I stopped this video the moment I saw Pat Robertson and heard his voice. Please stop promoting him. He is a poor representative of Christianity.

In decades of interacting with Christians and the political Right (not inevitably linked, it's worth noting), I've only ever met ONE person who watched this man. She was somewhat eccentric.

I always wonder who promotes this individual and why.

At any rate, the issue of Islam in France is indeed worth reporting on. But there are more credible, reliable people than Mr. Robertson.

When ALL major news outlets refuse to look into the effects of Islamisization of countries, we have to approve of real reporting wherever we get it.

I've lived in Pat Robertson's backyard for most of my life (literally a couple miles away) and I'm not a big fan, but don't throw away an ally when there are so few, just because a portion of his audience might be more religiously fanatical than you'd like. If people like him that actually have a voice don't take a stand on the Sharia on our doorstep, we really don't have much of anyone to count on. Be glad for any allies brave enough to take the political backlash.

Let me respond to some of the responses. Hopefully, this will format correctly.

1. Just because Robertson has one piece on an important topic does not validate him as a legitimate source.

Think of it this way: If Al Sharpton said something that was technically right, would you still applaud his visibility? Or would you tune him out and look for a better source?

It's not like the issue of Islam in France is ONLY getting play via Robertson. Pajamas Media has something on it virtually every day.

2. The fact that Robertson reported something better than the three networks is setting the bar pretty low: Tune in now! We're better than Katie Couric! (Now THAT'S a selling point!)

3. Anytime Robertson's video is used, it's a promotion of him. It puts him in the public eye It gives his a platform and stature. This is just not good, as anyone familiar with him will know.

4. This is not an either/or but rather a both/and. Of course, we don't ignore the issue of Islam's inroads in the West — and its more aggressive forms as seen in France.

But the solution is not to turn to another outlandish figure as though he's credible.

Consider the Ground Zero Mosque. For me, one of the most telling things about the whole scenario is the lack of self-critique in the Muslim world about this issue (and many, many others as well).

As a Christian, I think it's incumbent on me to speak up when I see someone who maligns the faith, acts foolish and out of line with Christian teachings and charity. Someone who holds himself up as a leader of Christianity should be open to critique from those of the faith (and those from without).

As a conservative, I think we shouldn't be so desperate for someone to speak our side that we settle on any huckster, charlatan, or otherwise compromised individual to get our message out.

Ironically, what's the strongest defense against inroads from militant Islam? A vibrant Christian community that offers a real alternative to the spiritual needs neglected by modern secularism.

So, for me, critiquing Robertson and holding the line against militant Islam are all of a piece:

Offer a real version of Christianity — with its message of grace and forgiveness for our sins — and people won't fall for the lie offered by a radicalized Islam that (in its very doctrines) advances militarism.

Just so. I figure as long as America keeps their numbers to below 0.002% of the population, Muslims are just fine. Above that, they are nothing but trouble–like a slow growing cancer. Either France has metastasized or will very soon.
