be that way whether or not they smoked. Excessive use is a symptom, not a cause.

Issues like this makes me think that my fellow Breitbart viewers might actually deserve the common criticism that they are full of hate for things that are different. You can’t see past this man’s hair and beard, even though he is extremely well spoken and supports himself by working with his hands. How is he an ignorant hippy?

Remember the lessons of prohibition. People will do what they want, and judge for themselves the costs and benefits. The rest of you can bugger off.

Well all I can say is that I’m not really surprised by the ratio of educated responses versus not-so-educated opinions. The “patient” indicated that he has two businesses which provide him with sufficient income so as to allow for the bank to give him a mortgage on a home. Furthermore he must be paying his child support with regularity (no mention made of any alimony which is beside the point I guess), or he would have rather significant legal issues in addition to his visitation rights being curtailed. So the point many have made about his (or anyones’) “judgment” being impaired by consumption of THC is dubious at best. Many notable figures in our past and current “world” are outspoken consumers (doctors, lawyers, professors, actors, artists, …) so this argument is weak and based on what brainwashing has been provided to each person at home/church/school. These pillars of our communities are contributing members of our greater society and have brought nothing less than good things to bear. Balancing the argument by bringing them into the equation helps minimize legitimacy of complaints based on this individuals appearance (Rastafarian hair).

The next problem I find with many of the comments on here is the prospect of gov’t having the authority, right and obligation to enact and enforce rules (a.k.a. legislation) to protect our children from this evil plant. Well to be honest with the group, I’m more concerned about protecting my children from the evil that the legislators are involved with than any plant that God Him/Herself, in His/Her infinite wisdom, put on our planet. I think He/She takes imminent domain over man at his/her worse (i.e. vis-a-vis the Executive and Legislative branches of our gov’t). Graft and corruption are rampant at the Federal/State/Local levels, and ignorance is the “get out of jail free card” our elected officials carry. But people actually get upset when a corporate executive pulls his/her card out (think BP recently in front of Congressional committee).

So all this bickering about a non-noteworthy citizen who happens to have some disease (read: dis-ease) for which the medical profession in his State (this is by no means a minor decision that was taken to issue him with a card for production & consumption) provided him with respite from his (likely terminal) condition can be summed up by the axiom that all opinions like like the anus. Everyone has one, and everyones’ is guaranteed to stink.

My personal stink says that the guy isn’t causing anyone else harm, so leave him alone. “Live free or die” as we say in my neck of the woods!

Kay is so misinformed, and sadly, most of the American people are. She quotes medical effects of “drugs” on genetics without any basis. Btw, to extend them to pot is ludicrous (and this aspect of science is very poorly understood to begin with). As far as long term brain damage, very slight effects have been noticed after long term use, but as compared to say chronic alcoholism which causes extensive brain damage it’s effects are negligible.

As for actual research on the effects of pot smoking on health – there is very little because it’s illegal btw, – but finally a real study came out of UCLA in which a good sized pot smoking population was tracked over years. The findings were stunning. Even though there are some similar carcinogens to what is present in cigarette smoke, the pot smokers reported no higher incidence of lung cancer and emphysema than non-smokers. Regular pot smokers do have other respiratory issues like coughing and congestion, but pot smoking is nothing like cigarette smoking in it’s lethality. Many smoke pot and tobacco. It takes years of smoking to get lung cancer. Even then, most tobacco smokers don’t get lung cancer.

Your ignorance reminds me of that awful Insane Clown Posse song Miracles. You state some “facts,” then can’t back it up saying that scientists are biased. From my research, pot and tobacco have the same carcinogenic properties. The difference is all in how much you consume.

That said, if the conservatives campaign to end the drug war on everything but meth and crack cocaine ($1 billion a week, plus it funds most gang activity), they’d win by such a margin it wouldn’t be funny. Right now they’re just losing support over the oil spill deal. Republicans still have a lot of time to say/do stupid stuff before elections come around, and no, liberals aren’t scared one bit about it.

wow i cant believe america is populated by such idiots. i’m in college, i’ve smoked weed for years now and im probably more accomplished with my life right now than most of you hillbilly conservatives who got knocked up when you were 16. i’ve actually done way harder drugs than just marijuana but im not pushing for those to be legalized (maybe with the exception of mdma and mushrooms which are also having very positive results treating things like post traumatic shock syndrome for soldiers who are still fighting the idiotic war you conservatives started). simple fact is that most of you are misinformed ignorant fools who speak before you do any research into the claims you make. fools like you claim that drugs like oxycotyn/morphine/vicodin, all highly addictive potentially life ruining drugs, are safer to use to manage pain than marijuana which has no physically addictive properties. and NO YOU DONT HAVE TO SMOKE MARIJUANA, YOU CAN EAT IT OR VAPORIZE IT WITH THE SAME EFFECTS. i’ve met plenty of pot users who are way better parents, and more successful with their lives than a lot of you child/wife beating conservatives.

The level of ignorance on display here about cannabis (that’s what it’s called, you fools) is astounding. When an individual decides whether or not to consume a drug, they must weigh the potential benefit of that drug versus the potential consequences. That decision must be based on the individual characteristics of the substance in question. It’s not rational to list side effects of completely unrelated drugs just because they’re both illegal. Despite the insane ramblings of some people above, cannabis is not comparable, in any way, to drugs like OxyContin or heroin. They’re different, OK? Cannabis is also not comparable to drugs like Ibuprofen, which kill thousands of Americans every year, while cannabis kills no one. And finally, cannabis does not impair one’s ability to operate a motor-vehicle. This has been confirmed by numerous studies, some of which were commissioned by anti-drug government agencies, which then tried to suppress the scientific results. The truth is that cannabis is a relatively harmless recreational drug that is both less addictive and less harmful than caffeine. It is MUCH less harmful than alcohol. Anyone who supports legalized alcohol while also supporting cannabis prohibition is either misinformed, or lacks intelligence.

