First, given that the federal Constitution is silent about public healthcare, the 10th A. automatically reserves government power to regulate healthcare to the states, not the Oval Office and Congress. The reason that the federal government now ignores that it has no constitutional authority to run healthcare programs is this. Pro-big federal government, outcome-driven justices nominated by FDR perverted the reasonable interpretation of the Commerce clause (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3) in the 1940s, wrongly opening the door for Congress to run healthcare. The USSC’s perversion of the Commerce clause is evidenced by the fact that a respected constitutional expert had noted the following about the clause.

Reminds my of my youth.I recall being taken into a department store being forced by Mom to try on sweaters that were too hot, itchy, and basically not what I wanted. She now says she hopes to give the American people a Christmas present with the passage of Obamacare into law. She along with Obama is in favor of putting people in jail if they do not buy health insurance. But I thought they were firing the guards and releasing some prisoners in California? Anyway, I guess that’s one way to get them coverage by putting them in prison.
This country is one more step closer to Socialism. These elitist Democrats don’t care about the people in America they care about themselves and the control they will have if this bill is signed into law. And what gives them the right to force someone to purchase health insurance under penalty of prison? HOW IS THIS CONSTITUTIONAL?
Nancy, this monstrosity passed in the dark of night, on a Saturday only after some chicanery went on about the bill regarding abortion. It would not have passed without the Stupak (STUPID) Amendment. Stupak’s amendment prohibits abortion coverage in the public insurance option included in the House bill. It would also prevent private plans from offering coverage for abortion services if they accept people who are receiving government subsidies. It does allow abortions in the case of rape, incest or imperils the health or life of the mother.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the Democrats’ chief deputy whip in the House said “I am confident that when it comes back from the conference committee that that language won’t be there.” So they put in an amendment in order to pass this atrocity only to remove the amendment from the final bill.
Republican Leader John Boehner could not get any guarantees that the Amendment would be in the final bill. Without the Stupak (Stupid) amendment the House healthcare bill would not have passed and this healthcare bill would have gone down to defeat.
Mr. Boehner, knowing that voting to pass this amendment was just a ruse to get the Healthcare bill passed; why did you and the Republicans vote for it? It does not make sense to me when you say you are against this healthcare bill and then vote for an amendment that basically guarantees the bill will pass.
Hey Nancy, if this healthcare bill (Obamacare) is so GREAT, why did you use chicanery to get the bill passed in the DARK of night? Why not do it in the light of day and do a power point presentation on the benefits of this plan? Why not show the American people what a wonderful plan it is? The so-called benefits of the plan do not go into effect until 2013. What’s the rush? Is it because the taxes go into effect immediately? Did you even read the bill?
This is not about healthcare for the American people. It is about power and control over our lives. It is about the loss of FREEDOM! It’s a trillion dollar boondoggle that will not improve on healthcare in this country. It’s about tax increases and the possibility of going to prison. It’s about Socialism. Obamacare is wrong for America and should be defeated.
