Should the city really be going after the little guys for making money online? Mayor Michael Nutter says yes.

Anything for a buck. When will there ever be enough?

DavidC99   August 26th, 2010 - 8:02 am

No! Stop increasing taxes — period!

Taxing like maniacs is what put everyone in trouble in the first place! Economic prosperity could be realized if the government would simply remove regulations and restrictions, not to mention the prospect of cutting taxes. For when people do cross the line with immoral business practices, the justice system should be standing by to conduct proper trials — not regulating everyone before a crime is committed.

mustafamonde   August 26th, 2010 - 8:02 am

And why not–this is what every socialist wants to do these days–curtail free speech AND take taxes. He may have to front a lobster dinner for Obama and Michele in the near future.

Deusexmachina   August 26th, 2010 - 8:03 am

Nutter, now that says it all……

Thinker822   August 26th, 2010 - 8:06 am

dOmocrats are nothing less than blood sucking parasites…they don't care about ANYTHING except taking. Loathsome wretches…November is coming…lets not waste the opportunity to show them ALL the door.

Bill_Lumbergh   August 26th, 2010 - 8:09 am

How is this stupid law even enforced?

HeReturnsSoon   August 26th, 2010 - 8:22 am

Ahh i get it. The new Mafia is here.

The Color of Purple   August 26th, 2010 - 8:22 am

The gums are too!

tatankachief   August 26th, 2010 - 8:22 am

Just what we need …. a 'nutter' tax. Then a'nutter and a'nutter and a'nutter, til we ain't got 'nuttin.

smellyfinger   August 26th, 2010 - 8:24 am

Democrat Bloggers
are you starting to understand
why your Party is so dangerous?

RightUnite   August 26th, 2010 - 8:30 am

Nah, because we'll be the ones paying that tax….

The Color of Purple   August 26th, 2010 - 8:36 am

Jamesb   August 26th, 2010 - 8:39 am

Nutter's a Democrat – Democrats LOVE taxes – this a TAX – ergo Nutter likes this tax.

What's the truism? If you want LESS of something TAX it – apparently ONE WAY to suppress that pesky 1st amendment is to TAX the CRAP out of it.

Have we had enough of LIBERALS/DEMOCRATS/"PROGRESSIVES" and the LIVING HELL they want to put our country through? Inviting in and implementing oppression by calling it "progressivism"?

Ridiculous spending, outrageous taxation, stupid foreign policy, constant vacations, political correctness as sensorship, a burgeoning political/wealthy ruling class…

Hailodumbo   August 26th, 2010 - 8:45 am

the problem with socialist is they always run out of other people's money to spend and go bankrupt. Socialism/communism has basically bankrupt different parts of the Government (local/ state and Fed.) and until we get them out of office, the problem will never get fixed. Take action NOV 2

B0BBYJ   August 26th, 2010 - 8:50 am

Time to start blogging about Philly, from outside Philly. What an assclown. This is nothing but a lame attempt at censoring viewpoints he does not like.

CBrooks1976   August 26th, 2010 - 9:19 am

Of course he does, he a statist.

The people of Philli put him in office and they got what they deserve.

Goo   August 26th, 2010 - 9:21 am

Time for some civil disobedience on the part of the people of Philadelphia.

Capt_Knuckles   August 26th, 2010 - 9:28 am

Bill are you not aware that this is how dimmwitocrats create jobs for the American people! This law is going to create 100,000 govt. jobs of union thugs searching the net for people to pay their fair share.

chester_simms   August 26th, 2010 - 9:30 am

The appropriately named Mayor Nutter.

Political John   August 26th, 2010 - 9:38 am

A tax on free speech, how quaint. And here I thought this was America and we had a first amendment in our constitution about that.

childofcorn   August 26th, 2010 - 9:58 am

Lords, TAKE YOUR TAXES AND SHOVE THEM UP YOUR ASS!

THE REAL TEA PARTY IS COMING…

Judgedavey   August 26th, 2010 - 10:00 am

Typical liberal idea. Stick it to the little guy again and keep your union thugs friends happy too. Way to go Philly…..

SP_Batman   August 26th, 2010 - 11:04 am

I don't know what's worse, the tax or the laptop the guy was using in the beginning. Geez, DOS anyone???

skipper99   August 26th, 2010 - 11:12 am

If I and most others who make posts about these greedy and corrupt politicians, said what really needs saying and doing, we would all be arrested. But wait, does that not come under freedom of speech?

El Campeador   August 26th, 2010 - 11:14 am

Where did the Mayor, get the Groucho Marx mask? No more Philly Cheesesteaks. Boycott the damn things.

childofcorn   August 26th, 2010 - 11:30 am

Breitbart should show the VIDEOS involving GANGS of BLACK YOUTHS roaming the IOWA state fairgrounds yelling "BEAT WHITEY NIGHT" and then BEATING UP WHITE PEOPLE. Police won't even call it a hate crime. Apparently it's not a hate crime if the victim is white.

YOUTUBE "BEAT WHITEY NIGHT"! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qeMslmDBxY

freedom rocks   August 26th, 2010 - 12:08 pm

you have to be a "protected class" in order to qualify

FunnyMan   August 26th, 2010 - 12:21 pm

Liberals…..living in the past ! Nutter says "what is this fancy internet thing?!"

hillranger   August 26th, 2010 - 1:08 pm

They found the point, the little guy can't afford a lawyer to fight back or pay off gov officials.