Moderate cannabis usage does not impair one’s ability to properly raise a child, and no one should lose their children over something so ridiculous.

I have one final word of wisdom. Don’t listen to anyone who uses the word “dope” to describe cannabis, or any other psychoactive substance. In my experience, people who use the word “dope” to describe recreational drugs have learned everything they know about drugs from government propaganda.

This video illustrates the problem we are having in this society concerning civil rights and health care. Marijuana has proven to be an effective and safe medicine for many ailments that has no harmful side effects, unlike the drugs pushed by the big drug companies. I believe that it is a tragedy that this poor guy had his kids taken by a tyranical and mis-guided government but he is not alone in being denied his civil rights because he uses marijuana.

No one ever died from smoking pot. The only side affects are the munchies, and you might want to take a nap. OH NO! There is a big different between harder drugs (crack, heron) and weed. Even prescription drugs can kill you..of course if they’re misused. You drink and drive..you could kill many people. Most people who use for medicinal purposes don’t use it to get stoned and veg out…they take a few hits to QUICKLY relieve their symptoms. Just like other prescription drugs. My boyfriend,for example, uses medical marijuana because he can’t keep food down (among other medical problems) after having his stomach split open. He takes a few hits after he eats and he can go on with his day without spending an hour in the bathroom being miserable. People who disagree with it obviously aren’t very educated on the subject and should be a little more open minded. If it didn’t work then why do you think it’s being approved for medical use?

Check the fridge…….is there food? Check the kids………..are there broken bones, lash marks, any forms of physical abuse? I must say; I am a HUGE advocate to legalize Marijuana. In every way. It should be as legal and easy to get as alcohol. However, this is just plain stupid. He knows what the problem is. Rather or not he agrees with it, he knows that smoking MaryJ is what is directly keeping him from seeing his kids. So, legal or not, he is directly choosing to smoke MaryJ over seeing his children.

He in no way states that he NEEDS this drug, but simply, “it helps him.” Well, being stoned all day may or may not help me at work, but it is not allowed and therefore, I don’t do it. Part of being a responsible user is knowing when it is proper and allowed to use as well as NOT use.

I’m one of your friendly neighbors to the north and I smoke weed every day. I’ve read through the majority of these comments and I just can’t help but laugh. We need to stop judging each other. If a man fucks up himself or his family due to his problems then that’s their problem. Clearly no one in that situation was smart enough to get out of dodge. And anyone who forgets they have a child and falls asleep while they’re out playing in traffic obviously has more problems then smoking pot. Either that or the stuff we get up here sucks ass – which I doubt

I am Canadian. From what I understand marijuana is much easier to come by up here. I think it is ridiculous that this man’s kids were taken away because he is using a prescribed medication. I also think the name of the article is horrible. This dad should not be defined by the medication he uses. Whether you agree with it or not, medicinal marijuana is prescribed by a doctor as a medication, and should be thought of as one. My husband suffers from severe back pain due to multiple degenerative back diseases that render him unable to pick up our kids or even to sit on the floor or crouch to play with them. He is 25. He has been prescribed narcotic pain killers that leave him tired and dizzy, and make day to day tasks much more difficult. These painkillers are much more addictive than marijuana. If we were to separated would I then be able to use this against him in a custody battle? Because my husband is in chronic pain it means that he should only have supervised visits with our children? Even the NSAIDS he takes to reduce the inflammation make him tired and incoherent. This man has a problem with his hands and arms as he describes in the video. Does it really make a difference whether the substance he takes is marijuana or a strong painkiller? They have the same general effect on a person, only one is more socially acceptable. I would love it if my husband could use something like marijuana to relieve his pain, as would many people who suffer from severe chronic pain. I do however disagree that patients using this medication grow their own. It should be controlled just as all other medications are, and bought only at the pharmacy like all other medications. Growing your own is only asking for it to be abused, and there is no control over a patients intake of the substance. You should be carefully monitored just like those on other painkillers. Regardless of the morality behind the use of medical marijuana, it serves a purpose. One important enough to have it available, and people who use it should be treated no differently than others taking strong painkillers.

This worked out the way it should have. Period.

ANY parent, under the influence of ANY drug no matter the condition should loose their child. PERIOD. I don’t care if its Weed, Drinking, Oxycontin, Xanax all the way to Anti-biotics like Amoxicillian to asprin. ALL OF THESE ARE DRUGS, period. When you are taking care of your kids you should NEVER, EVER take anything that could impair your thought process and your ability to handle an emergency.

It angers me greatly when children are with parents who can’t take care of them. We have this neighbor down the street who has this supposed illness called “MS” (more like BS) and has NO right to take care of her kids. They need to be taken away, I don’t care how well adjusted they are she has no right to take care of her kids. What if something happened? What if she needed to drive to the doctors?

I applaud the family court on this one and hope they start cracking down on more drug-abusers. Got pain? Suck it up like a real parent! Got an illness that prevents you from taking care of you kid? Do the humane thing and put your kid up with your family or for adoption.

Where have the morals gone these days? Right down the freakin trash!
