The CBO says that the numbers are inaccurate when you get past these gimmicks. This doesn’t even count the new 12 million people they will have to add when they, if they, pass amnesty. CBO did not count those uninsured being added to the bill. Can we say $2 Trillion.

Number of newly covered individuals supposedly 32,000,000
Cost per year should be around 309 billion per year for the extra coverage.
Obama claims the ten year cost will be under one trillion.
Ten year cost for an extra 32,000,000 people is really closer to three trillion
dollars, not the claimed one trillion.
Ah, but the money will come from other people, besides the government.
Well, doesn’t all the money come from other people anyway? So the extra cost
to other people is really three trillion dollars, and that is for starters. The number
of people not covered due to their own problems will continue to rise, since we
are taking more incentive away from people to work for their own well being.

Number of illegals in the USA ranges from 7 million to 20 million depending on whose numbers you believe.
With the pending Obama amnesty program that means the USA would have to pay for that many more peoples health care.
Also keep in mind that Reagan offered amnesty in 1986 supposedly to slow down illegal immigration. Since then, in 25 years
the illegal counts have tripled.
That means that we can expect up to 50 million illegals in the USA in another 25 years.
That means at today’s dollars the USA will be paying around 800 billion dollars per year
for added health insurance costs 25 years from now instead of the estimated 309 billion from today again, using today’s dollar value.
With just the new expected amnesty our ten year cost for Obamacare will be FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS instead of the estimated
ONE TRILLION which is being sold to us by Obama and his team of professional liars.
And this is just the beginning of our fiscal woes.
Obama also plans on screwing us over with energy bills and the global warming scam.
Since insurance companies will be forced to cover kids up to 26 years old (some form of kid eh?) and will be forced to pay for pre-existing conditions, and will be forced to increase lifetime caps, we can expect one thing and nothing but, INCREASED INSURANCE COSTS for those already paying their own way in life.

My opinion of what the plan was all along:
Two days ago Krauthammer said if it passes itâs overâŠTrojans in the bill. The health bill is an orchestrated plan to go directly to universal healthcare with a public option (gov). Without a public option the only way the insurance companies can handle preexisting conditions is if everyone has insurance. This is to prevent people without insurance when they get sick to buy insurance and thatâs too costly for the insurance companies. The plan is force everybody to have insurance knowing it is unconstitutional. Theyâre pretending like theyâre going to defend the bill in the courts knowing that the courts will not overturn the entire bill, but just that mandate. This leaves the gov to step in and create the gov option. Also, states regulate insurance companies and mandates the insurances companies and they have to keep 65% of the premiums to pay out claims. The remaining 35% is their operating costs and profit, which is 2-3%. In the Senate bill they changed the 65% to 85% which means the insurance companies will imeediately become insolvent. Once the insurance companies are gone and the courts overturn the mandate of forcing insurance on everyone, then only the Fed Gov can come in and pick up all the insurance as a public option, thus universal healthcare
It is a Frankenstein–one made by Dr. Republican. Many have failed to realize that the health insurance reform just passed is a right wing approach to solving the health care problem. Odd how a plan that mimics the Massachusetts Plan which was the brain child of Mitt Romney. As a progressive, the bill stinks, but for reasons the Right (at least the ignorant ones) does not understand. If we would have kicked out the greedy insurance companies from the equation instead of doing their bidding, we could have had a plan that would cut the 31% of overhead in health care down to 3%. We could have had a system that would end medical bankrupcy as we know it, one that would have ended the 45,000 deaths each year of those without healthcare and insured all living in the borders of our great country with health care, not health insurance. We could have done like all the other indsutrialized countries have done, and almost cut in half our nation’s medical cost from 17.5% of GNP down to about 10%. We could have provided quatlity, doctor-patient run care (where the doctor calls the shots, not the insurance agent), with everybody in, nobody out, saving 400 billion a year–enought to cover everyone. We could have had a real national plan, a single-payer expanded and improved Medicare for All, which would have unhooked medical care from employment. We could have once again been a great nation that puts people over profit when it comes to health care. But we didn’t. We went with what is in essence a corporate giveaway, a Republican plan that will implode down the road. But not because is is socialism, or a government run plan, which it isn’t. We needed a government run plan, and we got crap. Thank you Republicans for voting against your own ideas. You may as well since you always vote against your interests too.

