Scuzzyfava was not a republican. She has that label because she ran for office with it but she voted as a dimocrat and more liberal than many dimocrats. She would have voted for the dimocrat house health bill without a doubt so not much has changed by electing a real dimocrat to office.
Conservative and republican voters were right to reject her as a candidate. By running as a republican and asking republicans to vote for her she is being dishonest and cheating republican voters out of representation they voted for because she is voting as a dimocrat, not a republican, so those who voted for her have no one to represent them in congress.
The fact that a third party candidate did not win is proof that the people whose support she had were not republicans at all and voted for the dimocrat who is the one who best represents their viewpoint.
The republican party needs to understand that conservative voters will no longer accept dimocrats running as republicans. If they keep doing that then they will lose votes to third party candidates, as they did, and will probably be losing elections for a long time to come. Maybe that is what it will ultimately take.