A_pen   August 26th, 2010 - 1:12 pm

This is what you get when you put people in a position of authority and they don't have anything to fear while stealing from you because they simply make it legal. There is no longer a system of checks and balances as the entire thing has become a system of enslavement. Small wonder considering the lack of character of those running it.

simtax   August 26th, 2010 - 1:24 pm

When they have everything you own and then some.OR But we are only taxing the small guy in order to shut them up. OR We need the money to redistribute your wealth to other countries. OR SEIU want to unionize you by state mandate so that all bloggers must pay union dues. Take your pick and you'll more than likely be right.

simtax   August 26th, 2010 - 1:27 pm

I love it. The guy makes four bucks a day in ad revenue. The City thinks he's a millionaire, or a day loborer in some South American country.

tiredofit2010   August 26th, 2010 - 1:38 pm

tax the mayor every time he opens his potty mouth!!

tiredofit2010   August 26th, 2010 - 1:45 pm

How about a $10K registration fee for anybody registering democRATic….

Baloshka   August 26th, 2010 - 3:33 pm

Tax everyone with an I. Q. lower than 50 in Philadelphia and deduct that from their welfare free cheese allotment.

It would eliminate obesity in the welfare queens and they babies.

Tax illegitimate children in Philly. That would bring in millions.

mickrussom   August 26th, 2010 - 5:06 pm

Philly mayor is a communist motherfucker traitor piece of shit. EOM.

ObieWan   August 26th, 2010 - 9:11 pm

So let me get this straight, American marxists or as they're otherwise known, as demoCRAPS, are going to start taxing bloggers for free speech. Exactly how long are Constitutional Americans going to put up with this treatment? When the hell are freedom loving citizens going to stand up and say, kiss our asses comrades,we're not dancing to your bull any more.,and we're not going to pay you a-holes for exercising our freedom of speech !!!

gilberto68   August 26th, 2010 - 9:17 pm

I'm all in favor of a Blogger Tax. That way, us rich right-wing bloggers can get rid of you poor left-wing bloggers! What a great idea! Never
thought of it. Kinda like the Poll Tax to keep Poor Colored Folks from 'votin in the days of yore!

MAduece   August 26th, 2010 - 9:38 pm

Tax this, tax that, tax..tax…tax, where does it ever end? I didn't know you could tax free speech. Or is this just the beginning of finding ways to seize control over the voices of opposition?

kmichaels   August 26th, 2010 - 10:34 pm

So, what Democrats want to tax
freedom of speech. It is not
like we did not understand how
they trample rights.

Either remove them peaceably
now or by forced revolution later.
I recommend the easy route.

jemc50   August 26th, 2010 - 10:49 pm

It will never stop as long as government can continue to force it. Government has a voracious unending appetite for cash.

john2919   August 27th, 2010 - 12:34 am

This seems to be rampant in America. Are we the Soviet Union of the 21st century? I think we are, as citizens, we are becoming serfs for the ruling class in America. We need to change our identity to "The United Serfs of America." Hey buddy, seen a soup line around here?

john2919   August 27th, 2010 - 12:38 am

We need to do to the ruling class what our forefathers did to King George!!! Time for some major civil disobedience!! Why are Americans putting up with such shikt from these dictators?? County to federal, look out Americans, the boot is coming down on your throat!!

john2919   August 27th, 2010 - 12:40 am

DEMOCRAT=COMMUNIST

LadyChurchill   August 27th, 2010 - 1:36 am

Notice that Nutter believes that he is giving you the "privilege" of earning a living. What has happened to the city that gave us the Constitution and the rights of free men to be free of oppressive government. Nutter is right about one thing if one group is paying we should all pay, but the real arguement should be why should any group pay Nutter to do business? They are already paying federal, state and city taxes. When is enough enough? We have the right to earn a living and keep the fruits of our own labors, it is not a privilege that the Mayor can hand out like favors from an emperor.

Buford   August 27th, 2010 - 3:37 am

Pathetic, The fucking government is going to charge people so much that it ruins the net that way they cannot say they got rid of free speech. Charge so much that no one can use the net and you win without fucking up the Constitution.

father_moray   August 27th, 2010 - 7:22 am

OldmanRick   August 27th, 2010 - 1:15 pm

Yep.

OldmanRick   August 27th, 2010 - 1:19 pm

The small guy has no defense. It's the large companies with their teams of lawyers and cooked books that seem to get away without paying their fair share. Philly is more like Chicago and NYC every day – corrupt.

Sanddog   August 27th, 2010 - 2:09 pm

Philly would collect far more money with a 1% across the board salary cut for public officials/employees. Can you imagine the screams and howls if the mayor proposed that action?

Student1776   August 27th, 2010 - 3:12 pm

And Philadelphia throws its hat in the ring to compete with Detroit, New Orleans, Los Angeles and East Saint Louis for the most corrupt and stupid city in America.

bogtrotter52   August 27th, 2010 - 4:07 pm

Wow, Jackass…….I see you are still doing your "one trick pony" thing.

bogtrotter52   August 27th, 2010 - 4:09 pm

Don't encourage him. He has not even read about or watched this video. He has been posting this multiple times on nearly every thread he can find.

Oh wow, neat to see a news story I was in got covered on this awesome website. You're all on the mark about Philly – it is a microcosm of Socialism here. Where is the Tea Party??! We need to focus on local stuff, too.