I am not so sure President Bush failed so badly, I think he suffered from a continual attack from the mainstream media for defending america and prosecuting a war, which almost every member of congress voted for. He passed a prescription drug benefit, which was the centerpiece of Al Gore’s campaign, he allowed Ted Kennedy to author the education bill, which liberals love to criticize. Have you forgotten the almost hourly death totals from the war, with pictures of recent casualties featured before every major sporting event. When was the last time your beloved mainstream media kept daily death counts from the war, or for that matter any coverage. He tried repeatedly to call attention to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae problems, but we were reassured by the bought and paid for democrats in congress, that there was absowootwy no Pwobwum wif FWEDDY and FWANNY. He attempted to fix Social Security, he attempted to reform imigration, he probably governed more like a liberal than a conservative. He was bombarded in the media everyday and the same media was awol in the past election, carrying the water for Obama, by ignoring what would be news to alot of people that depend on the networks for their news, this would be primarily the 60 and over voters. Fiscal Frankenstien is a good description. The double counting and omissions of items, like the 300 billion doctor fix, are obvious lies to make the whole bill look like it’s fiscally feasible and responsible. These also do not include the fantasy assumptions of things like rising prices.

Tom, do you know that NAFTA pushed 1 million Mexicans off their farms. You see, we are allowed to subsidize corn production here in the US, but NAFTA said Mexico could not do the same. Therefore, hard working Mexican farmers could not longer make a living. In the recent healthcare debate he showed what a true despot he was and is when he used water as a means to bribe two representatives of California to change their vote to yes. It is truly an evil despicable act when people in position of power use water (or food) as a means to bribe someone for political gain. It is an act a third world dictator does to his people. By the way, unions are not an emanation of fascist ideas. I imagine many of the righites indulge in these services without ever questioning the principles behind them. And who cannot say we would be diminished if we had open sewers, no public roads, no police and fire protection, etc.
It is time to get serious about solving our nations problems as a people, regardless of the make up of our nation, and to return government to the people away from the corporate masters who have bought and sold our elected representatives. Serious people talk about election reform, publicly financed elections, the end of corporate personhood, instant run off elections as a means to get third parties into the ballgame, and the building of small ‘d” democracy institutions to better serve our nation. Until these problems are solved, we will be played like a fiddle by the powers that be–the monied interests who have benefited mightily from the shift of money to the top few percent while its share of the taxes has diminished greatly.
History has definitely been made with President Obama signing health insurance reform. I’m so glad the insurance companies can no longer abuse the American public.
But with that being said we need to tackle the even bigger issue of America’s healthcare crisis and that is an unhealthy America. I’m a medical professional myself and work as a clinical pharmacist in my local hospital. Insurance reforms are wonderful but if 2/3 of America is still overweight and plagued with chronic illnesses that drain their own individual bank accounts as well as our nation’s bank accounts then we still have a problem. We still have a healthcare crisis.
We can do something about this though on an individual basis. NEW, INDEPENDENT APPEALS PROCESS FOR NEW PLANSâEnsures consumers in new plans have access to an effective internal and external appeals process to appeal decisions. Effective 6 months after enactment.
MORE FOR YOUR PREMIUM DOLLARâRequires plans to put more of your premiums into your care, and less into profits, CEO pay, etc. This medical loss ratio requires plans in the individual and small group market to spend 80 percent of premiums on medical services, and plans in the large group market to spend 85 percent. Insurers that donât meet these thresholds must provide rebates to policyholders. Effective on January 1, 2011.
NO DISCRIMINATION BASED ON SALARYâProhibits new group health plans from establishing any eligibility rules for health care coverage that have the effect of discriminating in favor of higher wage employees. Effective 6 months after enactment.
IF YOU DONâT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE:
IMMEDIATE HELP FOR THE UNINSURED WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS (INTERIM HIGH-RISK POOL)âProvides immediate access to insurance for Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition – through a temporary high-risk pool â until the Exchanges up and running in 2014. Effective 90 days after enactment. (Beginning in 2014, health plans are banned from discriminating against all people with pre-existing conditions, so high-risk pools would phase out).
EXTENDING COVERAGE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE UP TO 26TH BIRTHDAY THROUGH PARENTSâ INSURANCE â Requires health plans to allow young people up to their 26th birthday to remain on their parentsâ insurance policy, at the parentsâ choice. Effective 6 months after enactment.
GENERAL REFORMS:
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERSâIncreases funding for Community Health Centers to allow for nearly doubling the number of patients served over the next 5 years. Effective beginning in fiscal year 2010.
MORE PRIMARY CARE DOCTORSâProvides new investment in training programs to increase the number of primary care doctors, nurses, and public health professionals. Effective beginning in fiscal year 2010.
HEALTH INSURANCE CONSUMER ASSISTANCEâProvides aid to states to establish offices of health insurance consumer assistance to help consumers file complaints and appeals. Effective beginning in FY 2010.
A NEW, VOLUNTARY, PUBLIC LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE PROGRAMâCreates a long-term care insurance program to be financed by voluntary payroll deductions to provide benefits to adults who become functionally disabled. Effective on January 1, 2011.
