In his must-read eco-thriller, State of Fear, Michael Crichton creates a brilliant visual to assist us in wrapping our minds around the components of Earth’s atmosphere. On page 387, he likens the atmosphere to a football field. The goal line to the 78 yard-line contains nothing but nitrogen. Oxygen fills the next 21 yards to the 99 yard-line. The final yard, except for four inches, is argon, a wonderfully mysterious inert gas useful for putting out electronic fires. Three of the remaining four inches is crammed with a variety of minor, but essential, gases like neon, helium, hydrogen and methane. And the last inch? Carbon dioxide. One inch out of a hundred-yard field! At this point I like to add, if you were in the stands looking down on the action, you would need binoculars to see the width of that line. And the most important point-how much of that last inch is contributed by man-made activities? Envision a line about as thin as a dime standing on edge.

Are you still worried about the dangers of CO2?

Global warming is a hoax facilitated by GE and GORE who will make alot of money. is it any suprise that GE supported comrade obama.
This is much like the freon/ozone hole hoax perpetrated by dupont. People still don’t understand what that’s going to do when they outlaw R-22.
You stupid environazies are idiots.
YOU believe any dumba$$ story that comes along in the name of enviromentalism(a new religion)
OVER 31,000 scientist say it’s bull.
WHERE IS THAT STORY in the state media….NOWHERE.
Good luck buying a A/C system reasonably after R-22 goes away. STUPID PEOPLE.

STOP THE GLOBAL WHINING, BRAINLESS POLITICOS!   July 20th, 2009 - 9:24 pm

GLOBAL WHINING is a good way to describe the OBSEQUIOUS BEHAVIOURS that Mr. O. and Mrs. C. are resorting to lately.

OBSEQUIOUS: Adjective:
being overattentive in order to gain favour [Latin obsequiosus compliant]

SYNONYMS:
BOOT-LICKING, fawning, sycophantic, toadyish
insincere – lacking sincerity; “a charming but thoroughly insincere woman”; “their praise was extravagant and insincere”
2. obsequious – attentive in an ingratiating or servile manner; “obsequious shop assistants”
servile – submissive or fawning in attitude or behavior

———

THESE RELENTLESS, INSINCERE “APOLOGIES” TO THE WORLD ARE SETTING US BACK, AND MAKING US LOOK LIKE TOTAL FOOLS.

KNOCK IT OFF!

scabbeus   July 20th, 2009 - 10:43 pm

Don’t forget Goldman-Sachs has already purchased a $1Billion dollars worth of Obama Cap & Trade Credits. Since they have done this quietly, instead obsequious they should be described by the American taxpayer as assrapius!

I’ll bet a lot of carbon was emitted when we freed Europe from the clutches of Nazism. There was a lot of carbon expelled when we helped Iran twice with devestating earthquakes. There was a lot if carbon emitted when we responded to the Tsunamis in Indonesia and Thailand. I could give you dozens and dozens of additional examples. The space program of the past few decades has yielded enormous benefits in technology and medicine which we have shared with the rest of the world.
The fact is, our founding fathers gave us liberty and freedom to pursue our dreams – and it not only has benefited the US, but the rest of the world. Western clothes, media, and a host of inventions – Television, Radio, telephone, medicines, travel, Internet, etc, etc.
Had we penalized ourselves with hand wringing over this carbon footprint nonsense, we may not have been the prolific inventors we were – which benefited everyone.
I refuse to apologize for a 1% contribution to the worlds CO2.
Who the f-uu-c-k is this Clinton woman?

The Indians don’t want it neither do the Chinese. America is the only nation fool enough to strangle it’s own economy in the name of global warming which no one has proven to be manmade. Natural warming is the way we got out of the last ice age BEFORE we had any industry or even civilization for that matter. Who is to say how much warmer it will get before the cycle repeats again. In any case the Earth has been cooling for the past 11 years.

Muck Fexico II   July 21st, 2009 - 6:51 am

No way we should apologize for ANYTHING…we are not in this world alone.

Dave   July 21st, 2009 - 8:29 am

What a clever title of a story.
As if the issue of global warming has even been proved.
It does not,it is a scam by professional bureaucrats who are very close to creating a very big, very lucrative agency to enrich themselves.
If you doubt that the parasites do this just for the money, when Al Gore left office his estimated net worth was 2 million,it is now over 100 million…

GlobalWarmingIsAHoax   July 21st, 2009 - 5:42 pm

Global warming is a hoax. It does not exists in the sense that the left would have you believe. Therefore there is nothing for the US to apologize to anybody for. The liberals and enviromentalists are using this ‘global warming scare tactic’ to generate a bill taht will force a tremendous tax on corporations and businesses which will ultimately come from the people, not the companies they purport to levy taxes on. After all, businesses will take the logic step of making their consumers pay this tax by including it in the price of their products. It’s smart business, and the politicians know this. This is another way for them to tax you, and yet most people don’t realize it and will turn right back around and vote again in the next election for the very people that burdened them with this new tax.

WHERE IS THE CRISIS?   July 21st, 2009 - 11:12 pm

Many areas of the country are experiencing record COLD temps and have been for some time. WHERE is the GLOBAL WARMING? and WHY are we about to pass that dumb-assed ENERGY BILL over something that does not exist? Just more POWER & MONEY GRABS?
